Chapter 14

Gu Yao walked towards the young miss lying on the couch in the living room .

"Why are you so cute" Gu Yao muttered to him self as he stood in front of her .

As Mei Wen lay on the co inuch, bathed in the soft glow of moonlight filtering through the curtains, her ethereal beauty captivated the room. The gentle curve of her delicate features reflected a tranquility that only sleep could bestow.Her ebony hair cascaded like a silken waterfall, framing her face in graceful waves. Stray strands caressed her peaceful visage, adding an air of effortless allure to her slumber. The moonlight kissed the strands, creating a play of shadows and highlights that danced in harmony with her serene pose.

 Her long, dark lashes rested gracefully against her cheeks, casting delicate shadows. The subtle rise and fall of her chest accompanied the soft symphony of her rhythmic breathing .

The moonlight painted her features with a gentle luminescence, accentuating the flawless canvas of her skin. Mei Wen's lips, curved in a subtle expression of serenity, held a whisper of mystery like as if it was inviting Gu Yao to come and kiss it .

Gu Yao's gaze suddenly became heated as he faced Mei Wen who was didn't know the situation she had put Gu Yao through.

His eyes became sharp and he turned his flushed face away from her to remove the dirty thoughts that were already pouring into his mind .

' I have to be patient ,be patient 'was what he told himself to calm down before his heated gaze that was filled with desire calmed down and he stared at Mei Wen with gentleness . He clenched his hands as he thought deeply to himself.

' Xiao Wen , don't worry I'll help you recover your memories and the person that did this to us will pay for this'

Maybe because of his staring at her was starting to get too much , Mei Wen mumbled somethings before she stood up groggily and was about to check the time when she saw a shadow .

"Huh ,who the heck is this" she called but no one answered her ,she screamed as she stepped back in shock before tripping .

Gu Yao who was shocked stood up quickly to help her balance herself.

He held her waist and brought her so close to him that he just needed to move forward a little bit and their lips would literally touch .

 Mei Wen smelled the familiar sandalwood scent , before she could confirm her thoughts,the lights came on and uncle Qiang and some other maid's came out with their breath heavy due to them running over when they heard a scream .

Mei Wen glanced over at them and lowered her head in embarrassment.

' damn , curse you, Gu Yao , couldn't you reply when I called out '

Gu Yao who naturally heard her cursing him in his mind was shocked. This was the first time he heard her cursing him,did she normally curse him when he wasn't around too...

Mei Wen looked at the maid's and apologized for disrupting their sleep,her flushed face showed how embarrassed she was .

A mischievous glint flashed in Gu Yao's eyes as he looked at her.

With an amused twinkle in his eyes,he teased Mei Wen,

"Well, it seems someone was expecting a midnight intruder. Should I be worried about your secret ninja skills, Xiao Wen?"

Mei Wen, still recovering from the embarrassment, shot him a playful glare.

"You're one to talk, Mr. Sneaky. Could you at least make your presence known before swooping in to save the day?"

Uncle Qiang, trying to diffuse the situation, chimed in with a hearty laugh, "Ah, young miss, it seems the master was just concerned for your safety. No need to worry about stealthy invaders tonight."

Mei Wen, slightly flustered, decided to play along with the banter. "Well, I appreciate the concern, but next time, Mr. Gu, a little heads-up would be nice. I don't need a heart attack along with my beauty sleep."Gu Yao grinned, his earlier tension dissipating. "Noted, Xiao Wen. I'll be sure to announce my heroic entrances in the future. Now, do we want to continue this late night adventure?"Mei Wen, still holding onto a semblance of dignity, quirked an eyebrow.

"Late-night adventure? Is that what we're calling it now? I thought you were the one who needed some beauty sleep."

Uncle Qiang and the maids couldn't help but chuckle at the banter unfolding before them, never in their life would they had thought that their boss had a playful side of him. He looked much better than when he was always acting cold and distant.

Gu Yao, playing the part, placed a hand over his heart dramatically.

"Ah, my apologies, Xiao Wen. I must have been misled by the moonlight and the enchanting aroma of mystery in the air."

Mei Wen rolled her eyes, a smile playing on her lips.

"Save the poetic speeches for another time, Mr. Gu. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll retire to my not-so-secret lair and try to recover from the shock of the surprise intruder.

"As Mei Wen walked away, Gu Yao couldn't resist adding, "Rest well, Detective Mei. May your dreams be filled with less dramatic entrances and more peaceful slumber."The maids and uncle Qiang burst into laughter, and even Mei Wen couldn't stifle a giggle, she then went upstairs to wait for Gu Yao ,who was giving some orders to uncle Qiang.

Later in the bedroom...

Gu Yao walked in after a while and saw Mei Wen who was drying her hair after she was done in the bathroom.

The picture like moment was deeply imprinted in his mind .

A soft smile was on his lips as he walked towards Mei Wen and took the blow dryer from her and started to help her dry her hair.

It was a quiet but serene moment and both of them were enjoying the peace.

Nowadays Mei Wen felt more connected to Gu Yao ,she felt like she had known him since the day she leaned how to talk and the comfort he gave her made flowers bloom one after the other in her heart ,she was slowly liking him but she herself didn't notice it.

She suddenly remembered that she had something to discuss with him.she looked up at him and wanted to talk when she heard his low , magnetic voice ," sit still ,hmm,you don't want to get a cold because your hair didn't dry up properly?"

Mei Wen looked at him playfully and asked 

"Hmph so what ,it's not like you can do anything to me anyways ,"

Gu Yao's eyes sparkled with a playful glint as he continued to dry her hair, enjoying the banter.

"Oh, is that a challenge, Xiao Wen? Don't forget, I have my ways to make you behave."

Mei Wen chuckled, feeling the warmth of his presence. She couldn't deny the growing connection between them, a magnetic force pulling them closer.

" Stop boasting ,you can't do...ahhhh"

Mei Wen was still talking when Gu Yao spined the chair she was seating on to face him ,he brought his face closer to hers slowly .

Mei Wen's face was filled with shock but she didn't back off and suddenly a warm lips landed on hers and it gently pulled against her own lips.

This was the second time that they were kissing , according to Mei Wen.

She slowly closed her eyes as she lost herself for a moment
