Chapter 24 - Olly and Ella's Fight

There was a big translucent screen in front of me. On the screen were Olly and Jane.

They both got into a stance, and I could hear Kendel speak.

"Fight!"

They both started to move towards each other.

Based on their stances I could tell Olly was more inexperienced than her, but Olly looked faster.

Olly threw the first punch, it was a fast, right jab. Jane countered by pushing his arm up and then threw a kick at his stomach.

It connected.

Olly was pushed back, and Jane continued to rush him.

He was able to dodge Jane's attacks and threw a counter.

He led a jab into a kick then finished with a hook, Jane was able to block everything but the hook.

Olly didn't stop there; he continued to rush and throw attacks.

But... Jane didn't allow him to connect any of his hits, she backed as far up as she could and was just out of reach for all his attacks.

Olly overextended.

Maybe he thought she was disorientated? Or he was too confident in himself because he threw a punch which put him off balance, his right foot was in the air, and he was leaning forward.

Jane leaned back, put her hands on the floor and kicked up, it was like a backflip, cartwheel, kick sort of thing. She landed straight on his Jaw.

Olly was thrown back and had lost the fight.

In an instant they were both off the screen and back where they were. They were both being checked by a priest to see if their injuries were alright.

Why didn't I get checked? All they did was put a bandage on me...

But after watching their fight I could clearly see that Olly was outmatched, if I were to describe the way they both fought I'd have to say Olly was more aggressive but unpolished while Jane was more sophisticated and precise.

From the first move I thought that the matchup was sort of unbalanced, but you never know. Even some of the worst looking guys had defeated some powerhouses before.

I could hear some students talking while looking at both of them.

"No way, did a noble actually just lose to a commoner?"

"Did he really just lose like that?"

"I thought that he would have destroyed that commoner..."

"How did that commoner know how to use aura?"

Among those malicious words, I could hear someone yell.

"Woo! Good job Jane! You easily beat him!"

"Thanks... It wasn't that hard."

Jane looked at me as she said that.

Huh? What did I do?

I ignored her and gave Olly a pat on the back.

"Nice try."

He looked at me with a funny look.

"Ehh! You're so mean!"

Huh?

"Are you making fun of me because I got destroyed?"

He said with a smile like he was trying to hide his true feelings, but the smile faded fast.

"I absolutely lost..."

It makes sense, losing never felt good to almost anyone, though I didn't really mind it.

"You were just less experienced."

Ella patted him on the back as well.

"You never know how much battles someone has gone through to get to their level, you shouldn't blame yourself over that."

It was true, I remember seeing one of the most respected guys lose to a skinny gray-haired guy, he couldn't understand why but that guys moves looked like he'd had been through many life-or-death situations.

"Haah, You're right! Thanks Kai, Ella!"

Olly began to stretch him arms before giving us a smile, I think he felt better after my words.

Ella and I both gave him a nod.

A few minutes later most of the students had fought already. There were probably 1 or 2 fights left.

"Next, Ella and Gene."

I gave Ella a thumbs up while Olly spoke.

"Good luck Ella! You'll destroy him!"

Ella gave us a thumbs up back before suddenly appearing on the screen.

Physically Ella was way smaller than him, it was light putting a lightweight against a heavyweight.

"Start!"

Immediately Ella ran at him, and Gene stood still.

He threw a big, heavy punch but Ella easily dodged it and kicked at his side.

I figured that it wouldn't have done any damage but, man was I wrong. A moment later Gene was pushed back further than 8 feet.

How the hell? I thought while it happened on the screen.

She didn't stop there, she continued to move and punched at his stomach.

Gene looked like he was hurting, his hand was on his side, and he was panting heavily. When he saw Ella go for the punch he tried to back up as far as he could.

But that didn't matter to Ella, as he backed up she moved forward and landed a punch clean on his stomach.

It looked like Ella was about to finish up the fight as she moved in once more.

I figured she was about to knee him in the face to knock him out.

As she started the attack Gene suddenly burst out.

"I surrender!"

In an instant they were both back in their original positions... But Ella's attack didn't stop, she was already in motion when he surrendered, she couldn't stop it.

It was coming straight towards me...

As quick as I could, I threw my arms up to block the knee coming straight for my face, it was instinctual. If it was anyone else here, they probably wouldn't have blocked it.

Her attack connected with my arms and I was pushed back a few dozen feet into the wall.

*Cough!*

Dust appeared in front of me, and I couldn't see anything except that.

That... Fucking... Hurts...
