First Quest

[Aqua Slime Lv. 2 Has Been Defeated!]

[You Gained 220×3 EXP!]

[Level Up!]

User: Lyrica Ley Rael

Lv. 0 --> 1

Total EXP:

- (890)

"I leveled up..."

"Yeah. The EXP you gained multiplied by threefold due to the level gap between you and the aqua slime. That bonus EXP allowed you to level up fast."

[Max Mana Has Increased!]

Mana Points: 20 --> 22

[All Stats Has Increased!]

Strength: 10 --> 11

Endurance: 10 --> 11

Agility: 10 --> 11

Stamina: 10 --> 11

Senses: 10 --> 11

dB Limit: 10 --> 12

[Stat Points Acquired: 3]

As she succeeded in killing the aqua slime with her left fist, Lyrica gained 660 worth of total EXP, combined with her current 230 experience, resulting in her increasing her level from 0 to 1.

Together with an increase in her level, Lyrica's Max Mana pool, as well as her stats have gained an increase. Her strength, endurance, agility, stamina, and senses all gained an additional one point. While her decibel limit and her max mana both received an additional 2 points.

"Increasing my level is good and all, but when did I get the other 230 EXP?" Asked, Lyrica. "I only killed one slime that is level 2 which gives me 660 Worth of experience. I don't remember doing anything, nor completing a quest to gain that portion of EXP."

"Well, you don't necessarily need to kill a monster or complete a quest to gain EXP."

From waking up in the middle of nowhere and seeing a beautiful view of a flower field, to encountering and being chased by creatures only found in Alteria. Everything that Lyrica experience equates to her EXP. And that experience allows both her and her magic to grow. That is how Lyrica gained the rest of the EXP required to level up without realizing it.

"Seriously?!"

"Well, you can see it for yourself."

[System: Real-time EXP Info Toggled On]

Current EXP / Required EXP:

- (0 / 1235)

"What?"

A holographic image of Lyrica's current and required EXP to level up appeared before her eyes.

"I turned on the EXP overlay so you could see how much experience you gain with every action you make."

"You can do that?"

"Why don't you make a few steps."

While Lyrica's attention were onto the EXP overlay displayed from the left corner of her eyes, the young girl took a few steps forward. After doing so, the 0 current EXP that she had turned into 3.

"I did six steps in total, and it gave me about 3 EXP. Amazing."

"Right? You wouldn't find that kind of system in any of the games in your world."

"Yeah."

It wasn't that big of an amount to feel excited about. But, Lyrica find it amazing how it was so easy to gain an experience unlike in a game where you have to grind hard in order to gain a certain amount of EXP.

The waiting for the loading screen, the tough monsters you need to beat, and the absurd requirements of the quests, all in order to level up. The hard grind to level up is the reason why Lyrica wouldn't start playing again after quitting once.

"So I can get 1 EXP in every two steps. Let's see... I wonder how much experience I can get if I sprint?"

Out of her curiosity, Lyrica started dashing in a circle.

"Hey, don't you think it's a bad idea to do what you're doing right now?"

"Huh? Ah..."

But just like how online games makes her forget all the troubles and stress of life, Lyrica's amazement about her magic made her forget that she's in a land of monsters.

A mob of level 5 and a few lower level slimes that have entered the 10-meter distance and beyond that was attracted by the sound of Lyrica's rapid footsteps, and the flowers and grasses that rustled as she run past them.

"Crap...!"

Before she could even react, Lyrica is already surrounded by them. And they all seem to be in a bad mood. Perhaps they were disturbed because of the young girl whose running around their territory.

And then...

"Slime attack? One strike?"

As the slimes approaches further from all directions, Lyrica's headphones gave her a Quest to defeat five Lv. 5 slimes with one strike.

"Hey, they all look like they are coming to bite my head off. Can you get rid of the others and leave five of them for me?"

"I'm afraid that won't be possible."

"Say what?"

"To tell you the truth, my only purpose is to bring you into Alteria after you accept the agreement and let you figure out things on your own."

"Then why answer my questions? Why tell me about this world and my magic ability?"

"... Let's just say that I took a liking to you."

"Eh... If you like me, then shouldn't you be helping me right now?"

"Relying on others for your own personal gain is the most foolish thing to do. If you want to achieve your goal, if you want to start a new life in Alteria together with your friend, you have to do it yourself."

