Chapter 2- Unexpected Wedding Plan

Scarlett entered her team room, everyone was out probably on their mission, research, or investigation except one girl who was sitting across the room. She looked like she was busy on her computer until she saw Scarlett, who took her seat. This girl's name was Lisa or you could say Agent 009. She walked to where Scarlett was sitting and gave her a cup of coffee which she had ordered for herself a while ago. Scarlett smiled and looked up at her.

Scarlett: Thank you.

Lisa: l heard your mission succeeded. Good to hear.

Scarlett: I know that's good but I already got another one.

Lisa: Really? What is it?

Scarlett: Confidential.

Lisa: Then it must be a big one.

Scarlett: How's your mission going in the military?

She was given a mission to join the military, Scarlett didn't know much but she did know that Lisa had to keep track of someone who was suspect.

Lisa: I have to stalk this general. He's the one who has been stealing money from the government secretly.

Scarlett: So why is he not arrested yet?

Lisa: No one has evidence. Which is why I was sent there. I have to catch him red-handed.

Scarlett: I'm sure you'll be able to do it.

Lisa: l have to go, see you later Scarlett.

Scarlett waved her goodbye. Lisa was the only one who used Scarlett's name. Scarlett liked it, she felt a little human.

Iris: What is it? I can tell from your eyes. Something bothering you.

Scarlett: Well, the guy from yesterday…He's not that bad after all.

Scarlett gave a questionable look to Iris who had a big smile on her face. She grabbed Scarlett's hand…

Iris: So you like him?

Scarlett: I was just wondering, where is he?

Iris: He probably has the night shift. He'll be here soon…Should I set you both up?

Scarlett: Why would you do that?

Iris: It's my dream to become a matchmaker. I really want to help people find their true love.

(She said while being dramatic)

Iris: So? ( Blink Blink)

Scarlett: Uh okay, I'll help you get experience for your dream job.

Before she could say anything the door opened and every customer's eyes, especially girls went towards it. There he stood. Jimmy Parker. Soon he walked near the counter, all while looking at Scarlett. She slightly smiled at which there was no reaction. Iris broke the awkward air…

Iris: All of us going out tomorrow night. Jimmy, do you want to join?

Jimmy: Is she coming?

He said a bit seriously.

Iris: Scarlett? Yeah…Why?

Jimmy: Then of course I'll come.

He winked as he walked to the changing room. Iris turned to Scarlett wide-eyed.

Iris: OMG!!! I knew it was LOVE!

Scarlett: Love? My ass. That's flirting.

Scarlett stood in front of the big house, guarded by a lot of men. Of course, no one stopped her as she kept walking. Soon she reached the door it opened itself. Someone opened it from inside. Her straight face got a little bright.

???: Sis!!! You're here!

Scarlett: I'm here, Mark.

Mark: Wow I forgot how you looked like.

Scarlett: We met on your last birthday crackhead.

Mark: And that was forever ago, come in.

…

Mark: How's college going?

Scarlett: Pretty good…What are you up to these days?

Mark: I'm learning the business from dad, he wants me to take on his work pretty soon.

Scarlett: Oh…

Scarlett looked down and answered.

Mark: Uh…speaking of that, did you come here to…?

Scarlett: I came here to meet Mr. Logan.

*** Flashback ***

Scarlett, the little five years old had her back against the door, she kept weeping. She could hear them argue behind the door.

???: It's my decision! I adopted Scarlett.

Mr. Logan: If that good-for-nothing girl becomes your daughter, she becomes mine as well!

???: So what? I'm not asking you to become a father for her!

Mr. Logan: It's about my reputation. What are people going to think?

???: That "Mr. Logan adopted a girl who lost her parents, is he not generous?"

There was a minute of silence. Scarlett silenced her cries as well. Soon the man began to talk.

Mr. Logan: You really do questionable things sometimes, why did you want to have this girl out of nowhere?

???: I was friends with her mom.

Mr. Logan: If things go wrong, then you better know what might happen.

Just like that, his footsteps walked away. The door opened revealing that man's wife who looked at Scarlett. " Your safe," she said.

***Back to present***

Mark: Hey? Are you okay?

Scarlett: Yeah, I am.

Mark: So, why did dad want to meet you?

Mr. Logan: I suppose it is something she still has to find out.

