49 Ch-47 : The Final Selection

Halfway in their journey, Damien was reminded of one thing, he hurriedly looked at Tanjiro and said,

"Hey Tanjiro! Where are you gonna keep Nezuko-chan~ when we go to final selection?"

Tanjiro's eyes became wide in slow mo as the reality dawned on him, he quickly said,

"Yes! Where would I keep her? Thanks for telling me this Damien...I would quickly go to master Urodoki and quickly come back, you just wait here!"

{A/N : Sorry Tanjiro, this lazy author? forgot that you left Nezuko back at your master's house, I was too excited to meet with her lol!}

Without waiting for the reply, Tanjiro took a roundabout and,

*swoosh*

He again became Ninja hattori and flashed back to Master Urodoki's home.

Damien was just left into dust and intentionally or unintentionally he began singing,

(1 hour later~)

In front of Damien, a huffing and puffing Tanjiro was standing who was covered in sweat, Tanjiro said while taking rapid breaths,

"*huff* Let's go."

Damien just shook his head and said,

"No, Let's take a rest here."

Tanjiro looked at Damien in surprise, but soon warmth flowed in him as he smiled and said,

"Yeah, thanks."

Damien slid his one arm on Tanjiro's shoulder as they both went to a nearby tree to take rest.

After taking some rest and Tanjiro having his energy restored, the two friends stood up as they continued their journey.

After walking for 3-4 hours, they finally came to Mt. Fujikasane, they looked at the huge mountain as their blood boiled,

Tanjiro made a fist as he punched and said with a smile, "Let's go Damien!"

Damien also iterated him and they both began ascending the mountain.

After an hour of climbing, they came across to a long rows of wisteria tress, their surrounding turned into aesthetic purplish as a sense of magnificence and grandeur washed over them.

The surrounding was truly exhilarating for them, even though Damien was not much affected by it but for Tanjiro it was truly beautiful.

Beautiful purple trees with bioluminous insects made the environment very serene, there was neither a single voice nor any litter.

The awed Tanjiro and the pretendingly awed Damien walked over to the entrance of venue of examination.

Two large red pillars welcomed them, all the examinee were gathered here.

Most of examinees were talking to their peers and talking about their fucked up lives, some of the examinee were showing off their swords, masks and other equipments.

Well, of course there some lone wolves/puppies also, like Genya Shinazugawa and our destined-to-be-cucked Zenitsu Agatsuma.

Zenitsu was standing with his trademark scared shitless expression while Genya was looking at people as if they had stolen his girlfriend.

As soon as the duo arrived, many people glanced at them, their eyes lingered at them for a few seconds before they resumed whatever they were doing.

Damien also glanced at Zenitsu and Genya, he tried to remember if Genya had any girlfriend but he didn't seem to remember.

He was thinking deeply whether any of them had girlfriends, but in eyes of Tanjiro he seemed like to assess the skills of other examinees.

Tanjiro's admiration for him again sky-rocketed.

But Tanjiro's eyes also went to a beautiful girl sitting with a peaceful expression on her face, his gaze lingered for some time before he continued watching other people.

Damien naturally found Kanao Tsuyuri, but he won't go after her...he really didn't want to steal Tanjiro's girl, neither he had such thoughts when he watched the series nor he would be having such thoughts.

Rejoice Tanjiro, you are safe!

Suddenly, Tanjiro felt that someone had done a huge favour to him.

{A/N : Yep, I won't be taking Kanao.}

Soon, two emotionless lolis seem to be walking with lantern in their hands, they both were wearing the same clothes and anyone could tell that they were twins.

Their facial features were perfect but they didn't seem to have any emotion, they were just like dolls.

Their voice reverberated as all the crowd became silent,

"Everyone, we thank you for attending this year's Demon Slayer's Final Selection tonight. Here, the demon slayers have captured many demons alive, they are unable to leave due to wisteria."

Everyone sucked in cold breath, Damien's eyes flashed in murderous glint while Tanjiro clenched his calloused palms.

"To pass this examination, you have to survive for seven days."

"Now, be on your way, may god bless you."

They both bowed and but then their eyes took a glance at blood-red eyes, they just happen to see such a unique eye colour and when they were about to withdraw their gaze, Damien winked at both of them.

But contrary to his expectation that they will blush, they both tilted their head in wonder at the same time...after which they ignored him completely and went back.

*ouch!*

This was a huge blow to Damien.

Tanjiro was very determined and as he turned around to go with Damien, he saw that Damien was sitting on ground and drawing small circles.

Tanjiro's left eye twitched as he wondered what the heck this man was doing?!

But before he could go to 'wake' him up, he quickly stood and started moving before saying,

"What are you gawking at? Let's go."

