Façade

"Well, leaving that aside, there is someone who wants to meet you," These words brought Euclid out of his thoughts.

Euclid was about to lose his cool because not only did this guy come in himself, but he also brought someone with him.

"What do yo-" But before he could say something his lips were sealed, because the person who appeared in front of him was…

"Thank you for this Adam-sama," A calm and collected look, serene red eyes, and luscious silver hair fashioned in a long braid just like him, the woman wearing a blue maid uniform made her appearance on the scene without a single sound.

"It is nothing," Adam shook his head and Euclid came out of his shock immediately.

"G-Grayfia…" It was none other than Grayfia Lucifuge, his older sister.

"Did you forget your manners after all these years?" Grayfia's eyebrow raised a little but, "I suppose ...I am not someone who should give you any lessons on anything, given how long it has been."

She knew that demanding respect after what she did was stupid, there was no way that the current Euclid had a favorable impression of her as he had back then.

"You…. Why are you here?" Euclid asked maintaining his calm, he wouldn't lose his cool over this, he couldn't do that.

'He is about to lose that calmness soon,' Adam thought as Grayfia opened her mouth.

"Because I found out that you were alive. So, I am here to take you back," Grayfia said and that was the last nail.

"What do you mean take me back?!! Where will you take me?!" Euclid's voice was raised, "Are you going to make me a dog of the Gremory just like yourself?" he thought that this was laughable, comical even.

Grayfia may have not known about him, but he knew all about what she was up to all these years.

"Not only did you switch sides, you chose to work under that fake bastard masquerading as the Lucifer, you are a shame to the Lucifuge name," Euclid was beyond angry when he heard what Grayfia did after the Civil War.

But this wasn't even the worst thing she did in his eyes…

"Now is that any way to talk to your older sister?" Adam asked because there was no way this idiot didn't know why Grayfia did that, right?

"It is alright Adam-sama, I certainly do not deserve his respect," Grayfia was calm hearing all of this because, "None of what he had said was untrue." She was aware of it herself.

It was as Euclid said, she had run away after the loss of the Old Satan Faction and joined the New Satan faction, becoming the Queen of Sirzechs Peerage.

She had left behind her family, The Lucifuge and the previous Lucifer whom they were supposed to be allied with, and joined the Gremory family who replaced them as their servant.

Then as a competent maid, she aspired to be, she worked with the interests of the Gremory family in mind.

And that was her mistake, she was so in tune with her position as the servant of the Gremory Clan that…

"…I forgot being Grayfia Lucifuge of the Lucifuge Family," Grayfia knew that this was her mistake, "I shouldn't have stopped searching for you ...no matter how it appeared."

Grayfia Lucifuge as a former famous Devil of the Old Satan Faction hailing from a family that swore absolute obedience to the previous Lucifer, came into the New Satan faction. If she had continued her search for Euclid, who was still considered a part of the Old Satan Faction, someone who was a fanatical follower of the previous Lucifer.

What type of rumors would that make? And how would they affect the Gremory Family? How would it affect Sirzechs who helped her so much?

All of this went on in her head but she failed to consider, What would my brother think if he was still alive? What would he think if he saw that I was not searching for him at all when he could be out there on his own? What if he died and I could've saved him if I didnt stop?

These thoughts eluded her because she couldn't look at them, she herself ignored this all.

But it wasn't like she didn't search for him, she had searched for Euclid through Sirzechs's help, but it came up with nothing. All that they could conclude was that Euclid had most likely passed away.

And because she didn't want to trouble the Gremory Family any further with rumors flying about, Grayfia took that verdict and continued to live normally, totally unknown to the fact that her brother was alive all this time working under the son of the previous Lucifer.

"I apologize," Grayfia said as Euclid frowned, "I should've been a better sister." Looking at her bowing her head...

"You've changed Grayfia…" That was all Euclid could think, "That fake Lucifer has corrupted you… if only he didn't exist…" he gritted his teeth.

"You weren't supposed to be like this…." Grayfia was someone he was proud of, she was the most famous combatant from the Old Satan Faction even with her young age, she was impeccable, a force that could stand proudly on the frontlines thanks to her overwhelming abilities, she was supposed to stay that way. She wasn't supposed to become like this….

She was always supposed to be the best, she was the example of the perfect Lucifuge for him but, in Euclid's eyes, the current Grayfia had changed too much. She wasn't like she used to be, and that is what was irritating him so much.

The old Grayfia Lucifuge was nowhere to be found, all he could see now was Grayfia, a servant of the Gremory Family.

"Why are you acting?" But Euclid wasn't prepared for Adam's sudden intervention.

"What do you…. mean?" He asked trying to dodge the topic, but...

"Don't act like you don't know what would happen to your sister if she had stayed with the Old Satan Faction," Adam wasn't going to be nice like Grayfia, she was currently acting like an older sister because she couldn't do that before, and for her nothing should've been more important than looking for her younger brother but she turned her head away from that responsibility.

And because of that she didn't want to talk about anything that could sound like an excuse for her actions, she knew what she had done wrong, which is why she stayed quiet hearing his words.

"…" Euclid looked at Adam, there is no way he didn't know what could've happened to Grayfia if she hadn't gone to the New Satan Faction.

Grayfia Lucifuge was a pure-blooded Devil, of a highly respected clan at that. With Old Satan Faction in shambles after losing the Civil War, there was no need to even think about what would happen to her.

It would be tragic, and that was something Lord Lucifuge knew, that this could happen after they lost the war.

This is why on his last breath he entrusted Grayfia to Sirzechs, he wanted her to be protected from such a horrible fate. He understood that his daughter wasn't like the rest of the Lucifuge Clan, the only reason she participated in the war was because her family was involved, and not because she supported the previous Lucifer's ambition like the others.

And Sirzechs saw no problem with that because he could understand that part of her since he was close to her, which is why Grayfia switched sides and lived her life the way her father wanted her to.

"You should know that Sirzechs's influence as the New Lucifer helped Grayfia stay safe from many evil schemes till now," Adam already knew that this guy understood all of this.

Grayfia would've been turned into a tool to produce more soldiers for the Old Satan faction if she hadn't escaped. She was strong, yes, but there was a limit to what she could do on her own.

That is why she went along with her father's wish, and joined the New Satan Faction.

"There is nothing wrong with that," Euclid scoffed making Adam furrow his brow, what was this idiot talking about now?

"That is exactly what Devils should be like," Euclid laughed knowing what could've happened to his sister because in his mind that's how Devils should behave, and that's how they were supposed to be, ruthless even to their own kind.

Using everything for themselves if it meant that they could get their means, that brutal and self-serving behavior is what suited the Devils. No, it should be the only thing they should be.

"The current Satans are a joke, their title is but a façade they use to glorify themselves while forming alliances with other factions, and then they think they have brought peace to the Underworld," Euclid didn't think that there was something funnier than this, "The Underworld doesn't need peace…. Devils do not need peace."

"I see, so that is what you think Devils should be like?" Adam nodded, he didn't really care what Euclid thought or what his fucking ideology was, in short, he didn't give two fucks about that.

Currently, there was just one thing that irked him as he saw Euclid nod so pompously to his question.

"Then, why are you being such a bitch?"
