ALEX POV:

As the dust settled from the cataclysmic wave of energy that had engulfed the vampire kingdom, Alex's heart raced with worry. She had witnessed the immense power unleashed by Ethan and couldn't help but fear the worst.

Ignoring the danger that still lurked around, Alex ran toward the now desolate kingdom, her breath quick and shallow. She found Ethan lying on the ground, his form weakened and drained, the last vestiges of his borrowed power dissipating.

Tears welled in her eyes as she knelt beside him, cradling his head in her arms. "Ethan," she whispered, her voice trembling with concern. "You did it. You stopped her."

Ethan's gaze met hers, his eyes holding a mix of exhaustion and uncertainty. The curse that had bound them seemed to have dissipated, leaving Alex with a sense of newfound freedom.

"I knew you could do it," she said, her voice choked with emotion. "And now, I can finally tell you the truth."

ETHAN'S POV:

Ethan's brows furrowed, his memories still fragmented and elusive. "The truth?"

Alex took a deep breath, her tears spilling onto her cheeks. "Ethan, we weren't just comrades in the Dagger Society. We were childhood friends, part of a trio of inseparable friends along with Jess."

Ethan's gaze sharpened, and he felt a small glimmer of recognition. Memories, long buried and obscured, began to stir within him. Fragments of their shared past started to emerge, like distant echoes in his mind.

"We were close," Alex continued, her voice filled with nostalgia and longing. "We used to play together, share secrets, and dream about the future. But then... you fell into a coma, and everything changed."

Ethan struggled to piece together the fragments of his memories, a sense of familiarity and warmth washing over him. He nodded weakly, unable to form words but beginning to grasp the significance of Alex's revelation.

Alex brushed a tear from her cheek, her voice trembling with emotion. "Ethan, I've been carrying this secret for so long, unable to tell you because of a curse. But now, with that curse broken, I can finally say that you were not just a comrade to me—you were my friend, my childhood friend."

Ethan's lips curved into a faint smile, a flicker of recognition and warmth in his eyes. The memories remained elusive, but the bond of their shared past had begun to rekindle.

As they embraced in the aftermath of their victory, the weight of secrets and curses lifted, and Ethan's world expanded to encompass not just his comrades but also the treasured memories of childhood friendship.
