1 Prologue

Roberto Sinclair

"Mr. Jackson, please, don't do this. I will come up with the money somehow," I begged the ruthless man.

"Mr. Sinclair, as I have already told you many times, I have given you all the time I am willing to give you. You were sued for fraud, and I helped you win the case, with no jail, but you had to pay a fine of $6,000. Now you have to pay your fine and me for my services. You were in debt before and still are. You have no money left," Mr. Jackson replied.

" Please, my company has a big deal that will lead to an impressive amount of money very soon. Just give me some time, the deal should go in by the end of the day...My daughter just got pregnant, and she doesn't know about this whole thing. Please, just give me some time..." I pleaded with him again.

I heard him hesitate, I hadn't known this man to ever hesitate no matter the situation, he always had a straight mindset and nothing could faze him, but something had...

" Is your daughter to have a girl ?" he asked.

" Yes..." I can't finish my statement because he cut me off.

" Good, then I have a proposition that helps us both. When the baby is to turn 22, she will come to Wick and marry my son, Scott, no questions asked. If you do this, I will pay off all of your fees, give you money to fix your company's problems, and you will be around to see your granddaughter's birth," he states.

"Done, but I don't know how my daughter will ever agree to this. It is her baby," I replied.

" That is not my problem, Mr. Sinclair. Will you go through with this or not?" he stated.

" As I said before, yes I will go through with this," I said as to try to hold back a sigh.

"Excellent, then I will have my lawyer draw up a contract tonight. It will be on your desk tomorrow morning. By then the legalities will already be taken care of. Have it to me by the end of the week, or the deal is off, and I will personally come and take your company away from you," he said and with that, he hung up.

I can't believe I just did that, I just sold my granddaughter's life away to the son of a tyrant. It was only to spare myself from embarrassment...no it was for the benefit of my family. Now we can live safely and comfortably for the rest of our lives...how will my granddaughters' life be if she has to live with that monster?

At least we are out of debt...At least she will have a normal childhood and some of the adulthood that she deserves… what have I done?
