Chapter 33: Pick Your Battles

I take a turn too quickly, making the tires on my car squeal. The precinct is just down the road from where I am currently on the street. Based on the media and the two texts I received from the police chief and Claire, I knew exactly what I was being called in for.

A child, a ten-year-old boy, went missing from his bus stop yesterday morning. His parents didn’t know he was missing until after they came home from work. This was sixteen hours ago.

Now, in the afternoon after the abduction, the police force was all hands-on deck trying to get the child back safe and sound. Thankfully, the police department found a package at the bus stop with the boy’s hoodie and a note. Neither Claire nor the Chief told me what the note said and, instead, told me to get to the office as quickly as possible.
