Cab?

David's voice filled the room, "Back when I didn't know what hesitation meant, I fell in love with her by accident. I thought I understood her, and that's why I loved her so carefree. I held onto her hands tightly, refusing to let go of the obsession in our hearts and the future. Your love is unforgettable, but changing the ending proved too difficult. I couldn't make you stay, and unlike him, I can't offer you the future you long for. Oh, a childish boy..."

The first verse ended, and the venue of over ten thousand people fell silent. The second verse soon followed, "I carry your care with me everywhere and open it only when there's no one else around. Are you still sad? Like the sea under the sunlight, like the color I painted with my heart, I'll make you smile and give you courage. I can't forget you."

The song concluded, but the venue remained silent. Were they shocked? Of course. No one expected David to sing such a heart-wrenching song. The lyrics, the music, the performance, and the piano had penetrated deep into everyone's hearts. Those who shared similar experiences shed tears.

Sarah leaned on her best friend Sophie, her face soaked with tears. David's song was about their past. The "you and I" in the song were David and Sarah. Sophie looked at her best friend in her arms and sighed. He was an exceptional and loyal man, but she dumped him for a scumbag.

She wasn't deserving of him, or so she believed. Ava sat below the stage, gazing up at David with a blank expression. Despite being classmates for three years, she felt like she hardly knew him at all. His songwriting, singing, and composition were all of the highest quality. What made it even more remarkable was that he drew from personal experiences, creating such moving lyrics. An extraordinary man was like a firefly in the night - always catching one's attention. Ava wondered if David's recent breakup had triggered him, revealing his secret side. How many secrets did he keep hidden away?

As Ava became increasingly curious, Amelia felt a twinge of disappointment. It wasn't surprising that David was exceptional; after all, didn't big shots like him possess culture? David had mentioned wanting to keep a low profile, but was this it? Now, with so many potential rivals, Amelia felt threatened by Ava, a fellow classmate of David's. She had to bring David down before everyone knew the truth about him, or else she'd miss out on such a great man.

The music teachers at the university had finally discovered a student with such immense musical talent. Nobody had realized it before. One person started clapping, and then another, until more than ten thousand people erupted in applause. David stood up, bowing to the audience before exiting the stage. Tonight, he was destined to be the most captivating man in the room.

The city by the sea was a marvel compared to the inland River City. It surpassed it in every aspect, from infrastructure to culture. David sat in the luxurious first class section, gazing out the window at a plane flying to Lake City from River City. Behind him stood a stunning, tall stewardess, her hands kneading his shoulders with expert precision.

The first-class experience was unlike any other. David had his own room and access to the finest cuisine in the world. He was even assigned a dedicated stewardess to cater to his every need. Such excellence came at a steep price, fifty times the cost of an economy ticket. The luxury of first class was reserved for the elite, the select few who could afford it.

"Mr. Lidell, may I offer you any food or beverage?" Jane Blau asked, her hands continuing their massage. She had been attending to David for over an hour, and her fingers ached with fatigue. However, she dared not stop until David signaled for her to. Jane was one of the elite stewardesses in the super luxurious first class, catering to the needs of high-end clients. Unlike her counterparts in business or economy class, she served the guests one-on-one, making the job easy but demanding. The salary was far higher, commensurate with the level of responsibility.

Jane had only been on the job for a month. Her predecessor had snagged a wealthy client and resigned to live the life of a rich wife. The turnover rate was high, given that the stewardesses frequently left to pursue romantic interests with wealthy passengers. The airline, therefore, had a large reserve of personnel, eager to work on the planes. Every day, new hires signed long-term contracts after completing their training. If they were to resign, they would lose a significant amount of money equivalent to the cost the company had invested in their training. However, despite this, many stewardesses still opted to resign each year. Following their resignation, some of them were able to lead a comfortable life, while others were not so fortunate. Jane had never considered dating wealthy men; all she wanted was to cherish her job.

"Mr. Lidell?" Jane called out once more when David failed to respond. At that moment, he was sound asleep. "Mr. Lidell?" Jane persisted in calling out.

David remained unresponsive as Jane noticed he had dozed off. With a sigh of relief, she ceased massaging him and quietly shut the door behind her before leaving. Thirty minutes later, Jane's voice softly roused David from his sleep, "Mr. Lidell? Mr. Lidell?"

Groggily, David stirred and asked, "Huh? So fast?"

"Mr. Lidell, you've been sleeping for over an hour," Jane informed him.

"Thank you, Miss Blau," David expressed his gratitude.

"You're welcome, Mr. Lidell. It's our pleasure to assist you," Jane replied.

David stood up and stretched his body before leaving the plane. Apart from his phone, he brought nothing else. Outside the airport, he waited by the roadside since he had called Hugh before boarding the flight. Although Hugh promised to pick him up, he had yet to arrive. Ten minutes passed when he heard a familiar voice from behind him, "Mr. Lidell!"

David turned around to see Jane, the stewardess who had massaged him on the plane. She was now wearing her uniform and holding a small suitcase. "Miss Blau, hello," David greeted her.

"Mr. Lidell, are you waiting for your friend?" Jane inquired.

"Um... I'm about to call a cab," David answered.

David was planning to call a cab to go to Hugh's company. Call a cab? Jane was curious. A person who could afford to sit in super luxurious first class was calling a cab? "What a coincidence. I'm about to hail a cab to go to the hotel. Where are you going, Mr. Lidell? Do you want to carpool?" Jane asked. When David was about to decline, he heard another voice. "Jane, is he your boyfriend?" A stewardess, a few years older than Jane, walked over with her suitcase.

"Please don't misunderstand, Ms. Jenkins. This is Mr. Lidell. He was in the cabin that I was responsible for just now," Jane explained.

"Jane, you must keep your eyes open when you are looking for a man. Some people just like to pretend to be rich and fly in first class to deceive newcomers like you. Several girls in our crew have been deceived," Ms. Jenkins said.

"Ms. Jenkins, it's not what you think…"

"I know, young people like you always want handsome guys as boyfriends. When you are a little older, you will know that good looks can't pay the bills. You must find someone who is practical, who is good to you, and also has money. Trust me, I wouldn't lie to you," Ms. Jenkins continued.

David glanced at Ms. Jenkins, whose face was covered with thick makeup. Was this woman sick in the head? Or was she undergoing menopause?
