Chapter 23

They stood in silence for a moment, thinking about what Yuri had just said. After a short while of contemplating what he had just said, Phichit decided to speak up, "Do you really think that's possible?"

"I have no idea," the raven responded in frustration. "After everything that has happened lately, I'm just not sure anymore what's true anymore. We're in uncharted territory now, so there are a lot of mysteries still hanging out in the air." He sighed heavily, "Even if I am able to figure out some information about everything, the problem remains that I'm still missing most of the important pieces of information. I wish I could remember what happened in Sochi."

"Me too," Yuuko murmured quietly.

Viktor, however, wasn't convinced. Despite the fact that they needed to stay hidden and keep low profiles, there was one aspect to all of their captivity that he couldn't help but notice, and that was the fact that they'd been kept alive. While he couldn't say that he enjoyed it, he supposed that the kidnappers hadn't intended to kill them after all, and therefore didn't consider them to be a threat. Even if they were forced to spend time with these two criminals, it certainly wouldn't hurt them to show that they cared about them. It wasn't as if they really had a reason to do this anyway, so perhaps it would do them good to continue being civilised towards each other.

"You guys should stop complaining," Yuri suddenly interrupted, interrupting Viktor's thoughts. "The longer we spend arguing about it the more likely we are to attract unwanted attention to ourselves. We need to focus on getting out of here as soon as possible."

Yuuko agreed with Yuri's point, so they all tried their best to keep their voices relatively quiet and their conversation to a minimum.

Suddenly a loud clunking noise filled the air followed by a high pitched scream, causing everyone present to jump and turn their heads around in bewilderment. All the sudden, a dark haired boy ran towards them from afar, holding what appeared to be a large metal object.

"Hey! Stop following me!", Yuri yelled angrily. "What are you doing?!"

The boy stopped dead in his tracks before replying with a sarcastic chuckle, "Wow! Didn't you see the signs? They were very clearly written on the signpost. If I didn't have the extra eye that I've developed over the years and that I can now read quite clearly, I wouldn't have recognized them!"

"So you deliberately ignored the sign, huh?", asked Viktor.

"Well yeah. You guys don' have any sense of respect for the common people! Especially when it comes to these things. Just imagine how much worse this is going to be when they realize that the two of you are here and not back home in Japan! Not that they've done anything to us yet, but I doubt that they'll give us another chance," replied the boy as he glanced behind his shoulder and called out to his companions, "I've caught them, you idiots!" Once he had finished speaking, he then proceeded to pull out his gun and shot one of the guards, while the other two turned around, ready to shoot, but before they could fire their guns, the boy fired again and they both dropped lifeless to the ground, while Phichit and Chris managed to avoid being hit as they moved further away from the group.

"Damn. Those two were the ones that ambushed us at that park last year, weren't they?", Victor murmured softly to himself and everyone else.

Yuuko nodded silently as she gazed at the bodies that laid motionless on the ground before turning back to look at Victor as she replied, "Yeah. That must have been what they were talking about before when they said that we were dangerous."

Yuuri then asked, "Who are these people? How many of them are there?"

Before anyone could answer
