Chapter 15

Matius wondered what was wrong with Calista and Leonard. There must be trouble between the two of them.

Calista, who began to lose focus, chose to rest her head for a moment on the back of the chair with her eyes closed.

Calista didn't know why her mind was often filled with Leonard lately, especially after seeing the worry clearly shone in his eyes when Matius tried to tease her, she was getting messed up.

When Calista was drowned with her own thoughts, someone knocked on the door of her room.

"Come in!" Calista answered from within.

"Excuse me, Ms Calista."

"Hm, what do you need Dera?"

"Mr Leo asked me to give this file," Dera replied as she handed the file to Calista.

"Is Sarah not in her place?"

"I saw that Sarah's room was empty so I decided to go straight in."

'This subordinate and leader both have no manners. But it's only right that Dera's attitude is like this. It's all the fault of her leader who can't educate her properly.' Calista thought.

"Thank you, and remember Dera, before you go to my room you can meet Ms Sarah first. Understood!"

"Alright. Excuse me, Ms Calista."

After leaving the room, Dera ran into Sarah, and immediately was asked a question, finding her face tense.

"Did Ms Calista call you?"

Dara shook her head.

"Then why did you come out of Ms Calista's room?" Dera chose to lower her face and then explain the truth.

"Did Ms Calista scold you?"

Dara shook her head again.

"Then why is your face so tense?"

Before telling, Dera seemed to take a deep breath.

"Ms Calista's room is spooky plus her… huh, horrified look."

"I thought there was something wrong. You just don't know Ms Calista. She's kind, really nice."

The time was already 22.00, but Calista's room has not been locked. Leonard was drawn to approach and was instantly wide-eyed at sight before his eyes.

Calista still looked serious with some documents in front of her.

"Isn't your work done yet?"

"I've done," Calista answered without wanting to look at Leonard.

"Then why aren't you home yet?"

"None of your business!"

"I'm here, Calista, look at me while I'm talking."

"I don't want to talk to you. Leave me alone!" Calista replied with her eyes looking down, pretending to be busy tidying up documents.

However, Calista was trying to suppress the beating of her heart which was pumping 1000 times faster.

'Why are you still ignoring me, Calista? What did I do wrong?' Leonard thought.

Without permission, Leonard immediately pulled Calista's body to stand up to his level.

Calista's body became weak so that it couldn't even support her body's weight. It felt very heavy.

"Look at me Calista!" Leonard's fingers reached out to grab Calista's chin so that their gazes met.

The proximity of their faces sent them a warm feeling tickling their skin surface.

From a very close distance, Leonard could observe Calista's beautiful face. When his gaze was fixed on the very seductive luscious lips, he immediately brought his face closer.

However, Calista's hand pressed against his broad chest with an unreadable look in her eyes compared to Leonard, who was already filled with desire.

One thing Leonard caught from the grey-eyed woman was trauma, disappointment, hurt and also fear. Calista's beautiful face radiated deep sadness.

'What happened to you, Calista? Is this your nonchalant attitude because you're afraid of being hurt by me? What kind of pain have you experienced until you locked yourself?' Leonard thought.

Not wanting to add to the wound in the woman's heart he adored so much, Leonard decided to leave Calista's room.

Meanwhile, Calista began to roughly wipe the tears that had started to roll down her cheeks without anyone knowing.

Calista closed her eyes for a moment before reaching for her bag and the car key. She then drove the car at high speed towards Beni's residence.

Calista's departure was followed by Leonard. However, this didn't reveal much information. Until now, Calista was still a mystery.

Leonard's hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as his gaze sharpened on the super majestic and luxurious building.

'Who are you, actually Calista? Why is it so difficult to reveal information about you?' Leonard thought.

Leonard then reached into his trouser pocket to match Calista's ID card address. The address is the same, but Calista's parents are entirely undetected.

Leonard didn't know that Calista was Bramantara Kafeel's daughter, a wealthy businessman who had spread his wings overseas.

This morning, Calista was very busy with office matters because CEO Albert arrived from London.

"Prepare all documents and presentation data!" Calista ordered her subordinate.

"Okay, Ms Calista, I'll prepare it immediately," Sarah replied as the CFO's executive assistant.

When Calista was busy, Matius suddenly entered her room without permission.

Getting a disliked look, Matius then explained that the door to the room was open, so he decided to just go in.

"Is this your first meeting with Mr Albert?"

"Hmm."

"Remember, Calista, you have to be careful because our CEO is known to be a killer with the worst emotional level," Matius added.

Calista immediately locked Matius's gaze.

"Then, why did you tell me? Are you afraid of Mr Albert?" Calista asked, sneering.

"Of course not, Calista. Meetings like this have become my daily meal, I'm just reminding you because you're new."

"Okay, thanks for the info."

"You're welcome, Calista," Matius proudly showed a big smile that was returned with Calista's cynical smile on her luscious lips.

Leonard, who was about to enter the meeting room, accidentally saw the door to Calista's room. His chest suddenly felt tight for some reason.

Could it be because of Matius's presence near Calista?

Not liking the closeness between the two, Leonard decided to approach Calista first before going to the meeting room.

"Ready?" Leonard asked from the doorway then approached Calista.

"Are all the documents ready?" Leonard whispered softly.

Calista closed her eyes for a moment, trying to muffle the pounding of her heart that was pumping 1000 times faster.

"Alright, go ahead. I'll be after you in a moment."

"Oh, let me help you."

"Thank you, Mr Matius. I can do it myself,"

Calista then immediately walked away, leaving two men who stared at her blankly.

Matius directly followed Calista.

"It seems Leo is very interested in you. It's obvious he's always watching you," Matius muttered.

Not wanting to respond to the conversation that led to Leonard, Calista chose to remain silent.

Currently, they are in the meeting room, which was decorated in all white. Grey silhouette glued to the far end of the chair. Usually, Leonard was the one who sat on that chair but this time was different.

For a moment, Calista longed for her beloved brother and family. Who knew how long she had been lost in her thoughts until a gentle touch on her shoulder brought her back to her senses.      

"What are you thinking about?" Leonard asked softly before sitting on the chair opposite Calista.

Leonard's soft voice and warm gaze made Calista's heart beat wildly. However, this can be covered by her indifferent attitude. What Leonard caught was that she didn't have the same feeling like him.

Being stared at intensely, of course, made Calista uncomfortable so that she often moved restlessly.

Matius, who was sitting next to Calista, caught the bond between them, but they both avoided each other.

Not long after, the CEO entered the room. Having a handsome face, Caucasians and a sharp gaze made him look sexy even at a young age. His cold aura could create a sense of discomfort. He deserved to be called the killer CEO.
