CHAPTER 10

*MEANWHILE IN BRYANS HOUSE* Bryans phone rang then he looked at the caller ID and it was his father. He didn't answer the call because him and his dad were not in good terms because of some family issues then the phone rang for a second time so he decided to answer with annoyance. "What do you want man?" he asked his father. "We are having a family reunion and I will like you to come." his father replied with hope in his voice. "Who cares about what you like?"Bryan asked. "I know I want you to come son but you have to watch your tone when you talk to me." his father warned. "Whatever." Bryan replied as he ended the call. VERONICA "So,what about your mum and dad?" Jennifer asked as the both of us were trying to catch up for old times sake. "My mum left for work this morning as usual but my dad went for a business trip." I replied frowning. "Is everything okay?" she asked clearly concerned. "Sincerely I don't know, I just have a feeling that my mum and dad are no longer as close as before and I think they are going to have a divorce. I'm scared." I said surprised that I have finally shared the thought I have had in my head for a long time now with someone and I feel a weight lift from my shoulder. "Why do you think so?" she asked. "I don't know, they seem really distant these days but my mum will never tell me what is going on and dad on the other hand is always out on business trips and whenever the both of them are around ,they seem so distant and it's very tiring and annoying to watch." I replied feeling the tears that is threatening to fall from my eyes. I noticed Jennifer was speechless but I don't blame her, ofcourse she won't know what to say. I'm very sure she wasn't expecting that. "It's okay Vee, they are going to be okay." She said as she drew closer to me and we embraced each other in a hug. "Let's talk about something else." She said trying to lighten the mood and I secretly thanked her for that. I quickly masked my face with a fake smile. "Let's go to my room then." I said as we both stood up and went to my room. When we got inside the room,we both sat down on my bed and I asked her why she was in Washington and she replied by telling me that she and her family just moved to Washington on Thursday but she couldn't make it to my house until now because they were trying to put the house in order. "I can't believe you are staying here for good." I said with a wide smile. "We have to see each other every time." I added in excitement. " I'm also happy,I have missed you so much."she said with her own wide smile. "I actually have lots of things to tell you." I said smilling. "So what is it, you have got a boyfriend?" She asked. "No but just listen to what I have to say." I said blushing. I told her about Hunter and when I was done with my story ,she was all smiles. "Why are you smilling?" I asked her. "Well,the guy sounds hot and I can say you are so lucky,just look at the way guys are just trying to get your attention. who would have thought?" she said which caused me to let out a loud and uncontrolled laughter. "Let's step out for a while." I said to her as the both of us left my house. "We are going to have many girls night" I said excited. Actually, Jennifer is black American and she has all the curves in the right places but I'm a bit taller than her and trust me when I say she is very stunning and that explains Sams loss of words when she came. Anyway,I will talk to him about that later. As the both of us left the house, we stopped at all times supermarket and bought a bucket ice cream,chips and other edible things. "So this Bryan guy,do you normally talk to him?" Jennifer suddenly asked. "No,I have only spoken to him once at the party."I said as I explained what led to the both of us talking at the party. "Is he handsome?" she asked again giggling. "very." I replied as my cheeks heat up with a shy smile. "Wow,I guess the two cousins are handsome then but who is more handsome?"she asked. "They are both really handsome but I don't know who is more handsome." I said. I have never taken my time to compare the both of them. The both of us returned to my house so I checked the time and it was already 7:30pm. Time flies really fast. I told Jennifer the time then she said she has to go but she will come tomorrow and she will stay longer. "Okay,the ice cream has to wait then." I said as we hugged each other then she left after we exchange byes. I went upstairs after keeping the ice cream in the freezer and the other things in the kitchen. I decided to dial Sam's number after talking my bath. "Hey handsome,how are you?"I asked. "I'm good." he said and I could hear the grin in his voice. "What are you doing?" I asked him as I got into my Mickey mouse pyjamas. "Just going through Instagram." he replied. "Oh." came my reply. "Anyway, who is that girl that came to your house earlier?" he asked. "I thought you will never ask." I said smilling. "why did you say that?" he asked like he didn't understand what I was trying to say. "You clearly turned to a dumb when you opened the door for her." I said laughing as I settled down on the bed. "Please stop teasing me,besides I can't believe you were hiding such beauty from me." he said. "Am I now?" I asked him. "So just tell me, who is she?" "I remember introducing her to you as my friend." I replied. "That's not what I'm asking." he said. "What are you asking then?" I asked. "I just want to know about her." he said. "You can just ask her." I replied. " I'm not sure, I'm nervous as hell around her." he said. "Okay,on one condition." I said smilling not even sure of what he wants to know. "what is the condition?" he asked. "I don't know yet,it depends on what you want to know." I said feeling like a blackmailer and obviously a hot one. "But I'm your best friend." he said. "So, first of all does she have a boyfriend?" he asked. "Catching feelings,are you?" I said laughing. "Please just answer me." he said and I could tell he was already frustrated. "I'm not sure but I will help you find out." I said. "Okay,goodnight then and thank you" he replied. "goodnight." I said as I ended the call and covered myself with