Chapter 20- Spawn Room is No Joke

The door opens to a vast room the size of a basketball court, where at the end was steps that led up to an arcane circle with a larger goblin holding a staff wearing a witch hat.

He notices me and Garbhan enter the room and raises his hand and staff, shouting in an unknown language. The circle begins to rotate and glow a ghastly purple, and from it rises two wolves with goblins riding on each.

Multiple circles appear on the walls as well, goblins crawling from them dropping to the floor beneath them.

I draw both my daggers and prepare to cast my blessings on myself then realize this is the perfect opportunity to level Mana Leech.

Activating the skill, I then cast all my blessings on myself and Garbhan, sprinting at the nearest goblin.

The goblin jumps at me, club raised above his head, I quicken my pace and catch him midair slicing through his stomach, cutting him in half.

Three goblins with spears rush at me the same time.

I parry the first spear thrust aimed at my head to the side and stab its stomach, then move its body in the way of the other two spears, skewering the already dead goblin.

They try vainly to dislodge their spears, but I don't give them enough time as I slice both their throats with my right dagger in one fluid motion and prepare for my next opponents. I hear a howl and notice the goblin riding the wolf stalking me.

Mana-100

The wolf charges and I attempt to cast all my curses on both respectively, only to find they counted as one entity.

Harrowing Curse takes effect as red smoke started rising from both, but they remained unfazed and continued sprinting at me.

Deciding I needed to quickly dispose of this enemy, I posed ready to counter their attack. Coming close to me, the wolf jumps, and I dash at its now exposed underbelly, as I glance at the goblin to see what weapon he has.

A bow returns my gaze, aimed directly at my chest. I quickly dive to the left of the wolf and hear an arrow hit with a twang where I once was.

Before I can get on my feet, the wolf lands on top of me, pinning me to the ground. The wolf bites down aimed at my exposed head, and I raise my left arm to protect myself, and immediately feel the pain of teeth sinking into my flesh.

Luckily the armor and defensive blessing was enough to stop the wolf from tearing through my arm, but it's not looking good. The wolf shakes his head attempting to tear off my arm, keeping the goblin from properly aiming at me.

Using every bit of my strength I try to stand, but the wolf bites more vigorously. Pain assaulting me, I manage to at least sit up, giving me enough space to notice the wolfs slightly exposed underbelly. Using my left dagger I stab at the wolfs stomach, causing it to let go of my arm yelping in pain.

Not letting up, I repeatedly stab the wolf who falls on its back on top of the goblin who was riding it.

The wolf who still isn't dead yet, attempts to weakly roll back to it's feet but I pounce on the wolf and bring down my dagger on the wolfs throat killing it.

The goblin underneath the wolf struggles to break free, but I bring my daggers down on it too, ending its struggle.

Standing I look around to see more goblins circling me, cautious and slowly inching closer. I feel the pain in my arm slowly fade as my perk begins to heal me.

I pose, both weapons in my hand backing towards the wall, ready to strike any goblins who come at me.

As two goblins decide to take the initiative and charge, I hear a chant and look at the staffed goblin, who now has a fireball in his hand, which he launches my direction.

I dive out the way of the spell, that explodes where I once was, and a goblin reaches me before I can recover from my dive and catches me as I'm attempting to stand.

His club smashes into my already injured right arm, the pain makes me drop my dagger, to which I grit my teeth and use my left dagger to stab at the goblin. The next goblin reaches me and stabs at my head, I duck under his spear and slice him across the stomach.

Struggling to my feet, I hear the staffed goblin chant again, and see another fireball heading my way.

Instead of diving out the way I try to dash to the right of it, but don't clear the explosion causing me to launch forward, pain assaulting my back.

Disoriented, I look up to see five goblins rushing at me and I struggle to my feet.

With Mana Leech still active, I cast Curse of the Tortoise on all the goblins heading towards me, but two goblins reach me stabbing at my chest.

I deflect the first spear further left, missing my chest and counter by slicing the goblins throat, killing it.

Unfortunately, the second spear reaches me, stabbing into my side, but not that far as the armor and defensive blessing once again keep it from penetrating too deep, but wounding me, nonetheless.

Knowing that if I panic or lose focus that my death will be imminent, I grab the protruding spear locking the goblin in place momentarily as he tries to free the spear from my grasp, causing me more pain.

I quickly stab the goblin through the stomach to see another goblin behind him, who swings a club at my head.

I duck, the club swing missing and I pull the spear from my body and stab the goblin with it.

