17 Lucas
The next morning, Sara left her place to go to work. Bryce has not successfully persuaded Sara to rest more at home. As she exited the Bonington Hall, a figure that was sitting by the bench outside stood up and followed her. The person instantly reported to his superior once Sara has confirmed entering her workplace. In less than five minutes the information has reached Lucas.
Lucas wanted to dash out and confirmed with his own eyes that it was true she has come back. He assumed she would never ever return back to the institution after what she has experienced. He could not grasp what the woman is thinking. Mostly the rest of the humans volunteered to be their toys so there was no need to use the Blood Red Party as an excuse.
He was worried because the last time they held that event five years ago, the victim has make a run for it. The vampires were not bothered to chase after one measly food when they have other supplies. In this day and age, if the victim decided to speak out, nobody would believe them anyway. But he did not want Sara to run away, he needed her blood… so badly.
He had to be careful. He needs to make a plan properly. 'Maybe if I could make her fall for me, she would be willing to stay by my side,' he smiled cunningly as his eyes gleamed with elation.
He wore his finest clothes and head towards the accounting department of the administration building. To say he is well known in both Kyo Educational Institution and Kyo Health Care Institution would be an understatement. Not only is he known as the Chief Financial Officer but he is also the only famous playboy who sleeps with both human girls and vampires.
His spontaneous visit was announced, causing an uproar to the Finance Department. Every single finance officers goes through their work hastily to see if they had made a mistake. The Accounting Department was much more calm.
"No need to worry, we know and have done our own role and tasks. Since we are a small unit that often communicates, I am pretty confident it's not from our side. If ever he needs any report, we got it," Lisa tried to give her subordinates pep talk to boost their confidence.
Nevertheless, they showed their respect by awaiting the arrival of the CFO by their department's door. Lucas expected a grand entourage upon his arrival and is satisfied that his staffs had met the requirement. He strolled and uses the opportunity to ask relevant questions pertaining to the institutions. His nose is working overtime as he tried to sniff to catch a smell of Sara's blood.
The smell of her blood is stronger in the small office room on his right. He walked right into the room with the staffs immediately bowed down their head. The smell was overwhelming that he began to pine for it. He could not help but walked towards her direction.
Sara heard footsteps coming closer but she jolted in surprise when she saw dark brown loafers steps into her view.
"What's wrong? Am I that scary to you?" the owner of loafer asked.
Adam, Jia Yu and Lisa's curiosity piqued as they heard Lucas asked Sara a question that is not work related.
"N-no. Not really. I'm just startled, sir," Sara answered respectfully with her head still bowed down.
Lucas thought Sara would recognise his voice and look up to see his face – the voice of the person who bite her down but Sara was not responding according to his plans. He was not sure whether she was scared to face him; to face reality or she was just clueless.
He raked his brain trying to find a way for her to look at him without attracting attention. Not until he remembered his status as the playboy and decided to use it to his advantage.
"You sounded beautiful. Look at me, girl!" he commanded with his sweetest voice possible.
Instantly like a switch, the women standing outside of the Accounting Department heads looked up as they heard him flirt. They are full of envy and would like to see who was the lucky woman.
Sara looked up and looked vacantly at him. Again, this was not the exact reaction he expected from her. Most women would swoon the moment they laid their eyes on him. Everyone, without fail, had fallen for his charms and yet this woman here shows nothing of the sort.
Sara has never seen his face before. Not even during the Blood Red Party. His name was never mentioned then too. The only thing she remembered of the man from the Party was his raspy voice but this man does not have a raspy voice.
As a result, she did not think that the man in front of her and the man from the Party were the same person, as what Lucas wanted.
Lucas asked for her name even though he knew, purely to keep the conversation going. Sara responded meekly, uncomfortable with the situation and hoping for the CFO to move on.
Sensing that Sara was trying to cut the conversation short and not interested to talk further, he contemplated whether he would dare to ask her outright to be his plaything. However, he was feeling conscious that if he failed, she might come to hate him instead when he intended to make her fall for him.
Out of his wits, Lucas made the decision to invite her to his office and instructed his assistant to fetch her before he leave. With that, he exited the Accounting Department and went to the Finance Director's office.
Immediately, the women from the Finance Department all flocked towards Sara.
"I can't believe he actually choses you."
"I thought I might have a chance. He responded to my flirting just now."
"You're going to have so much fun! I heard he's good in bed."
"You can enjoy all the privileges while you're with him."
"Puh-leese, she is replaceable."
"If you are not from Accounting Department, please head back to your respective office," Adam's voice boomed in the small room, causing the women to jump. "I repeat, please go back to your respective office. Sir Lucas is still inside the Finance Director's office."
The last line made everyone snapped back to reality and made a beeline out of the Accounting Department's door.
Sara was indifferent. She had never heard any rumours. Or more precisely, she avoided any rumours that have nothing to do with her life. She just shook her head when she heard the women gossiped, providing her with useless information.
Her colleagues began to gather around her. 'Oh no, not them too,' Sara moaned internally, assuming they wanted to gossip but it immediately turned to guilt as her colleague was trying to give her advice.
"Don't you dare fall for him. He's a player and you might get hurt," Lisa advises her and Jia Yu nodded along.
"Don't let his power fool you," Adam added.
Sara was about to thank their thoughtfulness but then there was a slight knock and they heard a man's voice, "Miss Sara, Sir Lucas is about to leave. Please follow me."
