3 Amir's POV

Amir's POV

At the point of time where the sun can no longer be seen and the moon has begun shining its rays shining through the sky, hardly obstructed by the few golden clouds in floating in the evening.

The air in the lawn of his one-storey house was cool and dry, there was just the right amount of wind that it wasn't chilly.

It was the evening for a chat.

"Let's talk" he decided to speak out first to loosen the atmosphere.

Amir was worried about the behavior of the girl sitting across from him on the chairs that were set in this lawn for lounging.

It was tradition to meet on these chairs ever since she was a thirteen and now she was sixteen, since last month. Which, was celebrated quietly, just the way she wanted it.

But she was still woefully short. And insecure about it too.

The girl who was sitting in the chair across from him had short silver hair that made them get mistaken for father and daughter. Her height was just about 5'0 and she could be mistaken for a dwarf solely based on that.

But her healthy peach colored skin and refined features were the telltale signs of the Zarab race and dispelled any notions that she was a dwarf

Let's begin' he thought

"How was today's monthly medical"

Hearing the question the girl's face that was in her own thoughts finally snapped out before thinking briefly and replying.

"They said the tests still show the same thing. I haven't shown signs of being close to reaching the Beginner rank." she said in a low voice and lowered her head.

"The future?" he asked

"Still nothing, except a few inches this year I might remain the same way forever" she said sinking to an even lower tone

"That's unfortunate, but you can definitely make it before your 16th birthday" he said trying to cheer her up.

"Yeah…" she replied with her head still down.

'Sigh'

She was already a very hard working girl even by standards of this world and would have been destined for a future with boundless possibilities if she was a normal girl, alas, her path had already been set in stone from her conception into this world.

And to make matters worse it wasn't an easy path at all! The difficulty of her journey was incomparable to his own. That's not to say that the path he was currently set on was easy, his mission of carrying on his wife's legacy in her research was too burdening. Lately he had even been suspecting whether she was actually a dark elf and not a dragon in disguise with the way she always seemed to display high IQ in all aspects of her life.

"At least you're the strongest Psychic in your class" he added helpfully.

"Even if you can't advance already you've grasped control over your Energy"

If he had half of her brain cells he wouldn't still be in the third Phase of her research as she called it.

Speaking of his wife… today was 'that day of the year' again, huh.' As soon as that thought appeared his entire mood soured.

But at that exact moment the girl next to him interrupted him from his thoughts with a question.

"If I was to leave someday, what would you end up doing?" looking up he was met with eyes that seemed to have regained a little more light than before.

She couldn't be thinking of…"Now, now. Don't give up hope yet. I might not be your biological father but I assure you that if there's any thing I can do to help you breakthrough-" but he was interrupted

"I would never think about giving up! I just wanted to know." She realized where his thoughts lay and corrected him.

'What a relief' it seemed like she had found an outlet for her negative feelings. If I continue to humor her, then maybe she might pick herself up…

"Ok…well if you were to achieve your dreams of becoming a 'big' Ranker and leave one day I might end up adopting an orphan" 'Where did that come from?'

"What?" she sounded surprised but she was interested in the story at least.

"Yeah, it has to be a boy, a Space Mage too! His race shouldn't matter as long as he's talented in Space Magic and has the drive to work hard." 'Alright…' he could see a picture in his head. Getting clearer the more he described the child he planned on adopting.

'Wait. Who am I kidding' the man instantly forced his rising emotions to calm down.

"Also, while we're still on the topic of Space Mages I might need to hire one because to ship over my research product patents-"

Just as the man was speaking, he sensed something behind him. The girl was also looking behind dazedly too.

Just as he turned back he came face to face with a kid in rags(latest trend?), but that wasn't what attracted his attention, no.

It was the humongous Energy emissions coming off the still-closing portal right behind him.

He instantly became alert! He didn't see the person that opened the portal for the boy to come over but he didn't doubt that such a happening was planned!

"An intruder?"

Instantly using his Energy he formed a hand to contain the intruder, bringing him close to the both of them but maintaining his grip.

Upon grabbing the kid he discovered that there didn't seem to be much resistance from his body almost as if he was paralyzed.

"Dark Elf" he was a brownskin so what was he doing all the way over here?

The strangest thing was that he just appeared to be watching with blank eyes like some retard

But on closer look he didn't have elf ears so he might be a dark elf halfcast.

Suddenly his mind flashed to a particular terrorist group of Space Mages and their interests

'They're after Adaku's research!' he must have been sent to infiltrate and steal 'the project'

"No, a half-ling dares try to steal from me?" 'Her life's work?' is what he thought

No longer entertaining any thoughts of observing the boy any longer he released his Energy in full force included with killing intent while grabbing him, planning on erasing him at this moment.

Suddenly clarity appeared in his eyes and he opened his mouth to faintly speak

"I didn't steal anything" he said

"Then what are you doing here?" the man asked giving him the benefit of the doubt.

The boy then opened his mouth "I-I-I'm lost!"

"Hahahaha" the man found it funny, he smiled. This kid..? Is he a mad person? Anyways, the world doesn't need another Energy-Mad person. I'll send him off peacefully.

"Alright then, Goodbye"

A hand touched his hand right then

"WAIT!
