3 Bloodline

Nathaniel was on a mission here, and running into a werewolf and then a hunter did definitely sidetracked him. He first sensed the wolf following him as soon as he stepped out of the bar, and he was so focussed on the werewolf that he didn't even notice that a hunter was following the wolf as well.

Currently the person he was looking for was not where he had located him earlier, driving Nathaniel to even bigger frustration. Nevertheless, thinking about it he couldn't help but chuckle while recalling how things went on. It had been a long time since he found any human (even if this one was an original hunter) to be this challenging. How could he not be intrigued? He wondered.

Nathaniel closed his eyes and focussed all his energy into his hearing. From the whirring noises of some insects to the loud traffic of the city over a mile apart, everything was clear to him. He just needed to level up a little, filter the unwanted noise and focus on that one noise that he had been looking for for a while now.

Pretty soon, he felt a click in the air that was a faint, but precise noise of a skin being pierced by a vampire's skin. A smirk appeared on Nathaniel's face. "Found you." he rushed to the site and soon found his target. A young boy draining a middle aged ragged man to the point of death.

"Have you been starving for days or what"? Nathaniel couldn't help but comment. The young man in front of him went still and let the body drop dead on the ground, following which he turned around to come face to face with Nathaniel.

"He killed someone, I thought it's only fair that he got a taste of his own medicine." in a charmingly deeper voice, the young man in front of Nathaniel declared. Even though the boy in front of him was supposed to be a vampire, something about his heart rate that beats like a hummingbird was oddly suspicious. While Vampires weren't technically without a heartbeat, they were supposed to be quite low, way lower than the ones of the human.

"Are you one of those vigilante Vampires? Justifying your killing by only killing evil ones?" Nathaniel couldn't help but scoff.

"Something like that." The man in front of him shrugged. While the young man didn't seem afraid of Nathaniel, he was definitely wary of him.

"Well, you have drawn quite an attention to yourself." Nathaniel smirked. "It's starting to become a problem for all of us."

"Us?" The young man tilted his head.

"For vampires like us." Nathaniel scoffed.

"So you are here to kill me"? The young man in front of him asked.

"On the contrary… I am here to give you a chance." Nathaniel declared. "But first, I wanna know something. Who turned you into a Vampire?" he asked.

"I dunno." The man in front of him shrugged.

"You are a rogue"? Nathaniel was amused. "You are very well trained for a rogue Vampire."

"Yeah… I have had some training." The man in front of him shrugged.

"And which vampire trained you"? Nathaniel asked. "Because clearly they failed to do their job properly."

"In their defence, they were not vampires." the young man clarified. "What is it that you want from me? Just tell me and I will be on my way. I have a curfew… of sorts."

"What are you"? Nathaniel wondered out loud. "Are you a daywalker or nightwalker"? He asked.

"I am perfectly fine in the daylight if that's what you're asking." The young man shrugged. "What about you"? Nathaniel was surprised to be asked. "It's only fair you tell me about yourself if you wanna know about me."

"Oh my bad, I should have introduced myself. I am Nathaniel Sinclair, one of the henchmen of the vampire king."

"There is a vampire king"? The young man in front of him snorted.

"Clearly you know nothing about vampires." Nathaniel shook his head. "Yes, there is a vampire king. We maintain our own secret alliances in order to maintain harmony and peace and in order to avoid detection."

"And the king sent you to find me because I have been drawing attention." the young man stated.

"Precisely." Nathaniel sighed. "I was actually sent here to kill you because the king believed you to be a rebel, but I suppose you are just a newbie." he snorted. "I am still not convinced. Tell me why I should trust that you are unfamiliar with our ways when I can see how well you are at draining people."

"Well, I know about vampires from the lores." The young man shrugged. "And also, while I am very much like a vampire, I am not technically a vampire…" he shrugged.

"So what are you? A dracula?" Nathaniel snickered.

"Aren't they the same?" the young man wondered.

"That's ridiculous"! Nathaniel barked. He took a deep breath, trying his best to supress how offended he was and proceed. "If you are not a vampire, what are you?"

"I am a hybrid." The young man smirked. "And I have heard that the vampires aren't very fond of hybrids, so you might wanna kill me knowing that."

Nathaniel gulped. While he was aware of how any vampire hybrids were treated, doesn't mean he agreed with them. He had a friend who was a hybrid, whom he managed to train to hide his other half in front of the vampires.

"What kind of hybrid"? Nathaniel asked very carefully, turning his head.

"Does it matter"? The young man snapped.

"Yes," Nathaniel sighed. "Because if you wanna survive within the vampire community, you need to learn how to blend into them," he added.

"Are you serious? You don't even know me." The young man snapped.

"No, I don't." Nathaniel turned his head. "But you do remind me of someone, someone who was like a brother to me. Someone I failed." he sighed.

"That's…creepy." the young man tilted. "Anyways, I am a vampire werewolf hybrid." he shrugged.

"That is impossible." Nathaniel snapped immediately. "Vampire venom doesn't have the ability to turn a werewolf."

"No, it doesn't." The young man nodded. "But you see, my parents were one of each kind." He smirked. "That's right, I was born this way. I have been a vampire werewolf hybrid for my entire life." he shrugged.

"I see.." Nathaniel nodded. "Well, if I am gonna help you at all it's gonna be a lot of work."

"You don't have to." The young man shook his head. "Just tell me what I need to do and I'll try to follow the rules of this vampire king you speak of." he shrugged.

"For starters, don't kill everyone this rashly. Stop drawing attention." Nathaniel snapped. He was about to leave but halted. "Also, there is this hunter nearby whom you might wanna avoid. Since you are not technically a vampire, you might manage to stay off his radar."

"Noted." The young man nodded warily.

Nathaniel paused for a moment before he asked, "By the way, what's your name"? He asked.

"It's Connor," he nodded. "I am not giving you my last name," he added.

"Alright then." Nathaniel nodded. "Connor, take care," he smirked and left, leaving Connor stranded all by himself in confusion.
