Chapter 37

Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes were staring at them with disapproval. Not wanting to be involved in a conversation with Leonard, Calvino closed the door and left the hospital.

Calvino's hatred was getting deeper and deeper. Even just looking at Leonard, it made his blood boil.

It wasn't that Calvino didn't know his gratitude for Leonard's actions, who saved Calista at that time, but he couldn't hide his displeasure.

His phone rang on the way to the apartment, showing his mother's name.

'Oh gosh, why did mom have to call now?  What should I tell her?' Calvino thought.

He wanted to ignore the call from his mother, but that would surely make his mom questioning. Finally, he decided to pick up the call.

"Yeah, mom."

"How are you and your sister, Vin?"

"I'm fine, mom. But Calis..."

"What's wrong with her? Hasn't your sister come home from work yet? It's late at night. You should pick her up. I have a bad feeling. I don't want anything bad to happen to your sister."

"Where's dad?"

"You want to talk to him?"

"Yes, mom."

Dreena immediately looked for her husband and handed her phone to Bramantara.

"What Calvin wants to talk to me about?" Bramantara asked his wife.

"I don't know. Maybe Calvin has something important to say. Talk to him!" Dreena replied.

Bramantara directly spoke with his beloved son and was surprised by what he had just said.

Given that Dreena has heart disease, Calvino suggested his father convey the news slowly.

Seeing Dreena's unusual gaze, Bramantara immediately moved away from her reach. He then disconnected the call and reached his son via video call.

"Why do you have to make a video call, dad?"

"I want to see your sister."

"Dad, end it first. I'm not in the room. Calis's friend is coming to visit."

"Let me see her as soon as possible, Vin!"

"Wait a moment."  

Calvino drove his car back to the hospital and hurriedly made his way to Calista's room. His arrival surprised both Calista and Leonard.

"Could you come out first, Leo? I have something to talk to Calis in private."

Without answering, Leonard immediately walked out of the room. He knew exactly where he was right now. The difference in status between him and Calista was like longing for the moon.

However, because of his love, he didn't want to give up just like that. Whether fate would unite him with Calista or not, it was clear that he would continue to fight for his love.

"I know you never sympathise with Leo, but you shouldn't show it so openly. After all, Leo has done a lot..."

"I know." Calvino cut Calista's sentence.

"Dad is looking for you. Talk to him!" Calvino immediately handed over his phone to Calista.

Not wanting to disturb his sister's conversation, Calvino chose to sit on the sofa.

"How did you get sick, sweetheart?"

"You don't have to worry too much, dad. I'm just tired."

"How can I not worry if my beloved daughter lives alone in Surabaya?"

"But there's Uncle Beni's family, dad."

"I'm still worried, dear."

Calvino, who could still hear Calista's conversation with their father, suggested that Calista move to Spain, considering there was grandma Clause there so that she could live with her.

Disliking her older brother's suggestion, Calista immediately cast a death glare while the one being stared at shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly without the slightest hint of guilt.

"Calis, can you still hear my voice?"

"Yeah,"

"What your brother said is true, so someone will always accompany you, dear. Grandma Clause will definitely be happy if you want to stay with her."

"But, dad..."

"Listen to me. We can't always take care of you. So, just obey my order this time."

Without thinking, Calista immediately refused her father's offer. She didn't want to leave Indonesia. She wanted to spend her old age here with the man she loved.

"So, your reason is because of Leonard, your man?" Bramantara asked.

"Nope, and how did you know about Leonard?"

"I never miss even the slightest thing, Calista, including the stupid thing Leo tried to do to you last night. So, think about my offer."

"Okay, dad. I will think about it." Calista replied while glancing at her brother.

Calvino continued to pay attention to the conversation between the two and grabbed the phone from Calista's hand. He then talked to his father. He didn't want Calista's health to be disturbed, so he immediately ended the conversation.

"Why do you talk to daddy like that?"

"What's wrong, Calis? Think about today's incident. If I didn't come on time, what would happen, huh? We're all worried about you, not wanting to curb your freedom."

"I know, but you shouldn't have suggested that..."

"That's enough, Calista! We've talked enough for tonight. Get some rest, now!" Calvino snapped. He then kissed the top of Calista's head before walking out of the room.

Calvino saw Leonard sitting in front of Calista's treatment room. Not wanting Leonard to enter and disturb his beloved sister's rest, he decided to go back into the room.

"Why did you come back?" Calista asked.

"Of course I want to stay with you, Calis, and why haven't you slept yet? Get some sleep! You should get plenty of rest so you can recover quickly." Calvino replied, suggesting his sister.

"Is Leo still outside?" Calista asked again.

Calvino then showered his sister with a sharp glare full of warning without answering.

"Sleep!"

"Answer first, Calvin! Is Leo still waiting outside?"

Calvino was angry hearing his sister's question, but he didn't want to yell at her, so he came closer and then kissed the top of her head with a passionate kiss.

"It's late. Go to sleep! Remember, don't think about anything other than your health. Got it?"

"Yes."

'I'm sure Leo must be waiting for me outside. What a pity for him.' Calista thought.

Tonight, Calista couldn't sleep well. She was still thinking about Leonard. She glanced at the clock hanging on the wall. It was already three o'clock in the morning.

She hoped a nurse would come in, but it was dashed because there was no sign of a nurse coming in to check on her until four in the morning.

Finally, she fell asleep. Now, she has arrived in her dreamland. Maybe it was because she was thinking about Leonard so much that he came over in her dream.

The morning light warmed Calvino's face, forcing him to open his eyes. He instantly smiled when he found his beloved sister still asleep.

He immediately walked over and then showered the top of her head with a soft kiss before walking out of the room.

He decided to go back to his apartment to take a shower, change his clothes and get some documents to continue to monitor the Kafeel Group.

After Calvino left, Calista opened her eyes and called the nurse. She asked the nurse for help to reach the man waiting for her outside the room, but the nurse said that no one was waiting for her there.

"Try to check it one more time, please," Calista asked.

"There's no one outside." The nurse replied.

'So, Leonard went straight home. I want to meet him. There are many things I want to talk to him about.' Calista whispered in her heart.

Calista was sad. Now, her face turned gloomy. The smile that used to carve on her lips was no longer visible.

The nurse who saw the change in Calista's expression immediately advised her not to think about heavy things first if she didn't want her condition to worsen. After saying so, the nurse left her room.

"Thank you."

"You're welcome, Ms Calista."
