Chapter 2

Rem and Shera led Nexus to the town. Luckily for Nexus, he had no equipment or anything like Dioblo that made him suspicious. And Nexus didn't have to hide what he was for the most part. He was just excited to use his abilities. He had a few ideas of spells that he can use since there is only a magic requirement. Like ones from Overlord you only need to know the name for spells and stance for martial arts. "So, what level is common around here?" Nexus asked as they walked around. "Well I'm a level 40 summoner. I think the average is level 20 around here" Rem said. "Right, I haven't taken the summoner's test yet! I bet I'm level 50 by now" Shera said. ""You are likely a level 10. You are below average" Rem said. "But when I was tested earlier I was a level 60" Shera said as she was in thought. "If you scored that high, why didn't you get a summon until now?" Rem asked. "Well, it was the archery test when I was 8," Shera said awkwardly. "Level 60 is impressive when you are 8" Dexus said. "What level are you Dexus?" Shera asked. "Well, I'm not sure. Most likely above 200" Nexus said. "Ha ha, good one, no one can reach beyond level 160" Shera said while Rem was sweating a bit as she was afraid of what would happen. "One thing you should remember. Never assume that the same rules apply in other worlds. Also you are a level 30" Nexus said as he skipped the guild. They went in and booked a single room. "Why did you book a single room Nexus?" Rem asked. "You two would have been bickering back and forth if I didn't. You two sleep on the bed, I will take the floor" Nexus said as he sat cross legged on the floor. Rem and Shera looked at each other in confusion. "Um, Nexus. It's like 2 in the afternoon" Shera said and Rem nodded. "I know, I just need to change something, '' Nexus said as a black goop covered him and formed a proper black robe and a mask with a hood. Rem and Shera were surprised. "Now, let's go"  Nexus said as they went into the guild and registered. Shera was a level 30 summoner but when Nexus touched the glass it instantly shattered. "What happened?" Sylvy said as she ran to the lobby. "I-I don't know" the receptionist said as they were dragged into her office. She explained that we couldn't register as full on adventurers due to how they couldn't determine Nexus's level. We left and went to dinner and ate. 

(Pov Nexus)

We ate even though I had no need to eat until Celestine came alone and sat across from us. "Hello Rem, why do you have a color on you?" Celestine asked. "We were summoning and the spell backfired and made us Nexus's slaves" Rem said. "HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO LADY REM" Galluk yelled as Celestine put her hand up to silence him. "Mr. Nexus, is there anyway for you to release Rem from the slavery charm? She is very important" Celestine said as she tried to ask nicely to not make a scene. "I'm sorry, but I can't do that. I'm not familiar with this world's magic. And I already know why you are protecting Rem and her request was for me to help her and I will. I'm sorry for wasting your time" I said and bowed slightly. "You dare not do as we request disgusting demi humans" Galluk said as he pointed his staff at me and started chanting. I sent a black goo arm that had a blade at the end in his direction and was an inch from his face. "Did you not listen? I don't know how to undo the spell completely. Also don't judge a person based on what they are. I can kill this entire town with a flick of my wrist but I don't since I believe people deserve to live regardless of what they are. You humans only have one advantage at its numbers. Don't judge too fast or it would be your downfall" I said as I retracted the blade arm. Galluk left in rage. "Well I thank you for protecting her. Please, eat as much as you want. I'll pay" Celestine said as Shera's eyes sparkled as she ordered plate after plate. "I think that was a mistake but you can't go back on it" I said as I chuckled. I left the group as they ate and talked because I don't really fit in. I passed a drunk Galluk and his group and he bumped into me. "Hey! Watch where you're going!" He yelled as he threw a bottle at me which broke as it hit my robe. I had enough but he is connected to an important event in the plot so I won't kill him until then. "Watch it," I warned him. He started laughing and his group did the same. "I'm sick of your attitude and it's time to learn your place! Fireball!" he said as a fireball left his staff. I grabbed the knife I had from the diner and used a full counter which doubled its power and reflected it back. Galluk put up a barrier but it shattered and blasted him back. "I'm sick of you! I'll use my most powerful summon" he said as he summoned the fire salamander. His group was telling him not to do it but he just ordered it to attack.  I withstood the attack with ease thanks to elemental nullification from Remiru. "Check in" I said as the system popped up. "Congratulations! Every time you sign in in a different world you get a sign in bonus! Your bonus for this world is [Unity of Babylon]. The [Unity of Babylon] is an upgraded version of [Gate of Babylon] in which any weapon the user sees will be copied and reforged with Unity Energy and placed into [Unity of Babylon]. Any weapon the user gets by signing in will be reforged with more Unity Energy than if the user just sees the same weapon. Since the user has no weapon currently, the system is giving the user [Ea, the Sword of Rupture and Unity] and adding it to [Unity of Babylon] sign in at 12 pm tomorrow for next sign in" The system said. "Ea! That sword was already ridiculously powerful before and now it's upgraded further! I can't wait to use it but I won't do it in town. I might wipe it off the map" Max said to himself as the flames died out. "H-how is this possible! That was a level 30 salamander!" Galluk yelled in fear. I was surrounded by low level summons and figured its not worth my time to fight. "Negative Burst!" I said as a wave of pure negative energy was released on my and destroyed the summons completely but held back enough for the wave to only reach the summons. They ran away as Gulluk was cursing at me.

I went back and saw that Rem and Shera were asleep. "Maybe I should do my best to protect them" I said quietly as I made two small, All black slime symbiotes and placed one on each. The symbiotes grew and covered them real quick before seeping into their skin. They aren't separate  symbiotes so they won't try to control their hosts. It's just an extra defensive measure against what is supposed to happen soon, and it does get them much stronger. I fell asleep on the ground.
