10: Broken

*Now*

"Yes! That's why I was chosen. To get to use my powers to save the world!" Nick whisper-shouted before opening his eyes to see a portal right before him. In the portal, he saw his parents and his sister tied up beside a pool of blood just like in his dream. Maybe his third power might be to see what will happen in the future.

Nick was totally sad seeing his family in such a situation. How am I going to reach them? How am I going to save them? Nick asked in his mind.

"I will help you. Now you know about your powers, think of the word you like best. The thing you can never live without. The dearest thing to you." Edrek advised in Nick's mind.

"I know. My family," Nick replied out loud.

"Ok. Now, do as I tell you. You need a teleporting portal to teleport you to your parents. So, think of what you want whilst holding the pearl in your palm. Then swing your arms with the pearl in a circle for sometime without breaking your thoughts. That will create the portal which would take you to your parents. Mind you, before stepping into the portal, you must first shout the word-' My Family' to summon all your powers. Now, action!" Edrek ordered.

Nick ran up to his room to get the pearl just in time to find one of Mario's panthers circling around it.

Nick thought of getting the panther away.

"My Family!"

Unfortunately, that didn't work.

Uh, oh!

"Remember, you are not with the pearl. The other halves of your powers are in the pearl. You need to get it now. The panther is just an optical illusion. It cannot harm you." Edrek reminded Nick.

"Wow! How can I forget. Stupid me!" Nick exclaimed as he face-palmed himself.

Nick just walked up to the pearl, ignoring the panther as though nothing was there.

As he took the pearl-as usual- it shot its blinding glow across the room making the panther skitter away.

As Nick was ordered, he thought of his family- his mom, dad, and sister.

He then swung his arms with the pearl around.

"My Family!!!" He shouted with all the strength he could muster out of his tired body.

Opening his eyes, he saw the portal right before him.

"Jump!!!" Edrek shouted, this time, orally and out loud.

Nick jump in.

Darkness.

Darkness.

Extreme damn darkness.

Thump!

Nick fell, smacking his fore-head against a rock-wait, what?! Skulls!!!

He had landed on cold rotten smelly skulls!

Yuck!

Couldn't he have landed on anything else but skulls?!

"Karma."Nick sighed under his breath.

He stood up slowly, the pearl still in his clutch.

He heard footsteps and whistling, seeing a bright figure approaching him.

"It's about time you are here, mi-Nick," Mario said calmly, taunting Nick's name.

"Follow me to see your parents."

Mario added, turning on his heels and walking back to where he came from.

Nick was reluctant but still followed him.

After a few minutes walk, he caught sight of his sister and parents all tied up, surrounded by a large pool of blood-- unconscious!!!

Nick was broken!
