16 You deserved it

Somewhere in a spacious living room, a blonde-haired charming man called over his butler. "Are the people standing guard at Bonington Hall still there?"

"Yes, Sir Lucas."

"And?" Lucas asked menacingly as his deep dark blue eyes glared in no particular direction.

"There are no changes since the last hour, Sir Lucas," the butler reported.

The butler could not make out why Sir Lucas is obsessed in getting an hourly update of his victim. The others never seemed to bother where their victim is at all times. They would just notify the relevant party of the when, where and what time they want when they need to.

To say Lucas fall for her is unimaginable. He is a purist. He loathes those who fall for humans. Humans are nothing but a plaything for the vampires, exploited for any possible resources they are able to obtained. They knew they are made a fool of and yet, they still throw themselves when vampires demand.

Lucas behaviour was, without a doubt, unnatural.

Lucas did not have enough of the blood he had sucked out of Sara. He merely had a sip. He blamed himself for wanting to play tag with her. He had never considered that she might have an outside help – let alone disappear into thin air. Oh but the sweet sweet taste of her blood. The way the thick liquid oozes out of her fine arteries the moment his teeth penetrates through her skin. He is craving for it so badly now.

He never knew the sweet taste would be so addictive. If he could, he would suck out all her blood but that would be a bad idea. She would be dead and he will not be able to taste it anymore. Normally the vampires have compatibility with more than one human so they would be able to replenish their drinking supply. Lucas could not find any other humans who have such heavenly tasting blood as Sara so he planned to drink her blood bit by bit. It is all about knowing your rations, after all.

He remembered the first time he caught a whiff of Sara's blood, his mind has gone crazy. Due to that and the crowded area, he could not precisely locate the owner of the lovely scent. For years he searched but to no avail. When he finally did catch her, he thought it would be more interesting to play with his food. Unfortunately for him, he had to pay for his own price - to play the game even longer.

* * * * *

Adam and Jia Yu have excused themselves to leave as night has gone deeper. Even when they left, Harith was still tenaciously bothering Sara whereas Bryce stepped up to offer himself to cook for dinner.

Sara did voice out that she wanted to lend a helping hand but to her dismay, Bryce insisted she needed the rest. 'There's no way I want to be near them after ALL that!'

The drama was too overwhelming for Bryce that he would rather be an audience, not a participant in the debate.

"Don't I have more than enough rest already??" Sara grumbled as she stomped her feet towards the living room and her limb hang loosely.

Harith has managed to convince her that indeed three days has gone by. He took the Blood Red Party invitation card and his phone to prove the dates has changed.

Initially Sara did not believe it as she thought Harith changed the date settings on his phone but the other three phones matched with Harith. She used her phone and combed through the search engine.

The notion of Harith changed all the date settings on almost every device she owns was too cumbersome. 'There is no way Harith is that jobless to throw a silly prank,' laughing internally at the very thought.

"Technically, you have been resting a lot for a day's worth but too little for three days," Bryce lectured her.

"But my body is still feeling like it's still the same day," she whined.

"Just be grateful he is kind enough to cook for you dinner. So what happened at the Party?" Harith asked shamelessly after scolding her.

"Honestly Harith, if I could receive a dollar for every eye roll I made because of you, I'll be filthy rich by now," Sara had been trying to avoid this topic. She was not sure whether the Party is meant to be confidential or is she stopping herself from sharing out of worry her friends might panic when they hear. Little did she know that the three of them had an idea of what might have happened.

Realising she is playing dumb of the whole situation, Harith then asked a silly question that might take her mind off from the vampire topic, "So as a guest of honour of the Blood Red Party, do you feel like a VIP now?" While he was asking, he stealthily tried to move closer to her neck – to see for the bite marks.

SLAP! Sara could not take it anymore with his nonsense as she slapped his back. He definitely deserved it after all the pestering.

"Heyyyy! What was that for?" Harith rubbed at the spot where he was slapped as it started to itch.

"You deserved it!"

Harith glared at her and stormed off of their flat immediately. He was not being seriously angry but he just wants her to feel slightly guilty by his sudden reaction and hope that she would start to blab somehow.

Bryce shook his head and pretended like he was not there. It lies well with Sara as she wanted the peace and quietness. She sat down quietly, listening to the sound of the food crackling while being cooked.
