It isn't an exaggeration to say that Luke had lost interest in reality. Not that he wanted to stop living or anything as such, he simply didn't find things as exciting or challenging anymore. However, with the introduction of Genesis, everything changed. He had an entire new world to explore, the story behind the game, the multitude of paths that he could potentially take. More than any of these, individuals and situations that could challenge him.

However, things didn't go exactly as he had planned. When Genesis slowly rose the ranks and became an important part of everyone's day-to-day lives, mammoth families like the Covencuts and the Richardson's began to surface slowly. At the same time, Luke found himself feeling alive more in Genesis than in reality.
