5 Unconventional Savior

The high-ranking hero Selena and the witch Morgana stood at opposite ends of the deserted street, the tension between them palpable. Morgana's eyes glinted with a manic energy as she twirled her staff, summoning a swarm of bats that circled her like a dark halo.

"Finally, we meet again," Morgana said, her voice dripping with malice. "I've been looking forward to this moment for a long time, Selena."

Selena remained stoic, her sword at the ready. "The only thing you'll be looking forward to is justice being served," she replied. "I won't let you hurt innocent people any longer, you pathetic witch."

The two charged at each other, Selena's sword singing through the air as Morgana hurled bolts of dark magic. Selena deftly dodged the attacks, slicing through the air with her blade and cutting through Morgana's spells.

Clink—

"You're more skilled than I thought," Morgana hissed, as she sent a flurry of shadowy tendrils snaking toward Selena.

Selena didn't flinch. Instead, she raised her sword and chanted a spell, calling forth a brilliant beam of light that cut through the darkness like a laser. The beam struck Morgana, sending her flying back with a scream.

"You underestimate me, Morgana," Selena said, a fierce determination in her voice. "My light magic may not be as destructive as your dark magic, but it's strong enough to vanquish evil."

Morgana snarled and unleashed a powerful spell, summoning a giant serpent made of shadows. The serpent lunged at Selena, but she dodged to the side, slicing it in two with her sword.

Slice—

Selena charged at Morgana, her sword glowing with a brilliant light. She swung with all her might, striking Morgana's staff and shattering it into pieces.

Shatter—

Morgana stumbled back, but she was not defeated yet. She closed her eyes and chanted a spell, summoning a giant shadowy hand that grabbed Selena and lifted her into the air.

"Just die you pest!" Morgana said, a wicked grin on her face. "You'll never defeat me!"

But Selena was not one to give up. She gritted her teeth, summoned all her strength, and channeled it into her sword. With a mighty swing, she unleashed a powerful energy wave that destroyed the shadowy hand and sent Morgana flying across the street.

Thud!—

"Arhgg"

Morgana struggled to get up, but Selena was already upon her. She raised her sword and prepared to strike the final blow.

"I won't let you harm anyone ever again, Morgana," Selena said, her voice steady and resolute. "Your reign of terror ends here and now."

And with that, Selena struck the final blow, her sword meeting Morgana's head, decapitating it and sending it rolling on the ground.

Slash—

This was the end of Morgana's reign of terror once and for all. The sky brightened as the dark clouds dissipated, and the people of the city cheered as Selena emerged victorious.

"That's what it means to be a hero," Selena said, a smile on her face. "To protect the innocent and vanquish evil."

And with that, she sheathed her sword.

"Oi, woman!"

However, Selena suddenly heard someone's voice from her left which made her smile fade. As she turned toward it, she was met with an average-looking black-haired boy holding ice creams.

She was confused seeing him and wondered why he called her.

"If you are done playing hero, watch out for that head. It will go boom, and you will go swoosh and die!" The boy said as he pointed at Morgana's decapitated head with his ice cream, and he began eating the ice cream that was in his other hand.

Selena's face contorted seeing the youngster's demeanor, but before she could retort, Morgana's head began to glow, and in the next second, it really blasted with a loud boom.

"What the...?"

!?

BOOM!—

"Well, I warned her," Caius said as he shrugged and turned around to leave the area, now surrounded by smoke due to the explosion.

Caius was very well aware of this skill, 'body explosion.'

It was similar to when he defeated the cultist while playing the game. After killing the cultist, the head of the body would explode, but it had limitations. The explosion could only affect the person that killed the cultist to avoid friendly fire against their own cultists.

"C'mon, I thought she bit the dust when someone snuck up on her. But nah, turns out she was too busy flexing after taking out the witch that she let her guard down. What a lame way to get a game over!" Caius grumbled, shaking his head. He made his way over to the street where his butler was waiting.

Cough— Cough—

As the smoke began to clear, Selena slowly emerged from it, coughing. Her pale face was now darkened by the soot of the explosion and her once-neat hair was now tousled and disheveled.

Beep!—

Her ears were still ringing from the blast as she struggled to stand up.

"What... the hell just happened?" She muttered in confusion before she began to remember the warning of that average-looking guy.

"...."

She looked around and saw that the area was now deserted. She frowned and tried to brush off the dirt from her clothes.

"That little punk," she muttered to herself, still feeling annoyed at Caius for his rude behavior. But she couldn't deny that she was grateful for his warning. If it wasn't for him, she could have lost her life in the explosion. She shook her head, still in disbelief at what had just happened.

"Thank you, average-looking guy," she whispered to herself, acknowledging Caius' act of kindness. And she made a mental note to be more careful in the future and not let her guard down.

As she walked away from the scene, Selena couldn't help but feel a strange sense of curiosity toward this average-looking guy.

"Who was he really, and why did he seem to know about the explosion?" she wondered.

***

My butler was hovering around me, checking me for injuries.

"Y-Young master, are you alright? are you hurt anywhere?" he asked anxiously.

I couldn't help but feel annoyed at his fussiness.

"I'm fine, Albert," I said, brushing off the dust from my shirt. "Stop being so dramatic."

He let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness. I was so worried about you," he said, smoothing down his suit.

I smirked. "Did you buy the clothes I asked for?"

He nodded. "Yes, they will be transported to the Estate. But young master, are you sure you want to wear something from that cheap shop instead of your usual designer brands?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

I waved him off again. "Don't worry about it. Just prepare for our trip back to the Estate."

And of course, I had a specific reason for buying clothes from that shop.