Mr. Logan entered, Mark immediately greeted him and Scarlett bowed a little.

Mr. Logan: Mark, you were supposed to attend a meeting.

Mark: But sister came, I had t-

Mr. Logan: Leave, right now.

Mark looked at Scarlett and she gave him a satisfied look. "Go" she whispered a little. Then, he left. Soon Mr. Logan turned his back walked towards the living room. Scarlett followed him, then they both settled down on the opposite sofa. For a minute he isn't looked at Scarlett until she finally broke the silence.

Scarlett: What is it, that you wanted to talk about.

Mr. Logan: Well aren't you all grown lady now. When was the last time we met?

Scarlett: When I was 7…get to the point. What is it?

Mr. Logan: That's not a way you talk to your father.

Scarlett: Never in my life, did I think about you as my father.

Mr. Logan: But legally you are.

Scarlett: I'm past 18 now. Just sign a bunch of papers, and we'll be strangers. When should l send them to you?

Mr. Logan: That's not what I called you to talk about…I have a business partner. I want you to marry his son.

Scarlett stayed quiet. She just looked at him in disbelief what was he saying? He was her stepdad who didn't see her for 13 years. He never even cared about her. Now just calls her out of nowhere and tells her to marry someone for the sake of his business.

Scarlett: I'm leaving.

She got up.

Mr. Logan: l gave you my name. You have to do what I tell you to.

Scarlett: I never asked for your name.

Mr. Logan: Scarlett…Scarlett…you know what I can do!

Scarlett clenched her fist and left the room, intact she left the house but just as she stepped out, she saw a car stop by. A woman stepped out of it and walked up to her.

???: We need to talk.

*** Flashback ***

-Inside Henry's Office-

Scarlett: So, Jimmy Parker is the real gang leader?

Henry: Yes, Jayden Dylan was just acting in his place.

Scarlett: I don't get it. Why would he hide his identity in the first place?

Henry: There has to be a very dangerous reason…He's hiding his identity for now. But it's not long before he reveals it. He's saving it for something big…And we need to stop him before that something big happens.

Scarlett: Okay, so is that my mission? Should l get him?

Henry: No…no. First of all, we need to find what he's up to. This mission is going to have a lot of tasks…Task number 1: Gain Jimmy Parker's trust.

Henry put forward a bunch of papers clipped together. All of them included information about Jimmy Parker. The first one was unclipped it was the contract. Scarlett grabbed the pen and signed right away. That's how loyal she was to her job. She soon left the office with the files.

***Back to present***

Scarlett: What is it, Mrs. Logan?

Mrs. Logan: Did my husband talk to you?

Scarlett: Yes, I talked to your "husband". He was bragging about some marriage.

Mrs. Logan: I'm guessing he threatened you.

Scarlett: Indirectly, yes. It's because of all this power he has, he thinks he can control everything.

Mrs. Logan: His power is nothing compared to who you are Agent 007. If only he knew.

Scarlett: Nothing changes, even if he knew. Agent 101.

Ara: Use your own tactics to get out of this.

Scarlett: I'm not going to do that.

Ara: Then, should I?

Scarlett: No.

Ara: So, you're going to marry that guy (laughs) I think his name is Jack- something.

Scarlett: Maybe.

Ara: Is this a mission?

Scarlett: Yes.

Ara: 18 years ago I was given a mission. It was to keep track of a politician. He basically controlled this province's politics. It was pretty simple until I had to get involved with him, I even married him. Gave him a son. But to this day I am just carrying out my mission. Nothing more.

Scarlett: Don't worry I won't actually marry that Jack-guy.

Ara: Do that. Don't make your entire life a mission, like me.

Scarlett: This marriage won't be stopped. But little Jackie is not my target.

Ara: Well, I can tell you have a plan in your mind…I have to go now.

She got up and left, Scarlett took a deep breath and stared out of the window.

Scarlett: A life-long mission? Sucks.

Scarlett looked at her phone as she waited for the signal to get red, along with other people standing next to her. Soon it turned red and everyone started to walk. Scarlett didn't pay attention to her surroundings but soon noticed an old woman when she looked back. The old lady was trying to keep up with the others, but she couldn't maybe because of her weak knees. She was left behind.

Scarlett took a few steps back and started to walk slowly. Soon she was walking on the same level as the old woman.

Scarlett: It's cold tonight, isn't it?

