No peace of mind

Pete POV

Vegas is simply the most handsome man I've ever met in my entire life. Period. But all the attention he gets really makes me uneasy. Vegas makes heads turn whenever he walks into a room. The moment we entered Yok's Club, I could see all eyes on him. Girls and men alike ready to willingly succumb to his domineering presence. I wonder when I'll get used to it. Never, I guess.

He invited some of his friends from the university to celebrate the end of the final exams at the club, along with me and Macau. Mostly young wealthy heirs of business partners who are attending the same major at university. They seem to gravitate towards Vegas and try their best to be nice to me. Otherwise, Vegas would kick them out of his life for sure.

Vegas is no longer hanging out with those psycho bastards that intended to rape me when I was held captive by him.

I gaze at Vegas from a distance while getting a drink at the bar with Macau. Vegas is talking excitedly with that junior, Nong Yim, whose presence still bothers me a lot. Nop once told me that they were close. Nong Yim has delicate features and a very sophisticated fashion sense. I must admit that boy stands out. Plus, he's super nice to me, which annoys me even more! Like, I don't even have a plausible justification for despising him and cutting him out of our lives... damn... we could almost be friends.

"Don't think too much, Phi... my brother only has eyes for you" - Macau said noticing my troubled look when Yim touched Vegas' thigh. I started counting to ten.

"Oh, I know!" I faked a smile. I'm pretty good at it. It's my way of hiding my true feelings. I exercise a lot of self-control when living with Vegas, for different reasons.

"Phi Pete!" Yim happily called for me to join the conversation.

Yim pulled me by the arm to sit beside him, facing Vegas. I noticed an expensive white gold bracelet with his initials on it.

"Oh, Phi Vegas gave it to me for my birthday. Precious, right? I don't take it off for nothing. Cherish it too much". The brat touched the bracelet with sparkles in his eyes. "I'm sure Phi Vegas gives Phi Pete lots of treasures". Sure...he gives me food! Annoying brat. I'm full of fake smiles tonight!

"I need your help!"

"Hmn...sure..." I replied with suspicion. "What can I do for you?"

"You must teach me how to conquer a guy"

"What?" I was taken by surprise.

"Since you've chained the heart of the most unreachable one, I'm sure you have some foolproof methods, Phi Pete." I'm pretty sure I was the one in chains, though...literally.

"Cut it out, Yim" Vegas intervened, but was ignored by Yim.

"Come on Phi Pete! Tell me how to seduce men!"

"...Actually... since I'm not into men... I don't think I could help at all..." I was a little annoyed by the question. "I would not know how to seduce a man." I answered, which apparently caused a deep silence among the people around us.

"...I think I got confused. So how come you date Phi Vegas if you don't like men?"

That moment I realized I fucked up.

Vegas' friends were looking at him, then switching to me.

"Well...I mean...I like Vegas, and only Vegas..." I looked at Vegas, flashing a sincere smile. Vegas smiled back, pleased with my answer... Phew! "...so...yeah...I don't think I can advise you on how to conquer men since I don't know how I got this magnificent one myself...hahaha" I smiled awkwardly.

"Pete didn't win me over." Vegas said bluntly to his friend. And added, turning his head to look at me.

"I begged him to stay with me instead." His friends looked surprised, as old Vegas would never say or do this sort of thing before. I felt happy.

"...so... oops...sorry, Venice's nanny is calling me. Excuse me for a moment." As Vegas would say: Saved by the bell, from continual embarrassment. I hope it's nothing serious about Venice, though.

"Wow...how lovely, Phi Vegas...but..."

"What now, Nong Yim?"

"...It makes me wonder...nevermind..."

"What?"

"...How do you know?"

"Know what?"

"...Don't be mad at me...but...since Phi Pete is not interested in men...in general... How do you know if he...?"

"What do you mean? Just say it!"

"...sorry for my intrusion, Phi...but how do you know Phi Pete won't be interested in women again?

"We have no doubts about how we feel about each other".

"Sorry Phi! I didn't mean to make you angry. I'm very sorry. I'm being nosy. You are completely right. What you guys have is real and unbreakable. You even allowed a woman to live in your house to take care of your child. And Phi Pete doesn't even mind us hanging out together! He is not jealous at all.

"..."

...

"Jenny, is Venice ok?"

"Everything is all right, Khun Pete. I just called because you asked me to report about Venice. I think baby Venice heard your voice, though, Khun Pete! He wants to talk to Daddy, how cute!" I spent quite a while talking to Venice outside the club. Hearing his giggle made me smile. Those real smiles at least. The same I gave to his father moments ago.

"Ok, thank you Jenny. Good night". I decided to go to the restroom before heading back to Vegas.

I heard two friends of Vegas talking in front of the sink. I was in a cabin.

"Vegas is different, don't you think? Maybe he's found his soulmate." I smiled at the comment.

"That Cinderella? How does a stylish guy like Phi Vegas get into a relationship with a simple bodyguard?" I'm not smiling anymore.

"Don't be mean...he is nice and cute though"

"So dull...a nobody with no background". I wanted to punch that pretty face so bad.

"Somebody is jealous...you've slept with Vegas, right...? Who hasn't?" Vegas, you son of a bitch! God, that nymphomaniac! I was feeling angry.

"Shut up...we've seen this before... Sooner or later, Vegas will get bored. He always does. I mean... this guy doesn't suit Phi Vegas. I thought Phi Vegas would date Yim eventually. I already feel sorry for that poor guy."

Who the hell you think you are to pity me, you fuckers!! How resilient I must be?

"Hey, Phi Pete! Are you there?" – Macau entered the restroom calling for me.

Those guys stopped talking and I'm quite sure they acknowledged my presence in the restroom and hurried to leave.

"Damn, Macau, you startled me" I was leaving the restroom.

"Phi, come smoke with me outside, please". Macau tried to drag me towards the exit.

"Are you crazy? You don't even smoke, Macau! I don't smoke anymore! Your brother would kill you if you smoked". I scolded Macau.

"Phi Pete...please..." His plea sounded very suspicious.

"Macau..." I held his shoulders. I saw some restlessness in his eyes. "What happened? Where is Vegas?"

"..."

I headed back to our table. Only a couple of his friends were chatting. I immediately looked at the dance floor.

I got aback. Vegas was dancing with his friend. In fact, he was dancing sensually with that Nong Yim, to be more precise.

"...Phi...they just drank too much...don't mind that, please. I will get Phi Vegas from there!"

I felt like shooting Vegas right in the head. I always have my gun with me, just in case. And this seems to be the case!Damn you!

"Phi Pete...please...."

I calmly turned to speak to Macau.

"Macau, tell Vegas that Venice has a mild fever, but he can't sleep. I'm going back to the mansion to take care of him". Vegas doesn't need to hurry. He can enjoy the night."

"...Phi Pete!...Please... don't leave us..."

"..."

Yes, I still have my pride. I'm a man, for God's sake. Despite everything I've seen or heard tonight, I'm not going to make a scene. The best thing I can do is leave.
