Prologue pt. 2

A few years ago, from the present, Somewhere in the middle of Asia

At the heart of the city, a luxurious Mansion was decorated with bright lights and various kinds of flowers. The wedding planners did their job professionally and created an atmosphere that seemed like a fairytale.

Sitting in front of the dressing table, a young girl around twenty-three waiting for her brother's arrival to walk her down the aisle. Wearing a beautiful white bridal gown she was looking identical to the angels.

She wished she could see herself in the mirror, even just for once. The fact saddened her but still, she was delighted as she was going to marry the man of her dreams in a few minutes.

However, her excitement came to a halt when a maid entered the rand informed her about the bad news and handed her a phone for confirmation.

" Hello....is this Ms. Erika Carter?...umm

The daughter of Mr Michael Carter!?," the voice coming out of the device inquired her. She was dumbfounded by the situation but still held herself together for further acknowledgement.

"Yes!!," she softly confirmed her identity to the person over the phone. She could sense something ominous was going to happen.

" Hello ma'am, I'm the head nurse of the St Francis Hospital. I'm sorry ma'am to inform you that near seven in the morning, an accident was reported in the Hospital, and two people were found heavily injured..."

" One of them is dead on the spot and the other one is in critical condition and admitted to the I.C.U. Please come to the hospital as soon as possible since you are the only family and formalities required to be attended...." the nurse added further and waited for a response but the other party was numb by the news. Her hands were trembling and she could not process what was going on with her.

" Hello! Hello!! ma'am..ma'am," the nurse once again tried to catch Erika's attention when she didn't get a reply for a few minutes.

" I'll be there.....shortly," Erika finally found her voice and made a reply meekly. Then she handed back the device to her maid. Her hands and forehead were sweating with apprehension.

" Call the driver and take me to the St. Francis Hospital," She ordered her maid firmly and she left the area in an instant. Erika dabbed with her fingertips and tried to find her things.

She finally grabbed her black eye shades on her red and white folded stick from the first drawer of the dressing table. She was preparing herself to leave the mansion.

"Ma'am, the car is ready," A few moments later, the maid informed her and Erika lifted herself from her seat. After descending from the second floor, she hopped in her luxurious black car with the help of her maid and travelled in the direction of the Hospital with the speed of light. Every passing minute seemed to be hours for her.

Eventually, they arrived at the hospital and the first thing she wanted to learn about was the situation of her loved ones.

" Ms. Erika Carter!?," a heavy male voice called her name while she was waiting in the V.I.P lounge. Her maid was assisting her with everything all the time, but the heavy voice of the man startled her a little.

" Y...Yes, it's me..," she desperately responded to receive all the information. She had been waiting patiently for the last few hours for all her answers.

The man observed her wedding gown, black shades, and a stick in her hand and it gave him all the information about her.

He felt pity for the beautiful girl standing in front of him. She lost the power of her vision and now she was about to fetch the worst news on her wedding day.

" Ms. Carter I'm sorry but your fiance 'Mr. Dylan Harris' is no more in this world. He was already dead when they arrived at the Hospital and your brother 'Mr. Allen Carter is still fighting for his life in I.C.U...."

"The survival chances of your brother are thin. We do our best to save him...." Upon receiving the dreadful news about her loved one, she felt as if she had been hit by a truck, her legs wobbled and she strumbled on her feet. Luckily, the doctor standing beside her caught her on time and helped her to sit on the nearby couch.

" Be careful!" he implied as he offered her a glass of water which was placed on the side table. She accepted it with trembling hands and returned it after sipping a little. He was sympathetic toward the girl, however as a responsible asset of the hospital, he was bound to provide all the information.

" But there is something I want to discuss with you about your fiance's will. He made a clause in his testamentary and donated his cornea to you..."

" We need to perform the surgery immediately and for this, we need your permission and signature on some documents as well...."

" I know it may sound insensitive to you but we need to think about the last wish of the dead person Ms. Carter since fortunately the eyes of your donor are completely fine...." he explained as he paused again for a few minutes and let the girl collect her emotions and process the information.

" I'm sorry for your loss Ms. Carter but please give it a thought and I'll send a nurse to you with documents.

You can call your lawyer so we can go through the legal procedure. Thank you," After delivering her all the statements, the doctor finally left for his other duties and let her fight with her thoughts.

The Darkness of her eyes never bothered her just because of her fiance and brother. Both men were ready to do anything for her happiness.

But now without them, she found herself lost and alone in the entire world.

To convey respect for the last words of the love of her life she decorated the papers of surgery with her signature. In a few hours, doctors performed the surgery and after a leap of some days, she successfully gained her vision.

But this happiness came at a cost, her brother couldn't make it and took his last breath on the hospital bed. The first thing she did was attend the funeral of her loved one after gaining her vision and this was the last thing she ever imagined.

After a month, she finally started recovering and taking responsibility for the company which her brother left in her care. As the days passed, she felt as if everything slipped out of her hands.

The shares of her brother's company were at the bottom level and the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. But she found something suspicious about the situation.

She decided to investigate the whole event and the discovery of the truth left her speechless. In her investigation, she collected all the pieces of evidence related to her brother and fiance's accident too.

Nonetheless, the more she dug the first got more deeper.

Finally, she discovered it was not an accident but a cold-blooded murder and the culprit was quite close and unexpected to her. She determined to put the culprit behind bars but before she could take any action, she found herself in a dark maze.

But little did she know this maze had only one way out and she took the path that fate chose for her.
