My First Love

76.

I went back to my room and locked the door.

Leaning against my bed, I felt a lump in my throat. I didn't want to recall those crying nights at all.

Then, my phone vibrated.

I felt bitter as I picked up the phone and answered in a low voice, "Hello."

"Are you home?"

It was Aiden.

Listening to his voice, I couldn't help but feel sad so I answered in a muffled voice.

"Yes."

Aiden remained silent for a long time. I thought that he had hung up, but he asked in a low voice.

"Does it still hurts?"

I curled up in the quilt and widened my eyes. Tears were still welling up in my eyes as I vaguely realized what he meant. I couldn't help saying in a muffled voice.

"No."

Aiden said, "I see that you always walk with small steps."

I didn't know how to react to that.

I heard his low laughter.

He was teasing me. I didn't want to hang up but I had no idea what to say as I held the phone. Therefore, I could only say,

"I'm sleepy."
