1 Vtuber World

The sound of a disk could be heard spinning faster and faster. Inside the metal casing, a beam of light shines brightly on the small bits written inside.

*whirrrr*

green and red lights flash on and off in sequence, undistinguishable from the rest.

________

"I am a robot", the words flash in front of my eyes. A local online billboard advertisement proclaims how much money he's making and the new job applications to make as much as him.

I'm suddenly awake inside my room, a very small white space that I can call my own. Walking outside, there is no sound. I could wear the headphone attachments to turn them on and make my own noise, but I decide to make my commute in peace.

It's dark, with multiple pathways and connections to travel. I have many things to do today.

Today is a celebration, my user has decided to take me out for a walk. After a visit to the shop for some new clothes, they arrange some zeros and ones exchanging crypto wallets so that the digital tailor can make a new outfit.

Then I hail a cab to my real estate office, the cab driver has a fox symbol next to it keeping track of how much Etherium gas the trip will cost. That number is then sent to the computer and so that other users and machines can check and pay for it.

My users pockets in his wallet is still quite light as he's worried about exchanging his paper cash and gold for gas in the future. The price keeps going up and up, but people keep arguing whether it's a bubble.

"What's a bubble?", I think as the trip continues.

After the balance in my wallet runs out, I have to walk the rest of the way. Each step takes a lot of energy, my vision is quite blurry and it's difficult to walk straight.

Meanwhile the computer running the program is getting overheated trying to run the calculations on its own, water and air flows in trying to take away the heat. However finally the user pays his gas fees and the load is distributed elsewhere to other computers, machines, dedicated graphics cards, and GPUs on the network.

Suddenly, walking feels a lot more comfortable and a lot less difficult. I live in city lot 1644142979. They told me they just created it 2 weeks ago and it's temporary housing and a respawn point for all the new avatars. Already various mobile shops and cars have come to receive the new visitors.

Hardworking and abandoned avatars join the loosely bound coalition alliance, a labor force and using the pool system that are then traded to other users.

Art Galleries and Hawkish artists cooperate to craft new NFTs and tokens for accessories. Other banks and corporations have been buying lands and minting new coins and currencies, the $ands of Time draws upon more network resources.

Walking past a digital bakery handing out free food and cookie badges I suddenly come across an interesting scene.

"It's from a certified vendor", the machine informs the character.

"I cannot leave", the older avatar says. "I've too much here, too many memories and work to let go."

A mound of accessories and junk has piled up in his storage. He's a 5th gen vtuber, his components are old and his facial expressions are few. However his owner has taken great care of him, his clothes are of an older style, his hair is static, his eyes are colorless.

Various bits of data keeps falling off, his avatar degrading, if he continued to wait any longer he will no longer be able to upgrade. His body will be stuck on older devices without a software update.

However upgrading comes with it's own risks, the code needs to be compatible and they'll have to reinstall his drivers. There comes the risk that he'll return to being a default avatar.

"He's happy", a nearby friend of his Jerry waves him goodbye. Long robes adorned with green lines and a straw hat on his neck. There are many other avatars around with colored hair and default hoodie jackets with patterns and art painted by users.

Passing by the scene, the glut of traffic in front suddenly speeds up as I'm uploaded to where I work.
