STRANGE THINGS

Beep beep beep"....the alarm clock rang and just before the fourth beep ... Alex placed her hand over the alarm clock and the annoying sound immediately stopped.

Alex rubbed her sleepy eyes with the back of her hands.

"Why did this stupid clock have to be so loud...it's Saturday!!".....Alex said in a sleepy voice.

"It's Saturday"...Alex said as her eyes widened...

"Oh my God it's Saturday!!"....Alex said as she immediately sat up on the bed and looked at the time.

"Thank goodness!....i still have some time left"...

She then quick dressed her bed, vacuumed her room.....you could picture her doing this in the flash's kinda speed as she was really cleaning up her room faster than usual today.

Alex then immediately jumped into her yoga pants with her mat under her arm as she headed down the stairs.

"Morning darling"...Mrs James said with a cup of coffee in her hands.

"Oh morning mom!"....Alex said as she smiled and waved her mom then she quickly went outside.

Mrs James just looked at her confusingly as she saw Alex getting ready for a yoga session.

"First strange thing this morning"...Mrs James chuckled as she turned her gaze from Alex and headed to her study.

"Breathe in...,breathe out.....,ohh it's already been five minutes,time for some squats".....

Alex did this for another five minutes,and changed every exercise every five minutes....and when she was finally done,she went to the shower as she was all sweaty now.

Mrs James saw her daughter lift a dumbbell of 10 pounds....she couldn't believe even though she knew Alex exercised ....Alex could only do 4 or 5 pounds.

"Hello....we need to talk".....Mrs James said with a serious look as she closed the door behind her.

Meanwhile Alex was in the shower singing and scrubbing.

And some moments she was out...

"Mmmm.... lavender is such a good scent" ... She inhaled as she smiled.

"Hope he likes it".....she smiled as she sat next to her dresser,fixed her face,applied make up and all.

"Hmm hmmm hmmm hmmm...."Alex hummed as she opened her wardrobe to pick an outfit.

"Nah this is way too sexy for a first outing,he might think am trying to seduce him..."Alex said as shyly as she imagined the thought of her actually seducing him.

"Hmmm how about this?....

"Looks too formal"....Stella said

Alex was on video call with Stella immediately she headed for the wardrobe to pick an outfit,she asked for Stella's help cause she wanted everything to be perfect!...

"Yh you're right"....Alex said as she kept the dress back in the wardrobe.

"Of course am right....why didn't you go for the dress I got for you"....

"Huh!.... don't make me laugh.... told you am never going to where that". Alex laughed as she kept searching through her wardrobe.

"What!.....why the hell not,it's the perfect dress!"....

"Cause.....it is too reveling,c'mon!"...Alex said

Seriously ...too revealing?...but you made it your first option just now"....Stella said

"Well I .....dropped it back cause it was too sexy"...Alex said

"Sigh!"...Stella let out a deep sigh.

"Can you just stop all this fussing and help me pick a dress... Oooh how about this one right here... pretty right?.....Alex said showing a black top and a black high waist trouser.

"Seriously!...are you going for a funeral or what....jeez don't scare the gut away..."

"Ohhh...my bad"....alex said as she dumped it back in her wardrobe.

"What on earth am I now supposed to where"....Alex said with a whimper.

"Can't do anything without me can you?.....wear that.....yh that"...Stella said trying to point it out

"This?"....Ella said picking up a flay purple dress with grey roses printed on it.

"Yh that...it's simple and cute....you don't want too come off too strong just simple...this is the right dress.

"Wow... you're right".....Alex smiled as she held the dress in her hands and started to picture herself in it.

"This is the one!".....Alex said as she grabbed the dress to her chest and fell on the bed"

"Hey! get up.... you're gonna be late!"....Stella yelled bringing her back to reality.

"Oh yh yh....and I just dressed this bed"....Alex Said as stretched the wrinkled path of the bed.

"Oh ok so let me get dressed now ...bye and thanks for all the help"...Alex said reaching for her phone to end the call.

"Wait wait wait..."Stella quickly said

"Use the ash belt and not the purple one ok!.... and please don't take the purple purse...use the white one with the short chain,don't want you looking like a some purple grape"....Stella said laughing as she saw Alex already laughing.

"You need to look like a....

"Hey get your ass over her and make me breakfast you crazy bitch!!" ..a voice from Stella's background said...

