Presley's birthday party

Chapter One

******

Hi I am Sera, I am British, I live in Los Angeles. I am married to Brax. Brax is 52, he is a firefighter. My husband has a son (Allan) with his ex-wife, Arielle; Allan is 12 years old. Arielle is 48, she is remarried. Brax and Arielle co-parent Allan, Arielle has custody of Allan but Allan comes visiting on holidays and sometimes on some weekends, he comes around, sometimes my husband goes to pick him up on Thursday and takes him back on Sunday because Arielle and her new family also lives in Los Angeles. I have two daughters, Grace and Presley. Grace is five and Presley is three. Presley is adorable, fun, witty, kind, accommodating. Grace is also fun, witty, kind, although she is too much of a bookworm. Unlike little Presley, who loves having people around. Presley and Allan are close. They love each other's company. Presley loves to have Allan around especially when we are taking them out to the park, to the movies, or we are just having a family outing. Presley would feel sad if Allan is grounded for breaking the house rules, she just loves her brother so much and they are both protective of each other. I think this is because Allan does not like to shun Presley off, Allan gives her a lot of attention, and plays all kinds of games with her. Unlike Grace, who is a bookworm, always having one thing to research on. So I'll say, Presley is sociable, she loves people.

Presley's fourth birthday is approaching and of course she wants her almighty Allan to be at her party even though Allan falls sick three days to her birthday, she insists on waiting for him to get back on his feet so that he can be able to attend her party. No one wants a moody celebrant so moving her birthday party forward by one week is the best and closest option to consider. We either move it forward or no party at all. Allan gets better in less than a week and Presley is ready for her birthday party.

Presley's birthday party ****** It's the morning of Presley's birthday party and we are all ready for the Fun and most adorable girl's birthday party. Presley's friends from school are invited as well as Grace's. Grace, my not so fun little girl, is also so excited about her sister's birthday party. My husband goes to work to return early for the birthday party. I have a few of my friends come over with their kids, they all come bearing gifts for the birthday girl. The birthday party begins at 3pm with lots and lots of fun games for the kids, gift items, music, dancing, and so on. It's 5pm and I am exhausted. The kids are still having a whole lot of fun so I dare not get tired, not now. More kids are just coming in with their gifts for my little girl Presley. I have to be active, I can't be tired, I have to take care of these kids. I don't want any kid injured, I want all these kids to have fun at Presley's birthday. Presley is a No dull moment girl, I bet you… I can't be exhausted now, my husband is greatly helpful, oh God bless this man for me. He makes sure to stay with the kids as we have the same aim which is to make sure that the birthday party of the most fun girl in the world goes well. Kids are having fun, I can tell from where I'm standing that Allan is having the most fun as he's making new friends and also making sure that the birthday girl keeps smiling. Now how do I know this? In the middle of the so many games Allan never stops looking around for Presley, he never wants Presley out of sight, once she goes out of sight, his eyes begins to screen through the whole place and once he sights her and she's maybe not having a big smile on her face as she always does, he makes sure to find his way to her, asks her what she wants and makes sure she smiles again then he goes back to playing. I personally love that they get along so well and I love the part that he loves to know how his sisters are fairing, Presley especially, since she's his favorite. The kids already have lots of food and drinks but what's a kids party without Pizza? I have to go bring the pizza from inside. Where did I keep the pizza? I was so sure it's on the kitchen counter, did someone take it away? I don't want to miss the party, I want to make sure to capture as many moments as I can. Oh I need to take a breath! Okay Sera breath! With my eyes shut I breathed and then I began to calculate where I might have kept the Pizza, oh I have not checked the fridge, I walked to the fridge and viola, it's sitting inside the fridge. I carry the pizza and head outside to where the kids are. I call the kids' attention, Okay guys, who wants pizza?! Kids- me, me, me, me! They all come for pizza. I can't find Presley, I begin to shout Presley, where are you? By now Grace is also aware that she's missing and she can't find her. I tell Grace, go check the house, I'm also quietly checking everywhere as I don't want to cause a dull moment for the kids, Presley won't like that. I can't find Allan. Now I begin to search for both Allan and Presley. Allan, where are you? Presley! I walk to my husband to tell him that Presley and Allan are nowhere to be found, he joins me in the search. He said, you go check the rooms and the bathrooms, I'll look around, they are probably somewhere playing, you know how they can be. I've looked everywhere in the house, the kids are not there.

Now I can no longer find Grace, I immediately alert my husband. I can't find Grace, she was here just now. Three kids, where are they? Now I am worried… The kids outside are beginning to find out that something is wrong, it's becoming quiet. My friends join in the search, everyone looking everywhere their eyes find to look. My friend can't find her daughter, Georgia. They all were just there, I saw them before I went inside to get the pizza, my eyes are everywhere. Where are you all? I walk to my husband, I think we need to call 911. He says okay… I'm calling 911, I dial the number, report to them what happened and I go back to searching. We've all looked everywhere, I am crying, I can't fight the tears, even my husband has a worried look on his face. There's trouble! Where can these kids be? Can something have happened to them? Now I'm having all sorts of thoughts in my head, Oh Lord, please keep these kids safe. The police have arrived and we are beginning to put calls across to the parents that brought their kids and have other things to take care of, they need to come take their kids. Now we can't find four kids. I'm devastated. All I can do now is pray to God to keep them safe wherever they are. It's getting dark, the parents have come to pick their kids and show care and sympathy for the lost ones, and pray that we find them safe. I've said more Amens in two hours than I've said my whole life. The police are looking everywhere, I can't search again, My eyes are too heavy, where are these kids? I can't stop asking.

It's 10:30pm, the police also already looked everywhere in the house, and by now they've raised an alarm for missing kids. If by tomorrow morning we can't find them, we might have to get their pictures on the posters. Oh no God this is not happening to me! The police are in the neighborhood, searching every nook and cranny, consoling us. I don't know how to console my friend whose daughter is also missing. She's crying and wailing, I can't stop telling God to help me bring them home safely.

It's 5am. My friend's husband, Fred, is here, my husband is as exhausted as I am, I can tell. Even though he's still very active. It's day break and we need to clear all the birthday party games set up, they need a ladder to climb. The ladder is in the basement, this is the point where I ask myself, did anyone check inside the basement? My husband- I'm not sure, I didn't check. Oh No! I didn't check either! Oh how did we forget the basement? We hardly use our basement, we hardly go there, but I still do not know how I did not remember to check the basement. My husband runs to the basement, I follow and my friend is right behind me.
