Keep a Secret for Me

The next day, David woke up late, around noon. Once he had freshened up, he made his way to the Golden Leaf Hotel.

"Hello, Mr. Lidell!" greeted the staff as he walked in.

After lunch, David headed to the chairman's office to rest. He hadn't been there long when someone knocked on the door.

"Come in," he called out.

Pearl, one of the hotel's employees, entered the room. "Mr. Lidell, the handover of the hotel has started. When are you free?"

"Miss Pearl, I've already told you that I won't be bothering with the handover. You can make the decisions. Just let me know when I need to make a payment."

"Alright then, I won't disturb your rest any further. I'll be moving in tonight and I'll keep the door unlocked for you," Pearl said before leaving the room.

"Damn, she got me again," David muttered to himself as he sat down in his chair and pulled out his phone. He opened up Instagram and saw a direct message from Patrick.

"Dave, when are you coming back to campus?" Patrick had messaged.

"Tomorrow, I think," David replied.

"I have to tell you something, but you have to keep calm," Patrick wrote.

"Spit it out," David responded.

"That bastard Leo posted the photo of you vomiting blood and falling unconscious to the university's website, and even posted some of your past achievements. You're... famous now!"

"Fuck, send it to me now!" David exclaimed.

After a few moments, Patrick sent a photo of David passed out in the woods. David seethed to himself, "This bastard. I just collected some interests from you last night. Just wait and see how I'll destroy you."

Stewing for a bit longer, David decided to message Amelia.

"Hey, I'll see you in Golden Leaf Hotel at 6 p.m. Just tell them your name when you get there," David messaged.

"Alright, Mr. Match. I can't wait to meet you!" Amelia replied. She was in class, but she had been paying attention to her phone the whole day as she was worried that she would miss a call or message from David, the big shot. Compared to tactless and impulsive wealthy playboys like Leo and Jacob, Amelie much preferred interacting with a big shot like David. She was very excited to meet this big shot who could give her more than ten million in one go. Hence, when she saw David's message, she immediately replied. She was a little worried. What if she met an enormous pervert? However, she kind of hoped that David was a truly capable guy with both money and looks.

Amelia knew about Golden Leaf Hotel since it was near the campus and was the only eight-star hotel in the South River Province. It was very popular in South River University, and she had heard that one would spend tens of thousands just to have a meal there. She had never eaten there, but of course, if she was willing, there would be a lot of rich guys willing to treat her to a meal.

The afternoon flew by in a blink of an eye. Around 5:30 p.m., Amelia wore a pair of skinny jeans and a fitted blouse to go to Golden Leaf Hotel.

It had to be said that Amelia did have the capital to be arrogant. No wonder so many rich second generations revolved around her and allowed her to play them like fools. Since she started dancing when she was young, she had curves in all the right places, giving her a stunning face and a smoking hot body.

The moment she entered the Golden Leaf Hotel, an attendant approached her. "Miss, are you here to stay the night or for a meal?" the attendant asked politely.

"Hello, my name is Amelia Hahn. I was invited by someone," Amelia replied.

"Hello, Miss Hahn. Please come with me," the attendant led Amelia to Private Room 1. The attendant had received the news this afternoon that Mr. Lidell would treat someone named Amelia Hahn to dinner, so they should take her immediately to Private Room 1 once she arrived.

After entering the private room, Amelia discovered that it was empty. She quickly took a seat and tried to calm her nerves. As time passed, she heard the door creak open and turned to see a young man walking in. He looked familiar.

"Excuse me, are you David Lidell?" she asked hesitantly, standing up.

David smiled wryly. "Hello, Amelia. Yes, I'm David. I didn't realize I was so popular on campus," he said.

"Are you really David Lidell?" she asked again, still uncertain.

"In the flesh," he confirmed.

"Then, are you Lil Match who gave me more than ten million last night?" she asked incredulously.

David chuckled. "Do I not look like Lil Match?"

Amelia was confused. "But if you're David, how could your girlfriend be stolen away?" she wondered aloud, referring to the scandal that had been all over the university's website and Instagram.

David sighed. "It's a long story. Let's sit and eat while we talk," he suggested. The door opened again and food was served, filling the table in no time.

"Mr. Chairman, the food is all here. Please enjoy. Call out to me if you need any assistance," the lobby manager said before leaving the room.

Amelia was puzzled. "Mr. Chairman?" she repeated. "Why did he call you that?"

Amelia had so many questions swirling in her mind, but David interrupted her thoughts by saying, "Amelia, let's eat. You must be hungry." He then poured a glass of red wine for her. Amelia surveyed the table, and to her surprise, there were dishes that she had only seen on television. She decided to try some and found them to be delicious. It was evident that they were dining in an eight-star hotel.

As they neared the end of their meal, Amelia couldn't hold back her curiosity any longer and asked David, "Is it true that you are the person in the rumor that's been circulating around campus?"

David replied, "Yes, it's me."

Amelia asked, "How is it possible?"

David responded, "Nothing is impossible. I believe that when you're in love, you shouldn't mix other things, so I never exposed who I was. But you can see how it went."

Amelia finally understood, "I see! You were pretending to be poor this whole time. I knew it, only a fool would break up with a big shot like you! Was Sarah your girlfriend?"

David nodded, "Yes, she was."

"David, you don't need to be sad," Amelia comforted him. "There are plenty of fish in the sea. It's alright. There's nothing to be sad about. I thought it through after I was dumped. Why not use what you have? Don't you think so, Amelia?"

Amelia agreed, "You're right!"

David then requested, "Can you keep this secret for me? I'm used to staying low profile. As a reward, you can come here for free meals whenever you want. What do you think?"

Amelia was taken aback, "Free? I forgot to tell you that I own this hotel, Amelia," David said.