"Was that your dad?....Alex asked

"It's nothing just enjoy your date with Caleb and make sure you call me and tell me all the deeds later ok?...Stella said.

"Oh come off it!...it's not a date... just showing him around"...Alex said as she smiled shyly.

"Yh sure....but I think he's gonna be focused on you rather than the tour"...Stella said as she smiled

"Bitch.... don't get on my nerves!"...her dad said again from the background.

"Am coming for goodness sake who takes alcohol this early in the morning!!!..ahhh!"...Stella yelled back at him.

"Yo Lexy,I gotta go,talk to you later...bye"

" Bye"....Alex replied but Stella had already hung up.

"Oh well it's time to get dressed"... Alex said jumping excitedly.

She removed her phone from the tripod she used to hold for phone for the video call she had with Stella.

She then dropped her phone on the bed,picked up the purple dress and wore it with the belt.. then she sat in front of her dresser ad she adjusted her makeup again.

"Wow Alex you look really pretty"..she said to herself as she smiled at the mirror in front of her.

Just then she reached out for her drawer,picked up a box and placed it in the table....she took a deep breath, then she opened the box...it was an ocean blue necklace her dad gave her before he died in a car accident....at least that was the story her mom told her.

She was 15 when she came back from school and got the heartbreaking need of her father's death.

Few days later they had him incriminated,her mother didn't allow her see his body until he was incriminating... part of him was in her room beside her bed,and the other half was with her mom.

Alex placed her two fingers to trace every edge of the necklace....and just then a tear wanted to fall from her face,but she got a hold of herself before it did.

"Dad.....am sorry I haven't been putting this on for quite some time".. she said as she wore the necklace.

" But I promise to always have it with me now"....she said now facing the ancient looking vase her dad's ashes were in.

"You've got this Alex!"....she said facing the mirror this time.

After all that,she grabbed a black flat shoe and put it on, grabbed her purse from the bed...then she out her glasses on.....

"Am ready!.."she smiled as she walked to the door.

"Ohhh my phone!"...she quickly ran to the bed and took it.

"Now....am ready".....

Adjusting the belt on her dress....ex didn't know when she bumped into her mom....who also looked like she was heading out also.

"Where are you headed to?"... Mrs James questioned.

"Ohh just going to the park"....Alex said with a smile.

"With who?"...Mrs James asked again.

"Just me and a friend...mom? Is everything ok?....you seem all worked up.

"Oh me?....no am good"....Mrs James said with a nervous laugh.

"Oh ok .... You heading out?...I mean you are dressed like you have plans to... you're seeing someone right"Alex said now teasing her mom

"Oh goodness....am just meeting up with a friend.

"A very old one.....one I never thought I would be seeing again"Mrs James said as her face expression immediately changed.

"Oh ok then,bye mom....I got my keys,so stay out as late as you want"....Alex said giving her mom a wink as she grabbed the door knob to leave.

"Hey... uhmm sweetheart?"...Mrs james called her back and Alex immediately turned to face her.

"You ok?....I mean like has anything strange happened lately?"....Mrs James asked worriedly.....as she feared what she was thinking wasn't happening.

"Me?....am good, honestly never been better"...Alex said as she smiled over her shoulder.

"Oh I see...that's wonderful"...Mrs James said with a fake smile.

"But why did you ask?.....

"Oh nothing just cause you lifted that dumbbell of 10 pounds....when you only lift a 4 or 5"....Mrs James said...trying to see if Alex is finally realizing something strange.

"Oh really was it that much weight?...I really didn't notice"...Alex said smiling.

"Those were you dad's weights"....her mom said as she was shocked to realise her daughter saw a 10 pound weight as light.

"Hahahaha.....mom you're so funny,I can't lift dad's weight ....I still struggle to get a pickle jar open"...Alex said laughing out.

"Am sure it's some mistake...cause It felt like I was lifting a bottle of water"...alex said laughing again.

"What....a bottle of water?.... Am sure it was a mistake then"....Mrs James said,but she was still unconvinced.

"Yh ... So bye mom, already running late...have fun with your friend!". .Alex said as she finally left.

"Ohh I don't think it's something I will enjoy"....Mrs James said to herself

"We need to meet up as soon as possible...it's already happening"....Mrs James said on call as she watched Alex leave through the window.

"I don't know how much time we have left...inform the rest,we meet at noon... tomorrow night.