This time, Tanjiro was left in dust.

(Inside Forest)

Tanjiro and Damien stood at the starting point as they both bumped their fists and Damien said,

"We will meet at this same point after seven days, let's see who will kill more demons."

Fighting intent surged in both of their eyes as they leaped in opposite directions.

Damien stood on a treetop as he first time saw the demons.

A demon was taking rapid breaths while he was behind a participant, the participant was just shivering and did not knew that he was about to be eaten.

Damien shook his head and suddenly his body blurred as he shoot himself to the demon and inhaled a mouthful of air, he spun around in midair and decapitated the demon.

The demon just stood frozen, he did not know why but he felt his connections to body been severed and just as he looked, he found his head in air, a person with blood-red eyes was staring at his headless body with no emotion.

"How...?"

The demon could not understand how he was killed, he was not even able to tear off a single human!

Such pathetic way of dying.

Damien shook his sword to remove the blood and he continued his trail.

The participant just now turned around to only find a headless demon body, he nearly pissed himself, he cried in terror before running away,

"I don't want to participate! Please let me go! Anyone help me! Please-"

A hand pierced his back as it removed his spinal cord, the demon continued his purge as he began eating him.

All his intestines, kidneys, liver, etc. was being devoured as blood splattered everywhere, other demons also came and completely devoured his body.

Meanwhile Damien continued his slaughtered, he killed all the demons in single strike, no demon was able to urge him to use his breathing style.

He just slashed them with his physical prowess.

Damien was running on ground where howls of other participants could be heard, suddenly he stopped moving.

He was now at a open area which was covered by large trees.

"Kekeke~ He could actually sense us brother...keke~"

A grotesque demon came who had his one eye punctured while his creepy long tongue moved on his face, he had three arms and few horns here and there.

"cheche~ You are right brother...he must be exquisite~ cheche~"

Another demon came who was exactly the same as previous with just difference being their complexion, one had darker complexion while other had pale skin.

The first demon said, "Just look at his skin brother...I attest that he would be the most delicious human we would ever have!"

The second demon also laughed creepily as he said, "Yes! Let's kill him quickly. Look how he can't even face us...I don't know how was he able to survive for 4 days."

Damien had his back faced to them, they thought that he might be scared shitless and did not even dare to face them but Damien was being amused to how much idiot these demons were...he in turn was wondering how were they not killed till now.

One of them leaped in air as his nails grew bigger and he made a claw, his face turned grotesque in menace, his eyes were fixed at Damien's neck.

But suddenly, Damien turned around shocking the demon who was midair to kill him, he could not even imagine the speed of Damien...he became much more horrified when he disappeared from his starting position.

Damien flashed to him as he spun around his sword to whole 360 degree around demon's neck, after that he pierced his sword tip into his eye and pulled his whole head along with his spine.

The other demon was very happy to have a free meal but suddenly, blood splashed on his tongue which made him more excited but next second his eyes widened as he blinked his eyes in shock only to see his brother's head flying in air along with his entire spine.

He looked at his brother's head being rolled on ground, the look on his brother's face was that of utter despair.

His hatred grew as he howled in grief before his teeth became 20 cm long, muscles grew on his entire body, his neck twisted and soon a horrifying demon came into scene.

Damien lifted his eyebrow as he continued his run towards him, the demon's body grew as he shouted...his voice was like someone scratching a metal plate with iron.

"I WiLL KiLL yOU!"

Ground began to shake and a hand came from beneath the ground towards Damien, he became startled as he quickle cut the arm.

Soon, tens of hands came and shoot towards him, Damien cut all of them one by one.

"aKAHAGAHAKhaga... KiLLL!!!"

Damien knew he can't go on like this, so, he took a deep breath as his blood-red eyes shone, he stomped on ground where all the arms were blasted off.

Damien elevated himself using air currents as his body became like an arrow and shoot towards demon's body.

Red lightning could be seen from Damien's eyes as his deep voice reverberated,

"Birth of Nebula."

His whole sword got covered in a black miasma as all his arms towards him got disintegrated.

"Noo...!!!"

The demon shouted as he felt his end was near, but he was unable to do anything as Damien slashed the demon's neck...his body disintegrated into thin air.

Damien cleaned his sword as he heaved a sigh, "Haa~ Finally I used my first form of breath...it was quite powerful."

He was amazed at the power of his tailor made breathing style.

(Last Day)

Damien heard a demon talking behind a bush,

"I killed Urodoki's shits hahah~ they kept howling and begging in pain...but I dislocated their every bone and cut each and every muscle of them!"

Damien's eyes grew wide as he quickly jumped from the bush to the big area where he found a injured Tanjiro and the final antagonist of final selection - The Hand Demon.
