"Tch"

Lucian clicked his tongue in annoyance, as he stared blankly out his window.

"I'd wanted to acquire at least one more ability today, but I just had to have been seen in the act."

He brought his hand to his forehead and began rubbing his temple.

"Now I might even have the cops hunting me down… Just great."

Lucian aimed to play off his nightly feasts as accidents of sorts.

He planned on disposing of Barbara's body after thoroughly removing anything that could identify her, but sadly things didn't go as planned.

"Those 4 kitchen staff just had to come at the worst possible time didn't they?"

"It wasn't exactly the worst possible time. If they came while you were in the process of killing Barbara, or even before you got a chance to burn her body, it would have turned out worse." Alecia's mechanical voice responded.

"I guess you're right… But still… Well, I guess the problem for this falls on me for not taking such a glaring variable into account. This whole operation took me less than a minute to plan after all. Next time I'll make a plan thorough enough to deal with these variables."

"5 free stat points? I wonder just how useful they'll be? For example… If I put all of my points into my strength, will I be over 35% stronger?"

Lucian debated using a few points to test it out right now, but then stopped himself.

"I don't know if there is a way to get my stats back if I use them up haphazardly. It's best if I just save my points for when I actually need it."

Lucian didn't want to dig himself a hole by wrongly assigning his stat points.

It was a problem new gamers often faced when starting a level-based RPG-style game.

Putting your points into the wrong stats or skills was often quite punishing.

Sometimes, it was bad enough to the point where players had no other option but to restart their character from scratch.

This sadly wasn't an option Lucian had.

He couldn't just restart his life whenever he felt like it after all.

If he made a mistake, he was forced to live with it for the rest of his life.

Haphazardly rushing into things without any solid plan was a terrible idea.

Look where that got him today?

Lucian turned his attention to the other new piece of information he received.

"Bloodlust? From the skill description, this seems like quite a useful skill. However, this is only for short bouts. In an extended fight, I don't want to burn through all my stored blood. After all, I still don't know what'll happen when my thirst bar fills up. For all I know, I could die right then and there."

Lucian was tempted to try seeing what will happen if maxed out his thirst bar, but he wasn't particularly keen on it.

If his thirst bar was full, that would probably mean he had no more stored blood.

Don't vampires need to feed on blood to survive?

If Lucian ran out of blood there was a very real possibility he might die.

Risking his life just to satiate his curiosity was something Lucian would much rather avoid doing.

After reaching his home, Lucian immediately crashed onto his couch.

He was exhausted, to say the least.

Not much physically, but mentally.

He took off his costume, and handed it off to Alicia to wash and store in a special briefcase he'd created.

Lucian decided the briefcase to be as secure as physically possible, to prevent the wrong people from easily opening it.

Having him connected to his nightly serial killings, was something he wanted to avoid at all costs.

While he only targeted registered criminals, in the eyes of the law, he was no better.

If caught, he would be prosecuted like any old criminal.

While many would support his actions, if he wasn't on the side of the law, it was better to just keep the knowledge of his actions to himself.

Lucian wasn't the kind who wanted to bask in the glory of being a hero either.

He needed to kill humans for blood and abilities, not because he had some extremely strong sense of justice.

Lucian went up to his room and changed into his pyjamas, before crashing onto his bed.

"I'm slowly getting stronger… Only a little bit more until I can finally get revenge on those bastards for laying their filthy hands on my parent's legacy…"

Sorry for the lack of updates!

I've been busy with studying for my upcoming exam, and since my other book got featured under editor's choice, I spent whatever free time I had to update that instead.

However this doesn't mean I'm dropping VPS.

I'll make sure to update as much as I can, but due to the time constraints put on me, it just might not be as often as before.
