Chapter 50: The Road Ahead

How many months have passed? Four? Six? It hasn’t been a year yet, but every day feels jam packed with everything and then some. I walk through the front doors of the precinct to see the playfully teasing smiles of my co-workers.
I know that they are smiling because they all know about me and my boyfriend, Nathaniel. They regularly approach me to hear me brag about the one that got away for all of them except for me. Every single one of them is curious as to what I did to catch his attention, but some things are best left a secret.
Most of the time, I get the same kind of questions.
“What did you do last night?”
“Is he really a gentleman? It seems like he could let loose every once in a while.”
“Are you exclusive?”
“Does he have a friend?”
“When is the big day? Do you think he’ll pop the question to you? I mean, you definitely have that chemistry together.”
