317 CHAPTER 317: Alone And in Pain

*BOOM*

The meeting held in the palace was disrupted by a sudden loud noise coming from the courtyard and soom commotions occur.

"Wha- What's going on?" Reginald asked when he went out with the rest.

'There was no ill intent or was there darkness, could it be that there was an inside attack?' he thought before the scene of the whole couryard came to his view.

There was dust everywhere and the land itself has caved in.

For such a strong impact meant that the one that caused it came from above.

"Your majesty!!!"

All of them turned to the front upon hearing her familiar voice.

"'All of them have lost their consciousness, I need a place for them to rest. They are not in any danger and simply needed to rest."

Saphira seemed tired herself but she was speaking without difficulty.

Yet her eyes showed something else.

They were filled with pain and other emotions.

"What happened?" Asherton approached her while Reginald had Gideon and the rest of the knights present to check on Hunter and the rest.

Saphira smiled bitterly towards him, "The truth is out."

"I did wait for it but somehow seeing it at a different perspective is difficult to digest. What more for them who has no idea of such? I really amm so bad aren't I grandfather? Waited so long just so I wouldn't have the burden of speasking about it and explaining everythihng to them."

"Saphira..."

He tried to reach out.

"That's right I had forgotten due to the chaos, I was only reminded of it now. Raynisha said sorry for everything. She was apologizing to you and mother and father. I'm sorry it took too long for me to finally tell you."

Saphira's hands were trembling as she spoke.

"Also, we need more explanation once they come out. In the end, I still have to explain. But I guess this is easier since they already know that the matter was the truth and they wouldn't think of me as the liar right?"

"Saphira..."

"Ah wait, I wonder where I should start grandfather? Should it be on that tragedy? Or the one before? They are going to ask about the one they killed in Draco Empire. I should probably start there so that they'd accept things easily, right?"

Some had left and only a few remained listening to her speak.

There were the heads, the emperor, some higher ups within the palace.

They were silent and watched her speak nonstop and at some point, they feel pity for her.

The one who had been in control over everything was now speaking as if when she stopped she'd just collapse.

Saphira turned to Reginald, "I did my promise though. I protected them after they found out the truth. But that land,, we can't save it anymore. I wanted to do so by erecting the barrier earlier but I was still too late. They were already inside. A lot has died again."

After a pause she returned her eyes to Asherton, "Have we really done our job properly?"

Asherton gritted his teeth.

She who gets mad for her friends, she who gets mad towards the kingdoms and empires that treats them as objects are now asking whether they have done their job properly.

She was still thinking about all the people they couldn't save despite her words of not wanting to help them no matter what.

She was still the kindest in the end.

"I-"

"Shhh, you did great. More than great. You were splendid and saved so many lives despite the difference in number. You fought hard enough, from the get go Saphira, you fought for the world and barely did things for yourself. You and your sister."

Upon the mention of her sister, the emotions she had been trying hard to control was released from her restrictions.

She raised her hand and grabbed on to Asherton's clothes while he hugs her.

"Hic..."

he first sound of crying came from her before she poured all of it out.

Being watched by those who lead the biggest empire f the world.

"Aaaaahhhh waaahhhhh Raynisha.... Raynisha was in pain grandfather. She was alone and in pain..."

After witnessing everything as a whole, being the one who knew the story as a whole, she was in even more pain upon knowing what her sister was going threw.

All along she was simply in pain because she had died, there was also anger at the fact that she chose to leave everything to her.

But knowing now that Raynisha chose to sacrifice herself for the rest and that she really was already hopeless when Saphira arrived at the scene, made it even more difficult for Saphira to accept everything.

"Raynisha was lonely and I didn't even notice," she cried harder for her sister and herself.

Back then it was Raynisha who felt lonely at the sudden change in the one she loves, the negative attitude of her squad towards the younger children. And most of all taking care of the children who really was still unaware of what was going on. While also looking after her sister who knew so much that she had wished Saphira didn't knew at the moment.

Raynisha's burdeen back then was not of the world but that of the ones she cherishes the most.

A burden far greater than simply watching over the world who are sttill stranger to you.

Saphira cried harder and harder until she had collapsed in Asherton's arms.

Asherton could only sigh as he carried her.

Everyone made way for him to bring her to rest.

No one tried to speak with him.

In the end, Vermilion Bird didn't become the mythological beast of the royal family but the one who still carried all the burden of the fight against teh darkness was his hosts.

"Spread it to the whole empire, the seven of them had returned to rest and that no one is to disturb them," Reginald chose to command instead.

Obviously people will know that they have returned, so keeping quiet about it is not an option, instead it is better to issue an order that no one is to disturb them.