"Meh..."

"Besides, you already know how your magic works, so there's no reason for you to be afraid."

"Well, yeah... But using my head is a bit tiring and troublesome... Oh, well."

Lyrica took a deep breath as she began to use her mind to think.

Unlike before, despite knowing that Lv.5 monsters are something she cannot handle easily with her current level and strength, there was no hint of fear or hesitation coming off of Lyrica. Rather, there is this glint of confidence in her charcoal-black eyes as she glared daggers at the mob of monsters closing in on her.

Thanks to the voice inside her head, Lyrica learned about her magical ability and how it works. Just like what the voice mentioned before, Lyrica's magic is born through her strong desire to avoid trouble and overcome difficult situations. Lyrica's magic ability manifested to make things less troublesome and difficult for her.

That being said, Lyrica's magic ability wouldn't give her something that will be troublesome and difficult for her to accomplish. In other words, the quest she received is doable. She needs only to figure out how she can take them down with one strike.

'Let's see... There are about nine Lv. 5 slimes and a bunch of other lower level slimes heading my way, but I only need to kill five Lv. 5 ones.'

Lyrica mumbled inside her head.

'Three of them are fire type, the two others are lightning. While the remaining four are wind, water, ice and charging or earth type. I've already seen what these things can do and how they do it.'

It was after she realized that the flower field was infested with slimes that she witnessed the power of every single type of those bouncy creatures have.

The light blue slime shoots water, the red slime burns up and then explodes and the brown slime throws itself through objects. The green slime can fire a strong gust, and the white slime can freeze anything with its breath. And then, the yellow slime can produce lightning.

"If I want to defeat five Lv. 5 slimes with one strike, I have to kill the one that can affect the others surrounding it to make a chain reaction."

Said, the young girl inside her thoughts.

"Aqua slimes can be powerful, but it can do nothing but shoot a high pressured water. Meanwhile, the lightning slime can electrocute a part of the ground, as well as anything that it touches with its body, so trying to kill it to make a chain reaction will also have a bad effect on me. The ice, earth, and wind types are out of the option. If I am looking to defeat five slimes with one strike..."

Lyrica turned to her left as she rushed towards one of the Lv. 5 flare slime.

"I'll have to take you down first!"

As she gets in the right distance to throw her left fist, Lyrica punched the flare slime out of her way, opening a path from being surrounded by the other slimes.

"Just as I expected, Lv. 5 monsters wouldn't go down with just a single punch. However, killing you with one punch is not what I'm aiming for."

As the red slime heats up and let out an explosion after being hit by Lyrica, she took the chance to escape from being cornered by going through the opening she created after punching the flare slime away.

"Flare slimes don't just heat up and then bursting into flames out of nowhere."

Lyrica continued running until she finally went past the red slime she hit. And then she stopped.

"The red slimes heats up and then create an explosion when they get irritated, as if imitating a person trying to let off steam after being fired from his work."

Lyrica stood in a way where the flare slime she punched, and the others following her were all in her line of sight.

"Flare slimes can get irritated by touching the sharp edges of the rocks on the ground, the leaf blades of the surrounding plants. Or by being punched towards another slime!"

Lyrica clenched her fist. And then, with a perfect aim, she threw another left and blew the flare slime towards the cluster of other slimes mindlessly going after her.

It almost looked like Lyrica had strike a goal in a bowling game. The red slime was thrown into the group of other slimes by Lyrica's left fist. And then, as it hit a lightning slime in the front, the lightning current it was producing around its body began to envelop the red one, triggering an explosion. And that explosion caused the yellow slime to let out a surge of lightning current which struck another two red slimes and one yellow slime near it, creating a chain reaction.

As a result of the chain reaction Lyrica created, she managed to kill a total of nine Lv. 5 slimes, including the other eight lower level monsters that got affected by the chain reaction.

"Good grief. I guess slimes in this world can have emotions."

Hello everyone! Just a quick note. I'm planning to have my story join the writing prompt contest tomorrow. I've been trying to participate to the contest but it wouldn't allow me to enter saying my story doesn't match to the contest, although its about a system. So tomorrow i'll be creating a new book with the same characters, same world and same story as this one. I'll basically transfer what I've written here to that new one while fixing some errors i made. That's all, thank you everyone!
