Training and Picking Weapons

With Meld Loggins at the lead, the students followed Meld behind to a big training room with training equipment. Ryutarou, Kouki's friend, was excited after seeing all the training equipment.

"Everyone, I will have you train the basics. After that, find your own, your very own style of fighting. Before the day ends, the Heiligh Kingdom will open its treasury for you all to choose from. Now, line up, separate the women from the men!" Meld said as his demeanor changed to a great commander. The students followed him and arranged themselves.

In Vergil's eyes, this was stupid. Sure learning basics on how to fight is good but did they not consider those students who aren't suitable for fighting? Vergil also couldn't see Aiko, he thought that she's still trying to persuade the head priest on not letting her students fight.

Soon, Meld started pairing up everyone and Vergil got paired up with Kouki, the local idiot. Meld then started demonstrating basic fighting techniques to everyone. Meld also corrected wrong stances and patiently taught them with everything he can. To be honest, this guy was a good man in Vergil's book. He could see that he's taking his job seriously. Its a pity that he would die and become a zombie puppet.

As much as Vergil want to flex his strength, earning the ire of the bastard God this early on is not gonna be good. If Vergil just killed the head priest without thinking of the consequence, the bastard God would probably tell his subordinates to eliminate Vergil and send innocent lives towards him, not that Vergil care, but those people will annoy him on his journey.

Well, they weren't going to die soon so just let nature run its course. Meld also praised Shizuku for her solid fundamentals and when he learned that Shizuku is pursuing the way of the sword, he was a little surprised and respect could be seen on his eyes.

Vergil and Kouki started executing the basics to each other while Meld gave tips to Kouki. Meld was probably giving special attention to Kouki considering that he has the Hero Class but what surprised Meld is Vergil's ability to keep up with Kouki. To which Vergil replied:

"Nah, its just the basics. Besides, I know swordsmanship as well." Vergil's words earned a surprise from Kouki.

"Can you teach me?" Kouki asked only to be met with a sharp refusal.

"No, my swordsmanship is kind if unique to mine only. My old man tailor made it for me. If you learn it, it will harm you more than it'll benefit you. Its much better if you have your own style that fits with you." Although he's the local idiot, Vergil didn't have prejudice against him, only his principles.

Soon, their training got concluded and Meld called the students to follow him to another room with two knights guarding it.

"Open the treasury." Meld said and the knights complied and opened the door.

Large amounts of equipment entered the eyes of the students. Due to excitement, Hiyama rushed in and he was followed by the others. Vergil entered last and eyed the various equipment inside but was disappointed when he saw the treasury. He closed his eyes and used the Ultimate Eye to discern the mana coming from the equipment which further disappointed him as there's no unique aura from the weapons.

He decided to pick up a normal sword and a pair of gloves before sitting in the side and got noticed by Meld.

"Are you not satisfied with the weapons inside the treasury?" Meld asked him.

"Apparently, you don't have a katana. I'll have to stick with the closest one to it. Besides, its not like I couldn't beat up a monster with a normal sword." Vergil said earning Meld's respect.

"True, a swordsman's worth is their skills, not their weapons. Looks like you have a bright future ahead of you, young man." Meld said and Vergil only smiled in reply and thought.

'Well, your future is to become a zombie, not a pretty bright one, I would say.'

"Say, Mr. Knight Commander." Vergil called Meld.

"Just call me Meld, and you?" Meld asked.

"Well, name's Vergil. What about those unfit for combat? What'll happen to them? Are you gonna force them to fight? You know that not everyone is lucky to have a combat related class." Vergil asked and Meld furrowed his brows.

"Although we won't force others to fight in the frontline, acting as the support in the backline is not a bad thing, don't you think?" Meld said and Vergil nodded.

"What about our lodgings? How do you plan on doing that?" Vergil asked once again.

"As for your lodgings, the castle is large and has enough room to handle you all but we're planning to bunk you with one person, of course men and women are separated. As for your clothing, we'll be going there next after your companions chose their weapons." Meld said and Vergil asked another question.

"What about the skills? When are we going to learn them?" He asked and Meld patiently answered his queries.

"Tomorrow, we'll teach you on how to sense and use mana, then comes the skill." Meld said and Vergil nodded in gratitude.

"Any more questions?" Meld asked and Vergil shook his head.

Soon, everyone got their own weapons and equipment. Vergil haven't seen the Divine Armor that Kouki uses, the White Wand that Kaori uses, the Sword that Shizuku uses and many more artifacts given to the Hero Party.

Meld then led the girls to another room as the maids took their size measurements. Meld then continued leading the boys to the other room and butlers came out and measured their sizes.

"Do you have any outfits in mind specifically, sir?" A butler asked Vergil as he took his measurements.

"A white yukata with a blue swirl pattern on the bottom, a black red-lined shirt with a popped collar and black pants. A knee-high black boots, buckled at the top and above the foot. Is that possible?" Vergil asked and the butler nodded.

"Do you mind if you showed me the design? As long as you give me one, we'll do our best to reproduce it." The butler asked.

"Can you give me a piece of paper and I'll draw it for you." As a person who once involved in arts, he knew how to draw well. The butler nodded and gave him a bunch of yellow papers and a pen.

Vergil then drew the iconic yukata and its design to the best of his ability.
