Prologue

SHINNGG!

The boy who was once alseep now jumped awake.

...

Something was wrong.

He knew he should have called the police, but his curiosity won.

He got out of bed, not caring about taking off his pajamas.

He opened the door as quietly as he could.

He stopped dead immediately.

His mother was screaming in the other room, then cut off by a hushed bang.

"Run."

A voice in his head repeatedly yelled.

The one thing he wanted to do, was the one thing he couldn't.

But he could do one thing.

He went back into his small dark blue room, and called the cops.

His relief was short lived as a warm tipped gun was pressed against his back.

"Hello. This is 911, please state your emergency."

He barely heard the women on the other end. The man with the gun slapped the phone away, probably breaking it.

He closed his eyes, not wanting to see what happened next.

There was a gunshot, then everything went blank.

--------------

"GET UP!!!"

"Five more minutes."

"ZZOOOOEEEEEE"

Zoe's twin brother Joey was pulling all of her violet sheets from off her bed.

"You have to get up!!!"

Zoe knew she couldn't win even if she wanted to.

Zoe got up, and glared at her twin in annoyance.

"Don't get mad at me. You're the one who will make us late."

Zoe really didn't want to go, but apparently she had no choice.

"Okay, just get out my room."

She, and her brother teased another often, but they had surprisingly never fought before.

"Alright, alright."

As soon as joe left her room she got up to get dressed.

When she was finished she walked out of her room, and into the dining room.

"Zoey, did you pack all your things?"

Her mother asked as she flipped a pancake.

"Yeah, I did all that stuff last night."

Zoey said, in a strained voice.

"Hey mom?"

Joey said, cutting his food, not realizing that syrup just got all over his green shirt.

"Yes, what is it Joey?"

Zoey was confused, usually her brother was always loud, but now he spoke very carefully.

"Why...why are we moving? I mean, we've been in this neighborhood since we were born.

why are we leaving?"

mom chuckled as she sat at the table looking straight at her pancakes.

"You just said it joey, we're leaving because we've been here too long, and it has gotten quite stale."

"But mo-."

"No Joey, there's nothing else to discuss, eat your food."

Joey huffed, and stuffed a fourth of a pancake down his throat.
