Chapter 15: An Appearance From The Past

It has been a week since Olivia spotted her ex-boyfriend Samar in her school parking lot after returning from the hockey match. She didn't see him or hear from him until one day she found a note in her locker. It said,

"I DON'T KNOW WHETHER I GOT THE LOCKER NUMBER RIGHT. BUT IF YOU ARE OLIVIA, MEET ME AT THE SAME PLACE WHERE YOU SPOTTED ME DURING LUNCHTIME! IT'S SOMETHING PERSONAL."

She was shocked to learn that Samar arrived in PEI. Suddenly, all the memories she had with him and all the hilarious moments she spent with him were wandering in her mind. Her eyes filled with tears of relief that God had given her another chance to apologize for what she did.

At lunchtime, Olivia was proceeding to her locker to arrange her books and then take off to meet up with Samar at the parking lot. She noticed that her friends were standing in front of her locker, waiting for her. Olivia didn't want to tell them where she was going. "Forget the books!" she mumbled to herself. Without grabbing too much attention, she managed to arrive at the parking lot on time. She reached there with a figure not standing much far away from her. Olivia's eyes filled up with tears as the character turned. Samar's face didn't change physically, but there was a tremendous sign of grief and anger in his eyes as he stepped towards her.

He said with a weak smile, "So... You showed up." Olivia's voice was stuck with her throat, her tears rolling down her cheeks were the elements that were moving. Samar couldn't control his emotions either. He stepped closer and hugged her tight. He cried, "How could you leave me like that? Do I mean anything to you?" Olivia's voice finally started to come out, "I am sorry! I am extremely sorry! I didn't have the guts to tell you!" After a long moment of staying in that position, Samar pulled back and replied while wiping his tears, "There is no point in crying now. Even though I came here for another reason, I still need to know, Do you still love me?" Olivia smiled and responded, "I never stopped." Both of them gave a weak smile, and there was an awkward silence between them until Olivia asked with curiosity, "Wait a minute, for what other reason did you come here?" Samar said, "I live here now. Since my father lost his job back in Muscat, we migrated here, and he is looking for some job opportunities. But that's not the thing." Olivia said, "Then?" Samar stammers and struggles to find the right words until he blurted out, "Do you remember Yash?" Olivia nodded. "He is also in Canada, Ontario." Olivia's eyes widened with shock and asked, "Why is he here?" Samar replied with grief, "He is in Toronto for his cancer treatment."
