Chapter 04: Circle Hero Academy(01)

Somewhere on Earth's Moon

Monday, September 6th, 0108 PA; 07:30(CST)

A 140 cm tall boy with silver eyes, jaw length hair that was parted down the middle and tan skin, lay on his back with his hands behind his head.

This was Kai Nakai who had been training almost nonstop for the past 5 years since he awakened his powers at age 8.

Gazing at the Earth he wore a green t-shirt that did nothing to hide his toned athletic frame with bluejeans, and black tennis shoes.

'The Circle Academy entrance ceremony… Grandma said I won't have to take the entrance exams, none of the S ranks do. I just can't help but feel nervous though.'

I wonder what the other kids will be like?

'Well at least John is going to be going to the same school. So I'll know someone at least.'

Kai took a few strands of his dark silver hair between his fingers moving the ends so they were in front of his eyes.

'I haven't hung out with him since we awakened though. I wonder if he'll even recognize me.'

At this point the black holo-phone on his left wrist began to vibrate. Kai looked at his device and saw that his alarm was going off.

He immediately took off running towards the Earth.

After he got inside of the atmosphere, Kai checked his phone that was now nonstop vibrating.

'Crap… 10 missed calls and 20 messages from Grandma.'

As Kai approached his house he saw his grandmother standing outside with her arms crossed, dressed in her Hero suit that looked like a red compression suit with black highlights along the seams.. She was looking around, grimacing in annoyance.

When he got within 30 km she started turning her head and she locked eyes with him by the time he was 5 km out. Her brow furrowed just as he stopped in front of her.

'Yep, she definitely looks mad. Well I could always just run away. She'd never be able to catch up…'

'No… last time I tried that she grounded me for a month. I might as well hear her out.'

"KAI NAKAI, YOU BETTER NOT HAVE BEEN…"

She looked him up and down, her eyebrow twitching as she did. Her mouth formed into a stiff grin. "Kai what did I say about going to space?"

Kai's body tensed as he looked at his grandmother.

"Don't go into space because even the other S+ ranks can't, so it will only draw attention we don't want or need." He quoted word for word what she had told him the first time she found out he left the atmosphere.

She stepped closer to him and then went to slap him on the back of the head.

'I better not dodge it'll just make her angrier…'

BOOOOM!!!

Her hand connected with the back of his head and a blast of air pressure shot out in every direction causing a cloud of dust to shoot out in every direction.

"Don't worry, I think I got all the radioactive moon du…"

'Uh oh…'

"..."

Mai put her palm to her forehead as she dropped her head. "Kai…Please tell me that was just regular dust that happened to become radioactive."

"..."

Mai took a deep breath and sighed. "...Go get changed so you can get to the entrance ceremony on time… Just don't be late"

He rubbed the back of his head as she took off into the sky headed east.

'It's not like I couldn't be there before she could blink. Right… There's definitely going to be at least one other S+ rank and a lot of S ranks. So I can't go full speed near the city.'

Well better get some more appropriate clothes on then.

'Wait… Crap, I didn't even pack yet.'

BEEP!

A message notification sounded on his phone.

Looking at it he saw a new text message from his grandmother.

He looked at the sky and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

'She acts like she hasn't reminded me a million times already.'

Kai then sent a reply.

With that Kai's eyes shown with pale silver light and electrical arcs of the same hue flowed across his body. The world froze stiff in his eyes as he walked into the house.

To anyone watching a dark green backpack just appeared on his back and the door was now closed. His clothes had morphed into a dark gray polo shirt with black BDU pants and black running shoes. A grin appeared on his face.

Then he disappeared…
