It's A Deal!

『Golden Leaf Hotel – Private Room 3』

Pearl stayed behind and asked David, "David, are you certain you want to purchase this hotel?"

"Yes, I am. I'm just concerned that your boss won't sell it to me. Who is your boss?" David inquired.

"I'm not certain myself. Mr. Greene seldom visits the hotel. Typically, he only appears during the annual dinners. I heard he owns other companies, and Golden Leaf is just one of them," Pearl replied.

"That mysterious? It may be difficult then. He may not be interested in this measly sum of money," David remarked.

This measly money? Was 20 to 30 billion just measly to him? Was this the circle of the ultra-rich? It was frightening! Pearl was going numb. She had worked at the most high-end hotel in South River for three to four years and, with her natural advantages, had met many clients and made numerous friends. Some of them had net worths in the billions or even tens of billions. She felt like she was almost reaching this circle.

However, David had taught her a lesson over the last two days. It appeared that the people she had come into contact with were just the tip of the iceberg. When it came to the truly ultra-rich, they might spend tens of billions just because of their interests or even on a whim.

The so-called rich people with net worths of billions she knew might be nothing compared to David and Mrs. Greene. The money they spent on an impulsive statement could be their entire net worth.

How could they even compare? They weren't on the same level.

As Pearl mulled over this, she gazed at David with growing satisfaction. He was the man of her dreams: young and flawless in temperament, discussing deals worth tens of billions as if they were idle chatter. He was an emperor, holding court over the affairs of the world.

But if David knew what Pearl was thinking, he'd laugh until his jaw dropped. "Flawless temperament? Talking idly about important matters? I'm just a loser with barely a thousand dollars to my name, ditched by my ex over a ten thousand dollar purse. Anybody who suddenly became wealthy would have a good temperament in this materialistic society, and might even be more extravagant than me."

Pearl watched David eating, then looked away. "Perhaps not," she said. "Everything has a price. If David is willing to pay it, Mr. Greene will sell. He's a smart businessman, and his goal is to make the most profit he can."

"Sounds plausible," David said, carefree as he ate. "Come on, Miss Pearl, sit down and have something to eat. If I buy this hotel, I'll make you the manager!"

Pearl felt a buzz in her head, almost causing her to pass out. What had David just said? He'd make her the manager of the hotel if he bought it? The general manager? The difference between a lobby manager and a general manager was just one word, but the position and treatment were worlds apart.

The general manager held the highest authority, second only to Mr. Greene and the other chairmen. In Mr. Greene's absence, the general manager would become the de facto boss. Furthermore, he received an annual salary of over ten million dollars, including bonuses. Pearl wondered what her own salary was in comparison.

Now, David claimed that he would purchase the hotel and appoint her as the general manager. Could this be true? Was her instant success within reach?

"David, my love, are you serious?" Pearl asked, feeling light-headed.

"Absolutely! Why does everyone think I'm joking? Didn't I mention that if your boss causes trouble for you, I'll purchase the hotel and appoint you as the boss? I noticed your eyes were red when you arrived. I believe your boss may have reprimanded you for leaving this morning."

Pearl's eyes welled up with tears again, but this time it was out of gratitude and excitement. "David, we've only known each other for two days. Why are you being so kind to me? You've given me a car and let me stay in this wonderful house for free. Now, you're even buying this hotel to promote me!"

David sensed something amiss with Pearl's voice and turned around to face her. "Miss Pearl, why are you crying..."

Before he could finish, the door flung open.

Pearl quickly composed herself and stepped aside as Hugh and Sean walked in. Sean had been waiting for Hugh outside his office earlier and had followed him down here. He had no other choice. This moment would determine his fate. The hotel's ownership could change at any moment. If that happened, would he still remain the general manager? Given Pearl and David's relationship, the odds were not in his favor.

He earned an annual salary of six million in this position, plus a bonus of about ten million. Moreover, Mr. Greene was rarely present, making him the de facto boss. He could even take advantage of the female attendants looking to advance their careers. He had even made inappropriate advances towards Pearl, but she had always rejected him. If Pearl had not been good at her job, he would have fired her long ago. Losing this job would mean losing his source of income and power.

At this moment, he could only pray that the transaction would be unsuccessful. If not, his good days would come to an end.

"Sean, you should go out with Ms. Warner. I need to talk to Mr. Lidell," Hugh said as he walked into the room, motioning for Sean to follow him.

"Yes, Mr. Greene," Sean and Pearl answered simultaneously before leaving the private room.

"Mr. Lidell, are you serious about buying this hotel?" Hugh asked as he sat down.

"Of course, Mr. Greene. If you're selling, I'm buying," David replied.

"I just discussed with the shareholders and if you're serious about buying, you need to pay this price. What do you think?" Hugh gestured with two fingers.

"Twenty billion?" David asked.

"Yes, Mr. Lifell. You should know that this hotel is located in the busiest area of River City and South River Province. The renovations were done according to the highest standards, and the profit has been steadily increasing every year. At this price, you won't suffer a loss."

"Alright, twenty billion it is. However, I'm not familiar with the handover. Just contact Pearl directly. She'll be the general manager here from now on," David said nonchalantly.

It was just twenty billion. To him, it was nothing. He had never even spent two hundred dollars so carefreely before.

"Great! Since you've agreed to this, it's a deal. However, the handover process is mired in minor details, so it might take around a week. According to the rules, you'll have to pay a 10% deposit. If for any reason you're unable to continue with this transaction, we won't return the deposit to you."

"Okay!" David replied.

Hugh took out his phone and made a call. "Hello, Mr. Hansen. This is Hugh Greene. Can you come to Private Room 3?"

"Sure, Mr. Greene. I'll be there soon," Jack Hansen, the head of financial affairs in Golden Leaf Hotel, replied from the other end of the line.
