Undying Love Chapter 1

Chapter 1:

"Liam! Come and look at this flower! It's so pretty and beautiful." My 14-year-old best friend Liam came over to me We've known each other all our lives. He was the son of my mother's best friend, Queen Rosabelle. We were all royalty; my mother is Queen Emmaline and I am her daughter Princess Amelia. Our mothers grew up together and have known each other pretty much all their lives. Liam and I are both only children so we have each other; he's a year older than me and we're really close. "Amelia it is pretty, just…like…you." I look up at him and blush. "Thank you." I replied. It was pretty normal for me to be always told that I'm pretty or beautiful. Every prince in all the other kingdoms have their eyes on me but I had mine set on one – Liam. A few months ago, Liam and I discovered that our childhood friendship slowly went deeper. We have our own secret communication technique to send a message to each other. We'd catch each other's eyes and tap our right shoulder twice where we both bore the same birthmark; Liam's future is linked with mine – our relationship was decided years back before we born. We'd sneak away from royal events to the royal gardens – our favourite spot. I'd bring some food and he'd bring blankets and candles if it got dark. Our mothers were in the palace speaking with royal advisors. Our fathers passed away when we were young so we don't really remember much. Our mothers have so much responsibility to keep our kingdoms intact. Liam and I finished lunch a while back and it was almost time for Liam to go back home. We played tag and talked for what felt like hours. Rosabelle and my mom were walking through door to the gardens and we both walked over when Rosabelle called us. We gave each other goodbye hugs and Liam whispered "Make sure to write to me, okay?" I nodded my head and said "definitely." That was the last time I saw him.

2 days later

"Run Amelia! Come on sweetheart." My mother, Sarah (mom's 10th grade friend), Lily (Sarah's daughter) and I were running to the royal saferoom. We're under attack by The Knives' – the deadliest rebels in New York. We were in the library when all of a sudden a brick came flying through the window. We knew right there and then that they were in the palace. There were two groups but a treaty was signed years ago when mom became Queen Regent; now we're friends; they were called The Booktaggers. We carried on running when my mom asked "Amelia, are you ok sweetie?"

"I'm ok mom." We ran all the down the secret staircase. We were almost there when we heard a few bombs go off. Mom quickly whispered to Sarah and Sarah was in tears. Mom turned to me, kissed me on the cheek and said, "Amelia, sweetie, I'm going to distract the rebels so that you three can get out of the palace okay? Listen to what Sarah says. Continue working on your music sweetheart, your voice is beautiful and –" BOOM! Another bomb went off. "I love you so much darling. You're a strong and brave girl and I know that you can do anything if you stay focused. Find Rosabelle and tell her what happened. Go sweetheart, I love you."

"I love you too Mom." We started running and soon I heard a gunshot. Little did I know that was the last time I ever saw my mom. Sarah, Lily and I carried on running and soon we reached the airport. I knew I had to disguise myself otherwise everyone would wonder why the Princess of New York was at the airport. I hid my long red hair with a brown wig and my blue eyes with brown contacts. I was a new person, at least for now. We paid for three tickets to Florida; a country that was a good two to three hours away from Los Angeles, or in my case; safety, comfort and Liam. We boarded the plane and sat down in the business class seats. That was the last time I saw New York before it crumbled and fell.
