Chapter 6: Shopping Mall (Part 1)

Almost an hour later, Haoran stood up from the seat with a new look. Although he suddenly didn't get handsome but he did seem refreshing, much more pleasant to eyes than before.

Xianxian looked at him with some surprise. Previously she didn't looked at his face with concentration but now that she really looked at him, she found that his face was clean, without any dark spot or pimples. She was a bit of clean freak, so his cleanliness satisfied her.

"How do I look?" He asked with a smile.

"Acceptable." Xianxian said without holding back, making Haoran twitch his mouth. She really knows how to make others feel bad.

"Haoran, if you to maintain that look, remember to come here every three weeks." Wang Xin said at this time. "For you, I'll give 50% discount!"

"Really? Thanks sister Wang Xin. You are so much nice than certain someone." He casted a side glance at Xianxian.

"Who might that certain someone be?" Xianxian glared at him.

Haoran shrugged. "If you were smart, you would understand."

"Oh, really?" Xianxian lips curled lightly, as if he fell directly into her trap. "Sister-in-law, do you remember what I ranked in NCEE?"

Wang Xin was looking at them with interest from the side when she was forced to get involved. She tapped her unblemished chin and said, "It was 8th Rank, wasn't it?"

"Did you hear it?" Xianxian looked back at Haoran proudly.

Haoran wasn't perturbed. He also looked at Wang Xin and said, "Sister Wang Xin, do you want to know what rank I got in NCEE?"

"Oh, I am also curious." Wang Xin said with interested face.

Haoran looked at her and then glanced back at Xianxian who had a bad feeling. "I got 2nd rank."

"You are kidding." Xianxian didn't believe it.

"Believe it or not, what's true is true." He shrugged without care.

Hearing this, Xianxian snorted and stayed silent but she did believed him. She didn't think that he had guts to lie to her.

'Okay, other than being big, he is also academically good. Bah! Xianxian, quite thinking about that already!' Xianxian face suddenly flushed lightly, making Haoran completely puzzled.

She stopped conversing with him to cover the fact that she was blushing and had guilty conscience.

Xianxian talked a bit more with Wang Xin, and they left the saloon soon after.

"What is it?" Feeling Haoran gaze on her side face, Xianxian asked without looking at him.

"Baby, are you from a rich family?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Your sister-in-law can open a shop in such a big place, surely you aren't lacking money."

"Well, my family is rich but not really very rich. As for sister-in-law's shop, it was something she ran even before she got married to my brother." At this time, a hint of sadness appeared on her face.

"What's the matter?" Haoran stopped in his tracks, forcing Xianxian to stop too.

"What do you mean?" Xianxian averted her eyes and looked at the store nearby, appearing calm and collected.

Haoran looked at her deeply, shook his head and smiled, and said, "Nothing, maybe it was my hallucination but you just looked sad."

Saying so, he walked ahead without looking at Xianxian who was stunned. He didn't know how turbulent the waves this sentence caused inside Xianxian's heart.

'We have only known each other for a day but he could tell whether I am sad or not… does he really like me that much…?' She looked at Haoran's back with complicated eyes. It was the first time she felt that someone understood her. And it was her cheap boyfriend.

Her Favourability for Haoran instantly soared, reaching all the way to 30!

Haoran didn't knew that. He was looking at his phone with a huge shit eating grin, seeing money roll in tens of thousands!

Before he knew it, his bank balance has already reached over 300,000RMB! He had never seen so much money in both of his life!

"Babe, do you have any plans right now?" He asked.

"No." Xianxian looked at him faintly and seeing those passionate eyes, she got vigilant and said, "don't even think about it!"

"Huh? What do you mean?" Haoran looked at her, puzzled.

"Do you think you could fool me that easily. I am telling that what happened this morning was a one time thing."

Haoran understood that she misunderstood. "I wasn't even thinking about it."

"Yeah, I believe you." Xianxian face said 'who are you fooling?'

"Really! Xianxian, you are breaking your character. Aren't you supposed to be cold and unmoving, why are your replies so… I don't know, however it is?"

"You want me to be cold and unmoving? I can also do that. Don't come crying if I start ignoring you from now on."

"Please stay as you are right now."

"Are you sure?"

"Sure!"

"Alright, like I said I am not going back to hotel if that is what you are thinking."

"Why? Are your parents strict?" He asked.

"No, I live with my sister-in-law. My parents live in Shanghai. And you really did had that thought." Xianxian gritted her teeth and looked at him angrily.

"No, no. Believe me, I just want to buy some things. So I was asking you to accompany me." Haoran sighed.

"What do you want to buy?" Xianxian asked.

"Gadgets."

Following a five minute walk around, they finally found an Apple Store.

Xianxian looked at the store and frowned slightly. She remember seeing his phone this afternoon, which at most was worth thousand RMB. Can he afford an iPhone?

She was skeptical. But then she remembered him asking if her family is rich…

Is he going to ask her to buy him? Her lips pursed lightly in disappointment. But she decided not to directly came at the conclusion.

If he did asked her for money, she will give it to him but as a result, she would end their relationship right here and now. No question asked.

With those thoughts, she followed Haoran inside the store. If he knew her thoughts, he would definitely say, 'oh, women!'

As he entered inside, Haoran directly went to the mobile section and started checking out the counter display units. A staff came towards him and asked, "Sir, are you looking for anything particular?"

The staff didn't held much hope in selling anything after seeing his cheap clothes but seeing the beautiful girl beside him, his attitude was at its best. This was something normal. When you meet a beautiful girl, you subconsciously change without even knowing it.

Like how guys who maybe the most funny and talkative within boy groups would become silent and awkward when faced with a beautiful girl.

The easiest solution to that is to think of the beautiful girl as potatoes. Can you get nervous while talking with potatoes?

No.

"Uh… which iPhone is latest these days?" Haoran asked.

"The latest iPhone these days is iPhone X. It comes in three variants: iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max."

"Which one is the best?"

"The best one is iPhone XS Max. It is this one." The staff pointed at the particular phone on the counter.

Haoran picked it up, slide it perfunctorily and put it back.

"We will have two of them. One in black and one in red. Max out their specs."

The staff was stunned. He said, "Sir, the maxed out version of iPhone XS Max cost about 9000RMB…"

"Hmm, two of them. Black and Red." Haoran nodded with a smiled.

Seeing that he was serious, the staff instantly went to work. No way, he knows when to he skeptical and when to work. From the looks of it, this customer was indeed going to buy the phones!

After the staff went away, Xianxian whispered in Haoran's ears angrily. "Haoran, why are you getting two of them! I could afford one but two…"

"Huh? What are you on about?" Haoran looked at her strangely.

Seeing his puzzled face, Xianxian felt that she was misunderstanding something. Would he not ask her for money?

As she was about to say something, the staff waved his hand from the reception area.

"We will talk later." Haoran said and walked towards the staff enthusiastically.

"Sir, these are your two iPhone XS Max. One in black and one in red. The total cost including tax is 18,755RMB."

"Sure." Haoran took his debit card and handed it to him.

Seeing that the transaction when though successfully, Xianxian's face flushed immediately. She understood that she was thinking too much. At the same time, she was strangely relived. She didn't wanted him to disappoint her because she felt like even if they break up after a month, they could still be good friends.

No suspense afterwards, Haoran bought both phone and exited the store under the staff repeated words of gratitude.