The remaining goblins separate and attack me from both sides, the Curse of Tortoise still affecting them.

Both charge and reach me, the goblin on the left swings at my head, while the right swings at my leg.

I prioritize the left, stepping back towards the right goblin dodging the hit to my head as I slice at the goblins stomach.

The club on the right connects with my leg, bringing me to a kneel and I quickly turn and slice the throat of the goblin who hit me. Now free of goblins, I sit resting my now injured leg and look towards Garbhan.

The other Goblin Rider and other Goblin corpses lay around him as his bloody mace rests at his side, not a scratch on him. He walks towards me and throws at me a bottle.

"Drink, it'll speed your recovery so we can deal with that annoying guy. Matter of fact, you deal with it, and we'll call it a day." I down the bottle, relief spreading throughout my body and I rise to my feet. I glance at the goblin with the staff,

Goblin Summoner LVL ????

Health: 1000

Mana: 1500

I start walking towards the Goblin Summoner, who laughs, confident he can kill me, and starts chanting again.

Now under my focus, I cast Curse of Magic Disruption and Mana Leech to use the Goblin Summoners mana to activate all my blessings on myself.

I then add Curse of Health Reduction on him, Harrowing Curse taking effect. A fireball appears in his hand as he finishes casting, confusion visible on his face.

I don't give him time to think as I take that opportunity to rush at him, making him come back to focus on me, as he tosses the fireball in my direction.

I dive out the way to fully clear it's radius and recover with a roll, quickly getting up to continue running as I hear him chanting once again.

Finished with his chant, his entire hand and arm is covered in fire, which he reaches out, a wave of flames coming out on the ground in front of me, then more flames in a line in front of him.

Dodging the first line of flames I continue running at him, and jump over the line of flames before him, slightly burning my legs. Surprised he begins to chant again as I'm approaching him. I jump to close the distance faster and prepare my dagger to slice his throat.

As I get nearer still in the air, he smiles as he finishes his chant and raises his hand towards me.

Nothing happens, and he is once again visibly confused, bringing a smile to my face as my weapon arcs in front of me swiping at his throat.

He stumbles back, grasping his throat, gargling on his own blood and as I stand over him with the life leaving his eyes, my only thought was, 'For my first mini boss fight, he was really annoying.'

Suddenly the circle flashes again but instead of monsters spawning, a small chest appears with bags of gold spilling from them, and the magic circle goes blank, fading from existence.

"Help yourself to what you see, there's a high chance I can't use anything here." I approach the small chest and open it to reveal ring on a red pillow. Picking up the ring and inspecting it, a description shows,

[Storage Ring Tier 2 -Can hold up to 20 items of various size, maintaining the current state of whatever is stored. Storing the same item stacks, consuming only one storage unit.]

I equip the storage ring and store all the gold around the chest, seeing that the total is 500 gold. I notice 3 clear orbs the size of a golf ball that I point out to Garbhan.

"Oh, nice haul, those are mana orbs, found commonly on higher level monsters. The higher level the monster, the more valuable the mana core. Mana orbs help level your class. Which reminds me, we should check the Goblin Summoner for one."

He shows me where to find the mana orb on the Goblin Summoner, and hands me the mana orb to store.

"Alright let's head back. I'm starting to get hungry and I'm pretty tired from all that I've done." We make our way back to the main room where we first entered, and see that the rock looks natural against the wall. As we ascended the dark stairs back to the decaying tree, I see a notification box.

Mana Handler LVL 2 -> LVL 4

Weapon Mastery LVL 4 -> LVL 7]

Walking back to the cottage, I was studying my stats and knew I had to return to the dungeon to train.

The rewards were great from the spawn room, but if Garbhan wasn't there, I would be dead for sure.

But now that I knew what to expect from the spawn room I could minimize injuries.

After eating and washing, I head to my room where I pull out a mana orb and begin to study it. I decide to consume one to experiment how much of a level gain I receive. Popping it into my mouth, it melts dissolving into a sweet sugary texture.

[Sage Class LVL 12-> LVL 15]

I gained 3 levels and with an additional 3 orbs it would take me to Sage Class LVL 24, one off from gaining a subclass. I heavily considered eating the remaining orbs, then realized even if I was level 24, I would still need to level my skills and spells before returning to the Crystal.

As much as I hated it, I would have to be patient and maximize all available spells and skills before I visit the Crystal.

I eat another Crystal however as I like the sugary flavor and save the rest for later when I get a subclass. Granted that I don't get any more from dungeon hunts.
