43 Vampire Diaries 40: Love Him Back

"No!" I scream, hoping that he'll come back and wrap me in his arms. But, he's gone. I can't see him anymore even on the ground!

I wanted to jump from my room but abruptly, Emilia enters. "Thalia! What are you doing?!" She runs so fast and hurriedly stop me? "Are you out of your mind?" spoke a woman who seems to be a crony.

She pulls me away from the window with an angry gaze, "Are you hungry?"

Out of the blue, I burst into laughter which drifts my outrage away. "Come on! I'm not hungry and I... I was just looking at the snow!"

"Don't fool me! I know you there's someone inside... with you!" Emilia raised her eyebrows on me. Looking around as if she could find someone who's gone, a few minutes ago.

I slightly tilt my head as she walks towards me. "Illusions are always wrong, and it will remain that way," I reply while fixing my grandiose dress.

As the door closes, Emilia plays with her tongue. She then touches my back without saying a word.

"Have you fall in love with someone who's not sure about you?"

"Yes! Why did you ask suddenly?"

Instead of saying her the truth, I look away and stares the peaceful hallway. Vampires must be in the field, having fun and doing nothing important.

"Emilia!"

From behind, someone called her name. It seems familiar until we both turn our back to him. "Valmer," Emilia exclaimed. Her eyes become round as it glows like a gem.

Valmer looks into my way, abruptly, he steps back as his eyes widened. "Tha... Thalia! Is that you?!"

Emilia giggles while watching his epic expression. She tries to hide it in front of the King's brother but, "Your highness must be angry by now!"

"No! He won't do that, Emilia! He... He chooses the best decision in his life, ever." said Valmer who claps his hands and smiles at me widely.

"However, we need to hurry! Your highness is waiting for his soon–to–be wife," Valmer added.

With a smile on my face, I nod my head. Trying to forget the man who ditches me and disappeared earlier without asking me what I feel.

I want to cry and tell him that I want him beside me! I want to tell him that I feel safe and happy when I'm around his warm arms.

Valmer steps closer and offers his arm, "Shall we?" His eyes twinkle while Emilia murmurs, "Jack will be jealous of seeing the two of you, together!" Chuckling and fooling us around makes no sense at all.

"Don't listen to her! She's a jester and she will never leave me not crying!" Laughter fills the entire hallway as the palace guards watch and listen to us.

However, as we step closer to the breathtaking stairways made up of stones, the sound of the drums and horns sounded off. The palace guard wears a uniform that seems to be precious and rare.

Out of the curiosity, I look behind Emilia and asks her in mind. "Why is it that the palace looks marvellous? Is there something that I need to know?" Asking her voiceless and silently is hard. Instead of answering me, Emilia wink and put his index finger to her lips.

She gently bites it as her cheeks turn scarlet. "You are out of your mind!" I murmur without making any sound. "You have still owed me!" I said with a deep gaze.

By then, the peaceful hallway suddenly surrounded by beautiful torches. It looks like torches from the ancient tribes that were brought to life again.

Aside from the roaring drums and horns, crowds scream when someone announces. "The King's beloved is here!" A man from nowhere exclaimed.

"Hail the King's beloved!"

"Hail the King's beloved!"

Hundreds of vampires hail my arrival. Mother looks so happy beside the man who stayed for so many years. If only I have the right to confess, I'll tell them the truth.

That I am not their daughter who have guardians who will lead the way until the very end.

"Thalia,"

Tears springing into my eyes when I heard her sweet yet weak voice. I know Thea was the root of all the chaos that happened. "Mother!" I am longing for a mother's love as I run towards her. Letting go of Valmer's arm and embrace the woman before me.

Tightly and tender, tears flow into my cheeks. I... I have never felt this feeling since before since the King married one of the palace's maidservant.

"You have nothing to be afraid now, Thalia. Jack promises me that he will protect us from your sister! He will grant it, my beloved daughter."

Her smile makes me cry but I don't want to ruin this night. The King must have prepared something and I need to stand the decision that I've chosen.

She gulps as she squeezes my hand gently. I know what's happening but I am nervous and afraid that there's someone that I need to give up. "Do not cry, Thalia. Your Highness is waiting for you and he will be disappointed upon seeing you that way."

Tears shrouds by tender laughter. Mother kisses me and takes my arm as she walks closer to the King who silently watches over us.

The crowd are quiet, waiting and interested in what's next. Unfamiliar faces, unfamiliar feelings embraces me.

"Mother, can you tell me what's happening by now?"

"You will be my dearest daughter, Thalia. But, I want you to be happy. I want you to marry the man you love," She halts for a moment. Mother tilts her head sideways to divert her attention. I know that I will never be happy with Jack, with the Vampire King.

But for the sake of Thalia's mother and father, I am willing to take the risk. To be the King's wife, and to be the palace's Queen.

We both stop right before the Vampire King who seated on the throne. Wearing the glorious and sacred crown as it put on his head.

She reaches for my trembling hands, "Forgive us Thalia but this is the only and best decision to make. I know you don't like him but you will learn how to love Your Highness."

"I... I accept my destiny, Mother. I am a Vampire who has no choice, a vampire who was born to be the King's wife."

"Take my sincere apology, Thalia. However, if you find the man who's willing to love you eternity, I am here to support you. I'll be your supporter, Thalia. Do you understand?"

Her sweet voice cracks when she says it. The wind blows up that makes the night colder and memorable.

Jack stands as he offers his hand to me. He's smiling widely and I can tell that he is grateful for succeeding.

But before I turn my back, I look intently into her eyes. "I will try to love him back, Mother. I will never disappoint you and the entire palace!"

Tears were about to fall from her sullen eyes but I hurriedly wipe it with my bare hands. I don't want to see her crying because of me.

"I am beyond grateful to have you in my life."

I murmur as I take the Vampire King's warm hand.