the duvet before drifting off to a peaceful sleep and Bryans face flashed to my mind. "I seem to think of strange things when I'm left alone with my thoughts." I muttered as I slept. VERONICA I woke up on Monday morning with a lazy groan. "Liam,what the hell?" I asked as I opened my eyes to see him standing beside my bed with the alarm brought to my ear. "Well,you gotta wake up princess." he said grinning. "I don't have all day and I need to take you to school." "Okay, just give me some minutes." I said as I got out of bed with a wide yawn. "I hope someone hasn't forgotten that she is a lady." he said pointing at my mouth as it was wide open. "I'm in my room so I can do whatever I want to do." I said as I went inside my bathroom. "you gotta go unless you want to see my naked behind." I shouted from the bathroom. "gross!" Liam muttered before he left my room. After talking my bath,I went inside the room and put my hair in a loose bun because I really don't have the strength to comb it right now and I didn't even wash it. I quickly put on my underwear with a straight short blue jean skirt that sat above my knees and a black boot that was up to my knees with a black crop top coupled with jean jacket. I didn't even do my makeup as usual but I managed to put face powder, mascara and lipgloss before Liam shouted my name from downstairs. "one second." I shouted and ran out of my room. well,I didn't have breakfast as usual. Great! "Honey are you off to school?" my mum asked from the kitchen. "yes mum." I shouted as I went outside and saw that Liam was already waiting in the car. "you had to take your time." he said with an eye roll as I entered the car. "I barely took my time." I replied with a frown then he drove off. While we were still inside the car,Liam called my attention and told me that he won't be able to take me to school tomorrow and maybe for the next one week because something came up and he really needs to attend to it. "Okay," I said already thinking of telling Sam about it so I will be able to go to school in his car. "So,do you have anyone that can take you to school?" he asked me. "I guess I will just have to ask Sam." I said. I could see the worry on Liams face and I could tell he wanted to ask me if Sam will be able to do that for two weeks. "He won't be able to say no." I said with a smirk. ************************** When I got to school,I waved Liam goodbye as I got inside and headed to the locker room. I quickly took my books and went to class after which I checked the time and I still had thirty minutes before class will begin. As I got inside the class,I noticed they were only few people inside so I walked to my seat and dropped down my bag before sitting down and bringing out my phone. As I logged into my Instagram page,I saw that the likes and comments of the last picture I posted has increased a lot and I think this is the highest likes and comments I have ever gotten since I started posting on Instagram. When I checked the comments,I noticed it was after Harry commented pretty on my post that people started commenting. He must be really popular. I decided to check his profile and when I saw his followers,my jaw almost dropped so I looked around to be sure I didn't embarass myself and thank God no one was paying attention to me. "Jeez,is he that popular?" I asked myself. Three hundred thousand followers ! I barely had any. Just almost one thousand but now I have more than three thousand followers, Wow! I quickly checked his posts. He is truly hot but I really wasn't expecting his followers to be that many and I was more surprised when I noticed he followed me and that caused some people I didn't know to start following me. No wonder my phone was just blowing up with notifications that I didn't bother checking yesterday. Before I could go further,I felt someone sitting down close to me so I turned and it was Sam as expected. "Hey." I said as I faced him properly. "you looked lost in your phone." he said. "Oh,it was just...." before I could finish what I was saying Mr James,our Literature teacher came into the class. I didn't see Hunter and Bryan in school today and it's not like I was checking but it's hard to miss them when they are in school.you must surely see one of them. It didn't bother me because today is definitely not the only or first time they have decided to be absent from school. When it was time for lunch,I and Sam went to the school canteen and I ordered my usual which was burgers and fries but this time I ordered it with an apple drink. Sam ordered the same thing but with soda. Actually, burgers and fries is one of the few edible things you can cope with in the school canteen. After lunch break,we had three other classes before school was over. Sam asked me about Jennifer and I told him that I will ask her when I get home today and I also didn't forget to tell him that his price for it with be him coming to pick me from home to school and he will also take me home after school. "Jeez,!Vee what about Liam?"He asked. "he said he is going to be busy because he has something to take care of." "But this is too much,two weeks."he said raising his voice. "I guess you want to ask her about her relationship status yourself then." I said hoping he will tell me to ask her instead. "No,just ask her."he said. "I will but have it in mind that I won't help you ask her any other thing. you have to ask her yourself." "But why?" he asked following me to the school parking lot. "you need to man up and let her know you like her because you clearly do." I said as I continued walking. "well, I'm not a man. Yet" he said grinning. "I guess Jennifer will love to hear that" I replied with an evil smile. "Don't even dare." he said. "dare to do what?" I asked innocently. "Don't you dare tell her I said that." He said in a pleading tone. "Fine,I won't and don't even dare annoy me unless you want me to spill." I said as Liam's car drove into the school parking lot. "Bye ,I will see you at your house later." he said as we waved each other goodbye. "Perfect!" I screamed in my mind as I quickly got inside Liams car before he drove off. *********************
