Bony fellow

Moments after Eric left the Underworld, the eye, which was watching him, was ordered to return to its creator.

While the eye flew, his surroundings slowly changed.

The dark, cold, misty plain heated up gradually, losing both his fog and lack of light thanks to rivers of lava sprouting from the earth, which moved towards as if attracted a three-headed giant Doberman Cerberus.

The incoming souls advanced in multiple rows, as many as the streams of lava, before uniting in three groups in order to be judged by one of the three heads of the mythic guardian.

In fact, even though the outer appearance could trick the observer.

Cerberus' ability to identify the dangerous souls to keep the kingdom stable was extraordinary.

In his millennia of service, the internal rebellion episodes could be counted on the fingers of one hand and were always caused by the outer interference of other gods.

After a while, the eye arrived at the so-called Hades palace, where, in truth, Hades didn't live.

In the Underworld, as in Panpolis, Atlantis, and Empyrea, there wasn't any god because of the limitations of causality.

The actual reigning families, though, had at least received blessings from the respective god, and in the rarest case, they were the progeny of them described with the demigod term.

Similarly, the royal palace kept his name as a symbol of his link to the patron god of the kingdom, but it wasn't an actual divine abode.

As the myths of the foundation recalled, the first stone of the castle was gifted by Hades, but time was the best pill to obtain oblivion, so the general population didn't know anything about it.

The truth was that the mythical stone was a link between Ouroboros and Hades.

In this way, he could, for example, open a spatial fissure for his subordinate in order to receive his report.

By chance, one eye disappeared from Ouroboros.

It reappeared in a place that looked like a rocky mountain, the view was breathtaking, but the figure watching down towards the cloud banks gave at the same time the idea of strength and loneliness.

No form of life was in the radius of kilometers from him.

His aura was the diametral opposite to life, black in color with such density to be capable of bending the path of the light rays.

Sensing he wasn't alone anymore: he sighed lightly and showed a rare smile worth thousands of words.

In this way started his speech:'' What can you tell me about him?''

He didn't need to speak as the eye was created by him and could be controlled easily as his hands, just thinking what he wanted.

Even though this was true, other intentions were visible in his eyes.

Maybe he wanted to relieve his loneliness by speaking to someone, or the power of habit made him give simple-to-understand orders to the ones who followed him as their leader.

Be it as it may, in less than a minute, flowed in his mind hours of images depicting the meeting between Eric and Nemesis.

Slowly absorbing all the new information.

Then turned again towards the clouds with a slight grin, tilted towards his left, stamped on his face, and facial tics appeared on the right side of his visage.

*Bony fellow uh?! How dare she, that blood-hungry demon!… Anyway, I guess I was right.

If things continue this way… *

Then regaining his somber appearance, his eyes focused as if trying to pierce the ground.

He actually managed to do it and started watching the three Fates working.

Between the various threads, one represented Earth, another Ouroboros.

These threads, in turn, were composed of thousands, millions, and billions of wires.

When some threads ended, they were usually connected to others, as many others as the children of that 'thread'(person).

Knowing full well how long an average person's life lasts, he could understand that every couple of hundred years, less than ten threads shifted from one world to the other.

Between these, one line was visibly thicker than the others.

While the others had only one color, this one had as many colors as the rainbow, but the two divine women assigned to the continuation and termination of this complex work, even though extremely gifted in speed and accuracy in the hands, every time they had to decide what to do about that special wire, suddenly slowed, only for a fraction of second but in a way noticeable to Hades, as if unsure about how to continue progressing.

He's creating problems without even knowing it.

This will certainly attract any Pantheon's attention within a short lapse of time.

I have to act fast.

If I want to stop the situation from worsening, that's the only way.

The clouds' movements were more erratic as if representing his troubled self.

He then sighed and decided on his following actions.

His index finger raised towards the sky, and a pine, tens of meters long, pierced the previously immovable white wall in front of him.

As if the most natural thing was happening, the eye servant didn't even blink.

While the tree slowly lost its dark green foliage before being separated into three equal parts and slowly becoming three classy scrolls.

As if taking a pen after preparing the piece of paper where to write, Hades proceeded to cut his left thumb keeping his flowing blood in a glass ampoule using as a stylus, one of the pine needles he caught before.

Damn bureaucracy! It sure is a way to ascertain the identity of the sender, and gives a certain gothic side to it, which I can't say I don't appreciate, but it is way too barbaric, of a way to send official messages!

Keeping similar thoughts in his mind for a couple of minutes, in the meantime, he decided what to write in order to obtain the desired result.

Satisfied with the completed letters, checking with relief his regrown left thumb.

He raised again his right index, and in this way, the three scrolls moved towards three different portals.

Only one thought now in his mind :

*I hope you're ready for what's to come! *

This is the first time I try to write a web novel.

English isn’t my mother language either soI'm sure I have much to improve and consequently I will make a lot of blunders.

Every comment is a gift for me because it can help me speed up the process of improvement and hopefully this way it will be fun seeing the change in the long term.
