Chapter 1

The carriage ran smoothly on the road. Even though people would not believe that this normal-looking carriage had the Princess in it, but the reality was different.

"Princess, do we really have to be in this carriage?" Ada asked as her eyes looked out of the window from time to time. "We do not even have many soldiers following us."

"Shh…." Big sparkly eyes said with a smile, "Don't talk. Nothing is going to happen to us. And have you forgotten that the head of Knights discord is with us today? Nothing will happen,"

"I agree but Princess," Ada said with a sigh, "Rumors are going around that the rebels are hiding here. The King had hardly given us permission to enter the village near the boards and yet wanted to explore the forest."

"But there is a beautiful waterfall here." The Princess said in a small voice. "The water sparkles under the moonlight."

Ada was getting irritated. Was this the only reason why the Princess decided to run away from the comfortable mansion with guards surrounding her that was ready to protect her at any time and come here to see a waterfall?

The carriage came to a subtle halt as both the Princess and her lady-in-waiting jerked. There was an unusual air surrounding them as The Princess looked outside with expectation. "What is wrong?"

"A tree has just fallen down on the road. We cannot move ahead." The head of the knights said, "We will go through a different route."

The Princess nodded her head but soon she realized that the carriage was stuck in sadness. No matter how hard the horses pulled, there was no way that the carriage was pulled out.

"Princess, I think we have to get down. Maybe that will help," Ada suggested but soon the smile on her face lowered, "But it is night. Will we be attacked by the rebels?"

"You worry a lot Ada," the Princess said in a small voice. She was not wearing any exaggerated clothes as she knew that they would be traveling in disguise but her golden hair still shined through. She covered her hair with a shawl as she got down from the carriage taking the knife along with her. "We can defend ourselves,"

Ada sighed. She knew that she was in no position to worry about the Princess. Even though the Princess was like a flower in the garden she was filled with thrones. She knew how to support herself.

Ada walked down behind the Princess and she followed closely with her. Soon they were standing under a tall tree, hidden in the darkness of night.

The surrounding was quiet and the Princess could see that the carriage was about to move. Was it because the Princess was standing in the position for a really long time or was it because her legs had fallen asleep but before she could understand what was happening, she lost her center of gravity and was about to fall down.

She closed her eyes ready to let the fall hit her but before she knew it, she felt weightless. The Princess opened her eyes wide as she blinked nervously. She held on to the cloth covering her face tightened. She was afraid that the person would see her making fun of herself and misunderstanding.

"You should be careful," a deep voice brought the Princess back to reality. It was then that she knew that she was in the arms of an unknown man who looked down at her.

His eyes were sharp and his hair resonated with the dark night. the Princess can feel that he was strong, 'Perhaps a warrior?' The Princess thought. But before she could think deeper about it, the man put her down as he looked back.

It was only then that the Princess saw her lady-in-waiting, standing at the far end with a pale expression. The man looked straight into Ada's eyes as he said with an authoritative tone, "And it is your responsibility to not let the lady walk around carelessly at night. Especially when there are rebels around."

The man looked at the lady in his hand as he placed her down carefully. Her eyes narrowed as she missed the warmth the man's arms provided her. But soon she realized that something was wrong. The cloth that was hiding her face slid down.

The man's eyes widened but soon he bent down as he took the lady's hand into his. The man kissed softly as he said, "I hope the lady understands that it could be dangerous."

The Princess's eyes widened as she bit her lips. Her eyes looked at the man as she walked towards the carriage giving a hand to the head of the knights. The Princess could see the shock in the knight's eyes as if he knew who the man was.

The curiosity was getting on her nerves as she ran towards the carriage. She wanted to know the identity of the man but something was stopping her. The Princess stood in front of the carriage as she smiled innocently but soon her lady-in-waiting's words ran through her ears.

"Lady, this is a dangerous [place. We need to go out soon." As soon as Ada said those words she moved toward the head of the knights as she said in a sharp tone, "We need to go back,"

"I understand," The knight said as he looked at the man, whose eyes were fixed on the Princess. "Lady, we need to go back."

"But the waterfall…." The Princess said in a small tone but soon she saw her lady in waiting to look at her with a sharp gaze. Her eyes moved to the head of the knights but soon she sighed. His eyes were shouting 'Please let's go back,'

"If the lady wishes, I can show her the waterfall. But not today." The unknown man walked towards the Princess as he smiled, "Let me make this land safer for you, Lady Catherine."
