1 "BIRTH"

ARNAV

Jett laughed as they got out of the movie theatre. "Vampires aren't like that," I huffed. "And we can have children. At least the purebloods vampires can."

"Are you a pureblood?" Jett asked, eating the rest of his popcorn.

"No, but mom is, she's the daughter of Dracula."

Jett choked on a kernel. "Wh-what? Your mother... Is Dracula's daughter?"

I chuckled, glancing at him. "The movie had it right, but he had two children. A son and daughter. The son was killed by the Turks. He took his daughter and hid away for a long time. My dad found her and, well... at first they hated each other. Or at least my father tried to get my mother to leave him alone. But it didn't work out that way."

Jett shook his head. "I can't believe your mother is-"

"Hold it."

They blinked, glancing at the man in front of them. He pulled a gun, and Jett froze. I grabbed Jett, pulling him behind me. "Easy now. All I want is your wallet, not your life," the guy said.

I reached into my pocket, holding it out to him. "Take it."

The man grabbed it. "Now the other one."

Jett frowned. "I have no money, it's just my ID and business cards."

"Just give me your wallet."

Jett pulled it out and handed the wallet over. He took it, glancing at them. "Now, go to the alley."

"We gave you what you wanted. Let us go."

"In the alley. Now!"

Jett held onto my arm tightly as we walked to the dark alley. "Right now would be a good time to go vamp on him," Jett whispered.

"I'm not going to go vamp on a drug addict. I could get a second high off him."

"What?"

"I'll-"

There was a loud bang, and red spread across Jett's chest. "JETT!"

He looked down, seeming surprised. The man was smirking. "Your turn."

He turned the gun on him. "N-no."

He turned the gun to me... And Jett lunged in front of me. Saved me. The second bullet hitting his ribs. "JETT! NO!"

Jett hit the ground, and my control snapped. In a flash I was behind the man, savouring the crack of his neck. He deserved it.

The shaky breath got my attention back and I scrambled to Jett's side, pulling his body close. He looked up at me with big brown eyes. "Jett."

I gently caressed his cheek. This couldn't be happening. Jett was gasping now, his lungs hurting and blood leaking from his lips. "Heh, I guess... I guess we had fun."

I was shaking. No. This wasn't happening. It couldn't be. "Hold on, I'll... I'll call-"

"It's to... Too late."

I shook my head, giving a small smile. "No. It's not."

I leaned down. "Arnav..."

"Don't fight it."

I gently pulled him closer, biting into his neck. Jett gasped in pain. His blood tasted wonderful. "A-Arnav."

I grabbed his shoulders, holding him tighter. "Arnav!"

Jett's back arched, eyes wide as the pain went through his chest. I pulled away, laying him down before gently biting my own wrist, putting it to Jett's mouth.

I held my wrist there and Jett started shaking and struggling, but I held him still. Soon his body went limp, the bullets toppling to the ground as the holes in his chest began to heal, his eyes closing. I pulled my wrist away, watching him and praying to any god he'd pull through. Leaning into his chest, I listened to his dying heart. Good. Good, he was going to be okay.

I picked him up, glancing around. With no one around, I quickly hurried home, closing the blinds and sitting down beside him. Waiting.

JETT

My head was spinning, chest aching. Something wasn't right. I didn't feel right. And then Arnav was above me, looking down with blue eyes. "Careful Jett."

I tried to speak, but choked. I felt heavy and... wrong. "Your okay."

Arnov put his hand on my head. I tried to speak but there was no oxygen in my lungs, forcing a coughing fit. I shouldn't have been alive. I felt sick. "Stop trying to breathe for a moment, okay?"

I looked up at him, panicking. "It's okay." Arnov sat down. "Calm down."

I looked up at him wide-eyed. "Calm down."

Arnov held his hand out, a cut across it. I scented the blood, panicking rising. Calm? Calm?! I'm not fucking breathing! I thought.

Arnav flinched. "Jeez. Your good at the telepathy." Telepathy? "You need to calm down. Your freaking out will just make you worse. Lay down and calm down."

I AM laying down. I can't MOVE!

Arnav sighed and brought his wrist to his lips, biting down. After a few moments, he bent down and pressed his lips against my own and forced the blood into me. I choked. Gross. "Be nice. I'll teach you to hunt later. Right now your body needs blood."

What did you do to me?! Arnov pulled away, looking down at me with such worried eyes. "Saved you."

A growl slipped out of my lips. Progress, kind of. What. Did. You. Do! Arnov took a step back. "I... I turned you."

"ARNAV!"

Caleb ran in, having heard his brother's name yelled. He froze when he spotted Jett, moving back. I am going to kill both of you! Caleb left quickly as Arnav looked at him. "Jett-"

His body jerked as he forced himself upright, making himself cough. Arnav put his hand on my back, but I shoved him off, feeling ill."You need fresh blood. I... Er, made a connection with you."

"I..."

I choked, feeling whosey. You're dead. Arnav flinched. "I couldn't let you die."

I would have been better off dead. Arnov looked away. "Its... It's okay."

Go to "hell!"

A shiver ran down my spine, suddenly feeling cold. Arnav moved away. I forced my feet to move, forced my legs to swing over the side. "Easy, "Arnav murmured, moving back over to try and help.

"Stay... away... from... me," I choked out.

"Jett, you need me for now."

"Go. To. HELL."

Arnov frowned but didn't try again. I forced myself to my feet and toppled forward. With a groan, I tried again, pushing myself up and managing to again stumble to my feet again, hand braced on the wall. "I... Can take you to my house. My mother... She knows how to take care of fledgling."

I gave him the finger. Arnav smiled a bit. "She can also give you blood."

I forced my legs to walk. A step. Then another. I felt Arnov eyes on me, watching my every move. I grabbed a hoodie, nearly falling over as I put it on, covering the holes in my shirt where the bullets had gone through and where my own blood had stained, stumbling for the door. "Jett wait!"

"Go away."

"You need me, Jett. At this moment you're weak. Your body is slowly adjusting."

"Why couldn't you just leave me there to die!"

Arnov frowned. "Max would be upset. And... Well... I... Like you."

I laughed bitterly. "Max would have survived. And I don't care about YOU," I seethed.

Arnav frowned, glancing away. I stumbled out the door, Caleb catching me. "Hey, are you... Okay?

I snarled. Caleb blinked. "Ummm careful. Your fangs are out. You could bite your lip."

Too late for that warning. I could feel the blood running into my mouth. I shoved away from him, storming out.
