35 Commencement of Magical Studies

After the wand selection ceremony concluded, the students returned to their respective classes, their minds still abuzz with excitement and curiosity. Professor Scarlett, renowned for her extensive knowledge of magical history and lore, gathered her students in a spacious classroom adorned with ancient scrolls and mystical artifacts.

As the students settled into their seats, their anticipation palpable, Professor Scarlett stood at the front of the room, ready to share her wisdom. With a calm and authoritative voice, she began to weave the captivating tale of the origins of magic.

"Throughout the ages, myths and legends have spoken of the source of magic," Professor Scarlett began, her eyes shining with enthusiasm. "Legends tell us that magic was not always present in our world. It is said to have emerged from the depths of the primordial realms, intertwined with the very fabric of existence."

She paced the room, her gestures mirroring the ancient tale she wove. "According to the ancient texts, magic was a gift bestowed upon mortals by mystical beings known as the Arcanum Guardians. These Guardians, imbued with immense power and wisdom, sought to empower mortals and bridge the realms of the mundane and the extraordinary."

The students leaned in, captivated by the professor's words. The classroom was filled with a sense of wonder and curiosity as the mysteries of magic unraveled before their eyes.

"Furthermore," Professor Scarlett continued, "it is said that the Arcanum Guardians entrusted the knowledge and secrets of magic to selected individuals of different races, those with the potential to harness its immense power. These individuals became known as the First Magnus, the pioneers who paved the way for the magical arts we practice today."

She paused, allowing the weight of her words to sink in. "As the generations passed, the legacy of the First Mages endured. Their teachings were passed down through ancient tomes and sacred rituals, ensuring the continuity of magic throughout the ages."

The students exchanged excited glances, their minds filled with a newfound appreciation for the rich tapestry of magical history. Professor Scarlett's passion for her subject was contagious, igniting a thirst for knowledge within each student.

"As we embark on our magical journey together, it is vital to understand the origins of our craft," Professor Scarlett concluded. "By studying the myths and legends surrounding magic, we gain a deeper understanding of its significance and the responsibility we bear as wielders of such extraordinary power."

The room hummed with animated discussions as the students eagerly absorbed the enchanting narrative.

"I can't even fathom a world without magic," one student exclaimed.

The sentiment resonated with others in the room, as they contemplated a world devoid of the mystical arts.

"I know, right? How did people even function without magic? How did they solve problems or accomplish extraordinary feats?" another student chimed in.

Ember lost in thought, mused aloud, "...I wonder what life was like before the existence of magic. Were people treated equally without the influence of magical abilities? How different would society be?"

Aria, sitting beside her, nodded in agreement, her curiosity piqued. "Imagine a world where peace prevailed without the complications of magic. It sounds idyllic."

Meanwhile, Caius reclined in his seat, seemingly unperturbed by the lively conversation swirling around the classroom.

"A peaceful world without magic, you say?" Caius mused to himself, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.

Having experienced a world devoid of magic, he knew all too well that peace was an elusive concept. In a world without magic, people still found ways to discriminate and harm one another based on differences in wealth, race, and religion.

He understood the harsh realities of a world governed by greed, prejudice, and differing beliefs.

"In truth, there is no such thing as a truly peaceful world," he whispered, shaking his head with a hint of cynicism. "People will always find reasons to hate and discriminate, whether it's based on differences in appearance, wealth, or opinions."

!!

Meanwhile, Narine's catlike ears perked up, picking up snippets of Caius's murmurs. 'Why is he talking to himself? And... why the hell did he choose to sit next to me when there are plenty of empty seats in the classroom?' Narine screamed inwardly, her surprise evident.

As Caius unexpectedly took a seat beside her, Narine couldn't help but feel a mix of confusion and curiosity. Soon, other top students like Damien and Cassandra followed suit, settling themselves in the vicinity. It was an unexpected turn of events for Narine, who had grown accustomed to sitting alone due to her limited circle of friends.

The sudden influx of people around her, particularly with Ember and Aria who excelled academically seated behind her, added another layer of surprise. Narine's usual solitary existence had rarely been interrupted in such a manner.

To compound matters, Adeline's gaze remained fixated on Narine and Caius ever since they returned from the wand selection ceremony. The intensity of Adeline's glare only heightened the already tense atmosphere, fueling Narine's unease under the weight of her scrutiny.

"...What did I do to deserve this?" Narine muttered under her breath, casting a sidelong glance at Caius, who responded with a mischievous smile.

"....."

Meanwhile, Adeline's thoughts churned with a blend of disbelief and skepticism. 'I refuse to believe that he was able to claim ownership of the Celestia's Star,' she mused inwardly, her expression twisted with curiosity and suspicion. Her unwavering gaze remained fixed on Caius, determined to uncover the truth behind his extraordinary feat.

Triiing—

Just then, the sound of the bell echoed through the classroom, signaling the end of the session.

"Alright, class. That concludes our lesson for today. Now, it's time for you to explore the other classrooms and select the lectures you wish to take for this semester," Scarlett announced, her voice carrying a sense of enthusiasm and encouragement.

As Scarlett gathered her belongings, she added, "Remember, we have the mandatory lectures of Elemental Studies, which will be taught by me for the elite class students. Additionally, there are a variety of elective lectures available for you to choose based on your individual skills and goals."

She paused for a moment, her warm smile reaching her eyes. "If you need any assistance or have any doubts regarding lecture selection, please don't hesitate to visit me in my office. I'm here to help!"

With that, Scarlett made her way toward the exit, leaving the students to ponder their choices for the upcoming semester.

"Hey, Caius! You were amazing during the wand selection ceremony. How on earth did you manage to transform your wand into a sword? I never even knew such a thing was possible," Damien exclaimed eagerly, unable to contain his curiosity. "You've set the bar high, my rival. But mark my words, I'll catch up to you soon!"

Caius, visibly irritated, shot Damien a withering look. "You're annoying. Just shut up," he retorted, his annoyance evident as he stood up from his seat.

Undeterred, Damien maintained his cheerful demeanor. "Don't be like that, Caius. We're rivals now, remember? Once I regain my confidence, I'll come back to challenge you again. And this time, I will emerge victorious!" he declared, his smile unwavering.

"...."

'Argh, this annoying bastard!' Frustrated by Damien's persistence, Caius made his way out of the classroom, with Damien trailing behind him.

Meanwhile, Ember's gaze remained fixed on Caius as he left, mirroring Adeline's intense scrutiny. Aria, noticing Ember's distraction, sought to redirect her attention.

"Ember, do you have any lectures in mind that you're interested in taking?" Aria inquired, offering a warm smile.

!!

Ember took a moment to collect her thoughts before responding, "...No, I haven't made any decisions yet," she replied, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
