1 THE UNEXPECTED
EXTRACT FROM THE STORY
Everywhere was dark and smoky,silence prevailing.
A little child could be heard crying and a figure was around trying to figure out what happened.
His torch isn't bright but he could still see with it.
He walks further into the building going towards the cry of the child.He walks a little further and sees the dead bodies of a man and a woman,probably his wife
Shocked!!!
He stood still a little bit,contemplating whether to go further to look for the crying child.
The child's cry brought him out of his reverie.He didn't decide but just found himself walking deeper into the building.
He looks back to the dead bodies and signs a ring beside the dead woman,suspicious of it,he bends to pick it up. He then notices a wound from a gunshot on the woman's head. He gasped and moved backward a little bit. He looks over to the man and also sees a gunshot wound on his head.
He nodded negatively knowing that these beings before him were shot and someone is behind their death.
He remembers the child and walks deeper then he saw a portrait on the wall of the two dead body he was earlier smiling with a little baby. He smiled looking at the portrait but later frowned realizing that this beautiful family in the portrait is shattered.
He quickly moves in to search for the child and soon finds a girl of about three years old sitting on the floor,hugging her legs and crying.
He moves closer to her and she looked up immediately whimpering.
He carried her with little or no effort and ran out of the building not before taking some pictures of the scene.
He had moved a little far away from there when a bomb exploded.
he looked back and saw the building burnt down to ashes.He shook his head sadly and looked at the girl in his arms already sleeping peacefully on his shoulder.
He then walked to his house which is situated at the outskirts of the city,close to a river.
He soon got home and placed the girl on his bed in his room.
The girl would have died if he didn't save her and he knew it.
"Thank God I got there on time,someone is behind all these,I will get to the bottom of this,I promise" he said gnashing his teeth in anger.
