Plot twist for the Unwavering Hope series

*ON NOVEMBER 22nd (when Olivia was expelled from CGHS)*

*Narrated in Olivia's POV*

On a stormy day with freezing rain on 22nd November, I had received the most heartbreaking and devastating news..... I was expelled from CGHS for attacking against another student who also happened to be my best friend Sarah Sanchez, and for destroying school property, which was my locker. All this happened at the principal's office. I was there. The principal was there. Sarah was there. And so were Mavis and Pauline as witnesses. They knew that I had been expelled. What they don't know is what transpired immediately after that. I silently left the office with my head hanging in shame and tears coming out of my eyes, with a burning sensation on my cheeks as they fell. That's the last of what they saw of me before they crashed into my graduation in Charlottetown Rural High School.

As I walked out of the premises after collecting my stuff from the locker with a missing door, I fell down on my knees which were fumbling. I felt weak. I felt like I wasn't worth anything. I couldn't even control my anger. What good is being an IB student, if I lack this basic life skill? With these thoughts roaming around in my mind, and the rain gushing down, wetting my hair, I realized that the rain wasn't falling on me anymore. Did it suddenly stop raining? No. In fact, someone was standing with an umbrella above me. As I looked up, I saw the dark stormy sky covered with a piece of black fabric hovering my view. I whirled around to see a face. Yes, it was a guy. Someone who I knew for quite some time now. Someone who was in all of my classes, but never talked to him before. I only knew his name. Where was he from? How long was he standing there? I didn't know the answer to any of those questions.

"I'm sorry for what happened." The guy said.

"W-w-wait what?! Y-you saw that?" I asked angrily.

"Well, I witnessed the entire thing. And I too was called into the principal's office to speak about what I saw, in case you didn't notice like you always do." The guy commented.

"I'm sorry. I-I just---" I started to say but the guy interrupted me.

"It's fine, really. But it seems like you could use someone to talk to right now. Want me to walk you home?" The guy asked me.

"Uhh.. yeah. Thanks." I answered.

As we were walking towards my house, he revealed that he too was getting transferred to Charlottetown Rural High School since he was moving to a different area within the city. I was somewhat happy. I now have someone who I can be friends with and talk to at my new school. As he dropped me by my residence I thanked him for the umbrella and promised to keep in touch with him at our new school.

*Ten years later (after the wedding)*

And now when I look back at that. All I remember was, I didn't fulfill my promise. I didn't talk to him even after that. Even after he extended his shoulder to me, I didn't keep my promise. After all these years, I then realized that I took advantage of his kindness and didn't notice him even in our new school. As an adult, I now realized that I was so wrapped up in my world with Sarah, Aiden, Mavis, Pauline, Samar, and Vincent as the antagonist, that I didn't even open my eyes to see what else did the outside world have. That guy and I even went into the same college in Oxford and became reputable doctors. Even in that duration, I never spoke with him. I made the same mistake and kept my eyes shut the whole time. And now when I think about that guy, I don't even remember his face and more importantly, I even forgot his name.........................
