Feng Yise
I can’t get past chapter 8 without trying to throw my phone at a wall. The translation is so far average, the way the sentences and words are constructed somewhat threw me off. The story development and character design is as cliche as it could get. The first few chapters are a copy of the most generic CN novels you could find. And I mean it. The author literally just change the name of the characters, the world, and the continents. If you’ve read enough CN novels you’ll know how the world background progress.
Don't bother unless you really love reading filler. Like all reincarnation novels it starts of great. Not even 100 chapters and it's full of filler. A meeting between characters took a whole chapter. A whole chapter which could be condensed to a paragraph. When the author introduces "bristle nine yang divine cultivation method of the divine heavens. Created by the bristle nine yang divine emperor" and how the "bristle nine yang divine emperor with his bristle nine yang divine cultivation law ruled the heavens with his bristle nine yang divine power" you'll know how garbage this webnovel is. Filler this novel is 98% filler.
Story is good but it is overly elaborated like unnecessary matter is written in the novel it's boring to read the with these words. B. This novel is extremely over-rated, almost at the point where I'm suspicious that the review score has been messed with. I refuse to believe that this mediocre, non-descript, generic, word-count-centric novel has so many good reviews. Let's start with the biggest flaw. The author is honestly not as clever as he thinks he is. And because of that, a million issues crop up: huge plot holes because of glaring omission. The MC is presented as someone who lived for a long time in a somewhat enlightened kingdom, but he behaves like a teenager on drugs. Intrigue, betrayal, and politic arcs feel like children's colouring books, with cartoon villains and a painfully oblivious MC. The more you read, the more flabbergasted you become. As is the norm with these types of novels, there is a lot of face slapping. And this is one of the points that the translators emphasized. We will have real villains, with real motivations. That was a lie. It's all about immediate gratification. Random thug like characters whose sole purpose is to be humiliated by the MC. And they keep coming and coming. All MC actions are done with a large audience, where everyone is present to witness his greatness. Nobody has anything else to do other than talk about the MC, be amazed by how heaven defying he is, then immediately proceed to forget about it, and randomly pick a fight with him. It's typical for Easter fantasy novels, but for the score and praise of this novel, this is very disappointing. Another big issue is the writing style of the author. The main characteristic, and the purpose of every chapter is word count. Endless repetition, multiple paragraphs stating the same thing over and over, with no addition to the story. Random dialogue and exchanges between minor characters, of no real value. One single fight, in a very early arc, took over 15 chapters, for a single punch exchange. You could honestly reduce it to a paragraph. The novel doesn't have a single original bone in its body. The title contains doctor, and the MC is lauded as a heaven defying alchemists. But when it comes to fighting, as usual, it's all about who can punch harder. No poison, no alchemy fire shenanigans, no special cauldron. Just uga buga me strong me hit. There's not a lot to like about this novel. I have committed to reading up to chapter 100, to give the novel a fair shot, but in all honesty, this feels like a chore, not like something enjoyable. I would stay away from this. There is better stuff out there
If you like reading copypasta filler then you'll like this novel!!! This whole novel is big stinking pile of garbage. It's not even original garbage. Blah blah 2 sentences about alchemy blah blah 2 sentences of outrageous behavior blah blah insert 1.5 million chapters of cliche over used crowd reactions blah blah 75,000 of the same chapters about what he used to be every other sentence blah blah more crowd reactions then 2 million or so chapters later something completely cliche happens and the 'plot' moves forward an inch to repeat this mind numbingly horrific cycle. Don't read this novel. It is time you will never get back. Your children will hate you and your parents will abandon you from the miasma of suck this novel will surround you with. You'll have more fun peeling your fingernails off with razor blades then dipping your hand in lemon juice.
A relatively decent mc is being thrown together with the two most annoying women I think I've ever encountered in a cultivation novel... Author, why the **** would you do this to us? Do you actually think tsundere women are fun to encounter in novels? No sane person is going to like a hot girl, if that hot girl is a cunt or just generally annoying. Stop, seriously, please. Harem and Romance are the worst sections on any novel site, and it gets worse when harem/romance aren't the main genre. All the worst stories on here are the ones in which action is the main genre, but it has the harem/romance tags. Every new story which gets updated at least once a day and has harem or romance tags is undoubtedly the ****tiest story of that week. For the love of god can't you write the same story, but just rewrite it so that the Feng girls get genuinely avoided after meeting them. I mean I know it would drop the total chapter number from like 2000 to around 300, but it's not a bad thing for a story to actually end.
I like this novel so far. The translation is really well done. The story developement is good aswell, the MC starts weak and gets stronger through hard work and knowledge instead of random encounters. The character design is really nice, every character has his own personality, the MC isn't mentally challenged but smart and doesn't overestimate himself. His enemies aren't lunatics either who kill whole villages without a proper reason. The world background is alright, but nothing special. In my opinion this novel is recommendable, even though at the start some things are repeating, it's only in the first few chapters to better memorize things like the different stages of essence qi levels.
I can’t rated the quality of the translation and release since it has not been released yet. But I am giving it the benefit of the doubt as the translator took the time to do a TLer synopsis and review. I’ve read several Pill making focused genre before and they are mostly pretty interesting. However, one of them seem to ended midway. Not sure if the author got lack of interest and decided to just end the novel instead of just stop. I hope this will be a great Pill novel, there is already 2408 chapters in the raw, so I hope the TLer can translate at least 2 chapters a day.
This novel in short is meh. Another MGA and ATG clone. It's a great time waster, but nothing new to see here. Nothing bad but nothing great either, and hits about ever single cliche. I got bored and stopped at 1100 and went to look for something else to read. cliches in this novel: MC reincarnates into the body of a useless person - check Young master - check Faceslapping - check Book about alchemist but focuses on fighting - check MC says they're going to be low key and then immediately starts a scene with flashing neon lights and a bullhorn - check MC starts in the weakest place of the weakest province of the weakest sect of the weak continent, etc - check Whatever faction/sect MC joins, said faction/sect used to the strongest before becoming the weakest - check When MC does doctor consultation they always start with "city lord, years before your wife fell ill did her balls hang low, did they wobble to and fro..." - check MC finds a female beast almost dead, and saves her and said beast's offspring - check Dying female beast give offspring to MC - check Adopted beast pet turns out to have one of the four divine beasts bloodline - check Female love interest is from a powerful background - check Female love interest is spirited away by family/rival suitor - check MC breaks all records for everything, for all time, to a degree far beyond the previous record holder - check MC gets a bloodline of an Asura, dragon and/or pheonix- check Mt Tai - check Vomitting blood - check Oxen hair - check Fighting opponents ridiculously stronger but still winning - check Random words said, listener has breakthrough - check Insignificant skill - check Pheonix feathers and Qulin horns - check Betting to take the long way round - check Killing Gods and Buddha - check Frogs in wells - check Mysterious old men that are secretly experts helping/will help MC - check sure there's more than this.
Generic o'l faceslapping novel, over-used cliches, everyone other than the mc is utterly stupid and countless moments that make you cringe. If you aren't new to CN novels, this might not be for you. If you are new though, let's just say that there are many other more developed novels using the same plots and all. If you think that slapping an 'alchemy' tag to the novel makes it infinitely better, well then go ahead and enjoy. SPOILER: It doesn't.
Translation is excellent, and the updates are fast and timely. However, it is this novel's greatest misfortune to have become premium. The story has a generic MC, and the author twists and repeatedly paraphrases sentences to lengthen word count. It was good as a free novel: updates were fast and stable, translations were very good. But the story is not worth the stones paid.
