The Silver lake

It's dark, why is it so dark here? With heavy and sluggish eyes I try to adjust to my surroundings. The ground feels hard against my back but smooth. I have no idea where I am. I sit up taking a look around but it's still too dark to see anything. I can feel a draft of wind to my left. With nowhere else to go I decide to follow it. Getting up wasn't an issue but my steps feel very wobbly. It must be because the draft I'm feeling is making my knees shake. I can't lie it is very cold right now I need to do something about this quickly. As i'm thinking about what i should be doing I miss a step and fall hitting a wall to my side. Luckily it was close enough that I could use it to stabilize my footing. With one hand supporting myself against the wall i continue to move forward albeit slow. I can hear what sounds like dripping echoing from the direction I'm going. Is this a Cave that i'm in? I guess the only way I'll find out is by moving forward.

THis must be a pretty deep Cave. I've walked for almost ten minutes yet I still haven't found the entrance or light or that matter. The wind opposite of me is picking up step by step and the smooth texture of the walls have become rougher as time passes. With more ridges and sharper points lining the the surface making it harder to use as support. I had managed to cut my palm on one of such edges. But surprisingly the pain wasn't there. Finally! My eyes are able to see light outlining my exit. Making my way over and shielding my face from the sudden gust pushing against me. I move my arm to see a cliffside. With trees spreading out as far as I can see. Am I on a mountain? The cliff goes down at least 30-40meters. I'll have to climb down from here if i want to make any sense of where I am.

Trying to get down the mountain was a challenge. As I didn't have any rope or anything convenient to make my descent any easier. I hade the dumb but last resort of climbing down with my bare hands. Cant say it is easy as there isn't much footing and my previously cut hand is throbbing. Must be the damaged skin as it feels i am tearing away more skin with time. My feet have nearly slipped multiple times but with the adrenaline taking action long ago im just barely able to hold on. Reaching to my right to grab hold of what looks like a hole in the cliff wall. I feel a sudden sting and to my shock a snake's head is visible. Currently sinking its devilishly long fangs into my fingers. My nerves instantly react to the feeling as if fire is flowing through my veins trying to replace my blood. In a panic I pull away losing my hold on the rocks and tumbling down towards the trees below. Instead of thinking about the good chance of death at this point i scorn myself for the dumb idea that has lead me to this desent.

Who thinks it's a good idea to climb down a cliff and thinks he'll make it in one piece? Dead guys that's who! My body now making contact with the trees makes the first branch the victim of my left arm with a snap coming from just below my shoulder. The sheer force twists my body making the next point of impact my floating ribs on my right. If fear hadn't taken me at this point i'd be screaming at the amount of pain I can feel right now. Finally reaching near the bottom the constant branches have reduced my speed enough that with a solid thud into the dirt i had landed on the roots at the trees base which to my luck still broke my ankle. But seeing as the pain can't possibly get any worse I can still manage to get up. Leaning against the tree of judgment as I'll call it.

Blood is already staining its bark from where my hand passes. Im am surely going to die at this point. And without much else to do I decide to keep moving until my body gives up. It's better then waiting around and thinking about this pain. Plus if i die near this tree i'm afraid my grudge against its conveniently placed branches will cause me to be at unrest in my afterlife. I wonder if i would haunt it. Letting any travelers suffer the same broken bones as I? Either way I wouldn't want to imagine the start of that horror story in the making. Limping forward through bushes and stumbling over countless roots and logs I have absolutely no Idea where I am. The only thing keeping me going at this point is the fear of being eaten by the bugs crawling all around and the beautiful fireflies I can see in the moonlight. They seem to be attracted to something in front of me as I've started seeing more and more of them. Moving the branches obstructing my view with my only good arm at this point. I look out on an opening with a lake. Didn't really expect that in the middle of a forest like this. Guess the trees gotta get their water from somewhere. The surface of the water looks so calm with a sheen of blue and silver. The moon light reflecting off the water's surface is mesmerizing. I can feel a sensation of coolness but a refreshing and inviting feeling coming from the water as if it'll cleanse me from my blight.

I can't help but limp forward but my feet suddenly stop in their tracks as I can hear something break the surface. I look up only to see a woman taking a gasp of air. Time slows in that instant as I stare at the beautiful woman in the middle of the lake. The moonlight reflecting off her pale skin exposing the drops of water sliding down her shoulders. Her black hair feels as if it'll swallow any light around it. The fireflies only highlight the breathtaking scene of this woman's presence. The only thing out of place is my vision is turning as if everything is flipped on its side. But the pain throbbing in my head snaps me back into focus as i realize I had fallen over. My eyes have started to blur. So this was my limit. I knew this was coming. Guess i was lucky to see such a scene before my inevitable death. I try my best to focus my blurred vision on the woman in my final moments and I see her turn in my direction. The last thing I notice is her eyes. They are a clear and striking purple. That can't be natural can it. Its presence outshines everything else but the look in her eyes shows the true coldness of the world as if everything is shown in its true colors those are the eyes that can see right through me in one glance. And once again everything has gone dark. And I am back to where I started. Except this time I feel so tired. I can't fight this feeling to sleep any longer. At least seeing that woman, I have no regrets.
