"Uh…I have to go home quick. I would gladly accompany you if that wasn't the case," I said as calmly as I could while my mental danger alarm went off. "So, excuse me."

"It's okay. Let me meet whoever occupies you and explain the situation. I believe you will get the green signal," the pretty blonde countered mirthfully.

My body stiffened for a moment before relaxing. I heaved a helpless sigh and turned around resignedly. I made sure not to show it on my face though. I had no other choice than to utilize my ultimate Chinpira repellent art. Fishing out my wallet, I took out all of the money inside and reluctantly offered it to the blond.

"I swear this is all I have, so don't bother me, please."

"…" The pretty blonde stared at me silently for a few seconds before breaking into a boisterous laugh. "You actually think that I am mugging you? Have you never been hit on by a girl?"

My poker face stood strong, but I believed the blood that rushed to my cheeks was visible on my face. Damn it, woman! Just tell me what you want already. Don't play with my heart like this! Taking a deep breath, I forced the blood in my cheeks to settle down. As I glared at the blonde, she decided it was the correct moment to stop laughing.

"I am seriously interested in you, you know? Only a handful of people can withstand my charm and most of them are already dead. Seeing how unfazed you are even after gazing at my existence fills me with giddiness. I want to get to know you more."

"…are you in any way related to Zaimokuza?"

"Huh? Who has that weird name?"

Oy! Apologize to the Zaimokuza family. It is indeed weird, but you can't just call it out like that! "Ah, I digressed. Please, forget about it."

"Okay." The blonde accepted my response easily. "So…up for a date? I swear I will buy another ice cream for you." She pointed at my plastic bag.

Tsk! Does this woman think that I am a stupid boy who can easily be lured by candy—

"I will pay for your meals also."

"I don't see why not."

Fuck the principle; free food is free food!

Against my better judgment, I led the eccentric foreigner around, helping her explore Chiba as far as our feet could take us. While doing that, I got to know a little bit of her. She revealed that she was called Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade. As if I would believe that bullshit! I called her Chuuni-chan the entire time and she didn't seem to mind it.

Chuuni-chan was interesting. She behaved mostly like a normal person but sometimes she would act as if she was an oblivious stuck-up Princess from the Japanese feudal era. That wasn't the weirdest thing about her though. The aura surrounding her encouraged me to do things that I normally wouldn't do. She easily swept me up with her pace.

"Anyway, Chuuni-chan, I think I can only accompany you this far. It's close to dinner time, so I have to return soon. Heck, I shouldn't have accompanied you in the very first place. Komachi would definitely kill me when I got home."

"Is she your girlfriend?"

"My sister."

"Ah, no worries, then. What you do with your time is not her concern."

I instinctively frowned at Chuuni-chan's remark but couldn't find the fault in her logic. I never dictated to Komachi how she should spend her time, so she shouldn't either. Still, it somehow felt wrong. I felt like I was doing something forbidden behind my family's back. Now that I think about it, what I did with Chuuni-chan felt wrong.

Quickly fishing out my phone, I found 7 missed calls and 26 messages from Komachi. No wonder I felt guilty the whole time. I forgot to notify Komachi of my impromptu outing! Opening the messages, I frantically read through all of them before furiously typing a reply. I had to let Komachi know that I would be back soon.

"Hey, Hachiman, we have one last place to go."

"Eh…you are still going at it?"

"Come on! It's not that far anyway."

"Yeah. Yeah. Lead the way!"

Without paying much attention, I followed the clacking sound of Chuuni-chan's red stilettos. I looked at my phone screen worriedly as I waited for Komachi to respond. Before long, she messaged me about how worried she was. After hurling some harmless insults and calling me Hachiman to show me how worried she was, Komachi called me.

I was about to press answer when I noticed how dim the lighting around me was and how quiet it was. Mind becoming alert, I looked around me and found myself in a shady alley. I gulped nervously as sweat drenched my back. Chuuni-chan was an experienced mugger. She had been waiting for this moment and used our 'date' to distract me.

Mom, Dad, your son doesn't fulfill your expectations, but when he appears in the news tomorrow morning, you will be able to see that he is an honest kid. With that said, I am scared. Please, make it an instant and painless death.

As depressing thoughts flooded my mind, my overly keen eyes detected movement in the corner of my eyes. I reflexively turned around and immediately jumped back upon seeing the face of the figure who had sneaked on me.

"Boo!" she cutely declared.

"Kyaa!"

Have I said that I was too scared to behave normally? Because of that, I reacted rather unmanly at the totally not-scary look Chuuni-chan gave me. I wanted to curse myself for the embarrassing display, alas, the damage had been done. I fell and my hand brushed against quite a sharp edge.

Clank!

"Hey, are you okay?" Chuuni-chan's worried voice resounded. "Sorry, I didn't mean to…"

Grimacing slightly, I sat up straight and looked up at Chuuni-chan only to find her trailing her gaze at my hand. I almost couldn't hold my wince as I found my palm split open. Blood was pouring out of the honestly quite intimidating gash. Great! Now, what kind of excuse should I tell Komachi? Mom will ground me again for sure.

Sighing in resignation, I turned my gaze back to Chuuni-chan and found her red eyes gleaming in excitement. My heart skipped a beat as she took my hand and licked the blood on my palm. Before I could voice out my concern over her creepy behavior, she stared at me with her weirdly hypnotic red eyes. My breath was caught in my throat as she brought her mouth to my neck. A feeling of dread washed over me before a pain that I had never experienced before assaulted my neck. As my consciousness was fading, I faintly heard the ringtone I set for Komachi coming from my phone.

I am a Barbie girl, in the Barbie world~

I should have chosen a better ringtone for Komachi. Laughing at how ridiculous my ending song was, I drifted to the land of the death.

[Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade's POV]

I…fucked up. I had been repeating that sentence in my mind for three hours. Pacing back and forth in my apartment bedroom, my eyes found their way to the sleeping figure on the bed. He was the amusingly kind boy who had taken me around Chiba the whole day. The boy had a strange charm that made me unable to take my eyes away from him. I shouldn't have let my curiosity get the better of me. The boy wouldn't have ended up in this state if I had followed my brain instead of my heart.

Biting on my nails nervously, I stood beside the bed that the boy currently occupied. It had been hours since I voraciously drank his blood. His cheeks were no longer sunken—a sign that his blood had regenerated—but he was as pale as a dead body. He was alive and breathing but still hadn't woken up even after hours since I turned him into my familiar. He should have woken up by now…if nothing had gone wrong.

"Gah! I shouldn't have dried him off his blood!"

My hands were now grasping my head in frustration. As I was about to descend into despair, I noticed a movement coming from the bed. Forcefully calming myself down, I straightened my posture and calmly stared at the slowly rising figure on the bed. He opened his eyes, before sharply observing his surroundings with his red orbs.

His gaze fell on me soon enough and I almost squeaked in fright at how intimidating yet at the same time arousing his eyes were. A light frown marred his face before he opened his mouth.

"Am I a vampire now?" he calmly asked in his husky baritone voice, making me tingle in weird places.

"You are a thrall—my thrall—but yes, you are a vampire," I answered calmly, suppressing my hunger for the boy before me.

"I am no longer human…just like that?"

"Just like that."

"Damn."

Indeed. Damn was also how I would like to describe this development.