Old lady: Oh yes it is, The weather forecast said it might even rain.

She said holding her umbrella.

Scarlett kept talking to her as they made it to the end of the road. She soon waved her goodbye and smiled. And then she walked towards a restaurant. Scarlett entered the restaurant and immediately saw the table where her friends were sitting. She walked up to them and sat beside Iris.

She greeted all of them. Yes, it was a "colleagues night out". But she couldn't see the person who she actually came for.

Drew: Scarlett, you look really good in a skirt.

Scarlett: Thanks.

Iris: Don't hit upon her, she's already booked.

Drew: What??? Is that true? Scarlett.

Iris: Oh look, star of the night is here!

Everyone looked at Jimmy and he came smiling. He took a seat on the opposite side of Scarlett. Beside him was a girl named Lily who seems to be flattered by his presence. They kept looking at each other but, the whole time Drew kept talking to Scarlett and the girl, Lily kept talking to Jimmy.

Lily: Jimmy, do you have a girlfriend?

Jimmy: No yet.

Just as he said that he looked at Scarlett and a smirk formed on his lips. Scarlett smiled and bit her lower lip. She turned back to Drew and continued listening to his uninteresting stories. A couple of hours passed, everyone was done eating, and some of them even left. Soon it was just Iris, Scarlett, and Jimmy.

Iris: Oh it's already 9??? I have to go. Scarlett complete your shake. See you both later.

Iris said that, grabbed her bag, and left faster than the speed of light. And she left Scarlett alone with Jimmy, the awkward air. She grabbed her shake, then she had started drinking it when Jimmy got up.

Jimmy: I'll get going as well. You should leave too after you're finished.

Scarlett nodded and watched him leave, just like that.

Scarlett: Really? And I thought he was interested.

Scarlett stood inside for a while and finally stepped out after finishing her 'shake'. Just as she came out, raindrops started to fall.

Scarlett: What really? Now?

The rain just kept on increasing. Just then a really cool car stopped in front of her. The window slides down and there he was Jimmy Parker.

Jimmy: Took you long enough to come out.

He indicated her come in.

Scarlett stepped down and walked to the left side of the car real quick because of the rain. Scarlett opened the door and stepped inside.

Scarlett: I thought you left.

Jimmy: I was about to. But then I saw a helpless girl in rain.

Scarlett: Helpless? Ptff, admit it you were waiting for me.

Jimmy: Do you want to believe that?

Starts driving.

Scarlett: Maybe.

Jimmy: You're really something.

Scarlett: Why would you say?

Jimmy: I don't know, there's something about you that just…

Scarlett: J-Just what? (Gulp)

Jimmy: Just really makes me think about you.

Scarlett: Oh…Oh! I mean who doesn't?

Jimmy: See that, you act so hard one from outside but inside you have a soft heart.

Scarlett: Soft heart? Me? You must be kidding.

Jimmy: I saw you today when you were crossing the road.

Scarlett: Oh that was jus—

Scarlett stopped and looked at him.

Scarlett: Did you stalk me?

Jimmy: Stalk? Ha-ha no. I was in my car waiting for the green light.

Scarlett: Oh okay, By the way. You have a nice car.

Jimmy: You like it?

Scarlett: Yeah, are you secretly rich or something?

Jimmy: Let's say my family is rich.

Scarlett: Then why do you work part-time?

Scarlett laughed.

Jimmy: I'm not good terms with them. But when the time comes, I'll have to return.

Scarlett: You too?

Jimmy: Do you have the same problem?

Scarlett: Ah kind of. It's actually my father, we've never been on good terms. But lately, he's…crossing the line.

Jimmy: Wow, that's look is sad. Its not like your father is forcing you to marry someone?

Jimmy seemed like he was making fun of Scarlett. She turned to the side and glared at him.

Jimmy: What? Seriously? Is he?

Scarlett: O-Of course no. I meant crossing the line. Not jumping the whole bridge.

Jimmy: Scarlett Logan, I never thought you would get emotional over small things.

Scarlett: Jimmy Parker, I never thought you could be annoying.

Jimmy: Because I've heard girls fall for the guys who annoy them.

Scarlett: You're an impossible flirt…Where are we even going? My home was that way.

Scarlett looked at him expecting an answer. But she was shocked when she actually heard it " But we're going to my place".
